The Way Selected Imbuga Plays Interrogate the Socio-Political System in Kenya

The main objective of this article was to re-read Francis Imbuga's selected plays, The Successor, Game of Silence, and Betrayal in the City, on how they interrogate the 21st century Kenya's socio-political system. The article used primary data gathered from the three selected Imbuga plays, while the secondary data were obtained from the University of Dar es Salaam main library and online library. This study is qualitative. The data for the study were obtained through close reading and were analyzed by classifying them into themes. By using new-historicism theory, it was revealed that the three Imbuga's plays interrogate the 21st C Kenyan socio-political situation in different ways by revealing socio-political issues like corruption, betrayal and poor leadership, oppression, and suppression, cruelty against women, conflicts, disunity, disillusionment, and poor power succession. The article concludes that Imbuga's literary works are timeless because they endlessly reflect the real socio-political situation of Kenya. Religious conversion among high security hospital patients: a qualitative analysis of patients’ accounts and experiences on changing faith

Research has shown the importance of religion in recovery from mental illness. Previous studies have investigated why individuals change faith during custody in prison, but there has been no research to date on religious conversion in forensic-psychiatric hospitals. The aim of this study was to understand the experience of religious conversion among patients detained in a UK secure hospital. Thirteen patients who had converted their religion were interviewed and the resultant data were analysed using thematic analysis. Three superordinate themes (‘reasons for changing faith’, ‘benefits of having a new faith’ and ‘difficulties with practising a faith’), incorporating eight subordinate themes, emerged. Understanding patients’ reasons for religious conversion is important for the treatment and support not merely of these individuals, but more broadly with patients in forensic psychiatric care

The Impacts of AI on Student Academic Performance at the Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial Academy, Tanzania, (MNMA): A Comprehensive Study

This study explores the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on academic performance at MNMA (Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial Academy) Karume Campus. AI technologies, including adaptive learning platforms, intelligent tutoring systems, automated grading, and generative tools such as ChatGPT and Perplexity AI, have transformed education by enhancing personalized learning and accessibility. AI-driven systems like OSIM, PEPMIS and PIPMIS facilitate staff and student performance evaluation, ensuring data-driven decision-making. Using a mixed-method design, this study gathered primary data through surveys, interviews, and observations, while secondary data was sourced from academic journals and institutional reports. Stratified sampling ensured diverse perspectives from students, faculty, and administrative staff. The study also highlights the role of computer libraries, interactive projectors, and eBooks in enriching academic experiences. Although AI improves learning processes, reduces administrative burdens, and accelerates research, challenges such as limited technological resources and insufficient training hinder full adoption. Addressing these challenges through infrastructure investment and ethical integration can maximize AI’s positive impact. Cultivo dual in vitro de cepas nativas de Trichoderma spp. frente a Botrytis sp. patógeno de Passiflora ligularis Juss

El objetivo de la investigación fue evaluar el cultivo dual in vitro de cepas nativas. Se evaluó mediante el método del cultivo dual en placas Petri con Papa Dextrosa Agar (PDA), donde se observó crecimiento radial, competencia por espacio y nutrientes, micoparasitismo y grado de inhibición. En consecuencia, se hizo dos instalaciones del diseño completamente aleatorio, con 9 tratamientos y 4 repeticiones. Los resultados del enfrentamiento de las cepas de Trichoderma spp. vs Botrytis sp. mostraron un superior crecimiento radial. Por otro lado, todos los tratamientos de Trichoderma spp. lograron restringir el desarrollo de Botrytis sp., con respecto a su testigo. En la competencia por espacio y nutrientes, las cepas nativas evaluadas de Trichoderma pueden ser un recurso valioso para su evaluación en el control biológico de otras enfermedades en el cultivo de granadilla, como también en el establecimiento de dosis efectivas de las cepas de Trichoderma spp. para el control preventivo de plántulas de granadilla a nivel de invernadero y campo

Terapi salat Duha dalam upaya membentuk kesabaran siswa selama pembelajaran daring: Studi kasus di Madrasah Tsanawiah Nurul Amin, Samarang, Garut

Dampak dari adanya pandemi Covid-19 sangat berpengaruh pada sektor pendidikan di Indonesia sehingga membuat suasana akademik sangat berubah untuk beradaptasi dengan sistem pembelajaran yang dilakukan secara daring, sehingga akan berpengaruh pada kondisi kesabaran siswa dalam menghadapi berbagai kendala pembelajaran daring. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran dari jenis kendala yang dirasakan oleh siswa selama menjalani sistem pembelajaran secara daring serta untuk membentuk kesabaran didalam dirinya agar dapat memahami dan mengerti materi dari pembelajaran daring serta memahami orang lain dan kondisi disekitarnya untuk senantiasa memiliki kesabaran. Dalam membentuk kesabaran dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik terapi salat duha. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Dalam proses penelitian dilakukan oleh peneliti dengan cara observasi, wawancara dan melakukan dokumentasi terkait dengan kebutuhan dalam melakukan penelitian. Dalam penelitian ini mengambil informan berjumlah 5 siswa dari MTs Nurul Amin, Samarang, Garut. Kesabaran adalah suatu kemampuan seseorang dalam menerima segala sesuatu yang telah menjadi ketentuan Allah swt, sehingga kesabaran akan terbentuk didalam diri seseorang jika senantiasa mengingat dan berjalan sesuai dengan ajaran Allah, oleh sebab itu cara yang digunakan dalam menumbuhkan kesabaran dalam diri siswa dilakukan dengan menggunakan terapi salat duha. Hasil dari penelitian ini, kelima informan mengalami jenis kendala yang dirasakan selama menjalani proses pembelajaran secara daring, yang berkaitan dengan kondisi psikis, fisik terutama emosinya. Kelima informan merasakan reaksi setelah melakukan terapi salat duha yang dilakukan setiap hari selama jangka waktu satu bulan menjadi lebih sabar dalam menghadapi kendala saat pembelajaran daring. Terapi salat duha bukan satu-satunya media dalam penyembuhan, terapi salat duha memiliki keterbatasan hanya dapat dilakukan oleh umat muslim. Berdasarkan hasil dari terapi ini diharapkan dapat menjadi evaluasi serta menjadi bahan pengembangan tentang terapi salat duha sebagai media dalam menumbuhkan kesabaran siswa
