Singular spectrum analysis forecasting for financial time series

    Get PDF
SSA is a relatively new non-parametric data-driven technique in time series analysis, has been developed and applied to many practical problems across different fields. This paper focuses on the technique of Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA), its application for financial time series, and also represents results of numerical experiments done by author. The main algorithm of SSA consists of two complementary stages: decomposition and reconstruction; both stages include two separate steps. The performance of the SSA technique is assessed by applying it to the close prices of “AS Tallink Grupp” stock. Results in this work are obtained from creation trajectory matrix of given time series and finding eigenvalues and eigenvectors; construction of the principal and reconstructed components of the time series; applying forecasting algorithm to the time series; interpretation of obtained results. In this thesis for numerical experiments we use the software Matlab

In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of listening education practices that organized by active learning techniques on the attitudes of 6th grade students towards Turkish course. The sample of the study conducted at a secondary school in the Black Sea region of Turkey consisted of twenty students –ten girls and ten boys-. During ten-week training process, some listening practices organized by the techniques of snowball, sandwiches, card-showing, card-matching, information paper sack, hourglass, writing poetry, bingo, shift is yours and mind mapping techniques were applied to students each week. In the study, the survey form method, one of the qualitative research methods, was adopted. At the end of ten weeks of the application process, three students selected by typical case sampling that is one of the purposeful sampling techniques were surveyed. Those students expressed that active learning techniques were effective, entertaining and like a game. They also stated that these techniques increased solidarity and cooperation in the classroom, they were effective to identify the text elements such as main idea, supporting idea, topic, event, character, place, and time. The Students also expressed that these techniques trained them while entertaining, and with these techniques Turkish course became more enjoyable and fun for them. The article analyses the origin of international terms used in Azerbaijani. As in other world languages, international terms play a unique role in the terminological layer of Azerbaijani. International terms have appeared throughout history in the terminological system of many languages, including the Azerbaijani vocabulary. The legal process of moving terminological units from one language system to another continues. Research conducted on the terminological lexicon of the Azerbaijani language shows that international terms of various origins differ quantitatively. The vocabulary of the Azerbaijani included terms from Arabic (Arabic origin) and European languages (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and others). Until the years of independence, the intermediary role in the transfer of terms belonged to the Russian language. Among the terms that have passed into our language in modern times, borrowings from European languages predominate. In the article, hybrid terms created based on lexical units of different languages were simultaneously analyzed using examples. Here are statistical indicators of the origin of international terms in the Azerbaijani

    Financial intermediation and economic growth

Financial depth does not fully reflect how well the financial intermediaries serve to economic agents in stimulating economic growth. Additional aspects of financial system such as access, efficiency and stability should be taken into account in order to shed light into the relationship between finance and economic growth. In our paper we capture the four aspects of finance – depth, access, efficiency and stability – to investigate the impact of financial development and economic growth. Our results suggest that the impact of four parameters of financial development differs depending on the level of financial development and has an inverted S-shape function.http://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/132992/1/wp1091.pd

In 2015, a dramatic increase in migrant flows to Europe from the Middle East and Africa has led to a migration crisis. The main goal of the paper is to analyze the socio-economic impact of the migration flows to Europe and its political consequences. The paper has found that the migration has a negative influence over the European socio-economic environment

Digitalization of health and medicine has become a global trend in recent years. The development of this trend is manifested in improving the quality of medical care, increasing access to medical services, and ensuring more effective health decisions. The global health trend is characterized by the transition from e-health to digital health, which is closely related to the formation and development of Industry 4.0. The projection of innovative approaches of Industry 4.0 into the health sector opens up great opportunities for creating a new healthcare paradigm (Health 4.0) by integrating modern technologies, analytical tools and smart medical devices. This article highlights Industry 4.0 technologies, the integration of which into healthcare has led to the generation of a huge amount of various data. Data collected through new technologies on the Health 4.0 platform, their types, structure, sources and capabilities are examined. It is shown that for the collection, transmission, storage, processing of heterogeneous data of a large volume, the introduction of new approaches and methods is required. In the environment of technological transformation, the evolution of the healthcare system at the data level and the conceptual model of the chain of formation of the Healthcare 4.0 ecosystem are proposed. The content of the components included in the Healthcare 4.0 data ecosystem is determined. Some problems arising in the formation of the data ecosystem on the Healthcare 4.0 platform and the processing of large health data are studie

Summary: Providing citizens with high-quality and safe medical services, providing information support for medical research and continuous medical education, making both doctor’s decisions and management decisions necessitated the provision of tools to ensure complex digitization of healthcare. To achieve these goals, a wide range of modern technologies have emerged. One such technology is digital twin technology. Modern medicine, being formed in the environment of Health 4.0, includes not only the treatment of patients, but also the management of healthcare, the prevention of diseases and the processes of health restoration. With the increasing popularity of information communication technologies, people’s demand for health services is shifting from offline service to new online models. Currently, the field of online medicine is not developed enough to serve the elderly, chronically ill people and the people with infectious diseases. Using the advantages of digital twins in solving these problems can give positive results. The article describes the nature, capabilities and applications of digital twin technology. The principles of the formation of the medical digital twin ecosystem are developed to ensure citizens’ accessibility to medical services and to make both medical and managerial decisions. The architecture and structural components of the digital twin ecosystem providing the connection between physical medical objects (patient, hospital, doctor, etc.) and their virtual images are shown. An ontological model for the staged construction and functionalization of the general DT of healthcare is proposed and its hierarchical architecture is establishe

Applications of digital twins in medicine and the ontological model of medical digital twins

The article demonstrates the applications, essence and possibilities of digital twin technology and explains the advantages of digital twin technology and potential challenges. A digital twin is a digital copy that can be used to simulate the status of a physical object or system. The integration of digital twin technologies with the Internet of things, Big Data and Artificial intelligence offers innovative solutions for quicker detection of arisen problems (or problems to arise) related to changes in a real physical object and for making relevant decisions. The development of such solutions in the healthcare is crucial for preserving human health and providing people with higher-quality medical care. It is possible to get an early diagnosis of the disease and the selection of a more effective treatment method on the produced digital twin by transferring the patient’s physical characteristics and changes in his/her body to the digital environment. The article analyzes medical digital twins, categorizing their benefits into patient health, cost reduction, self-management, and other benefits. In order to ensure adaptability and effectiveness in disease therapy and healthcare management decision-making, the patientoriented ontology of healthcare is examined, and a four-level ontological model is suggested to create its digital twin. The creation of a patient-oriented digital twin of healthcare requires the creation of a digital twin of existing physical objects at each level of its ontological model. The creation of digital twin in healthcare opens wide opportunities for making decisions on provision of safe and high-quality medical care to patients
