The Drosophila melanogaster model of human uric acid nephrolithiasis as a novel in vivo drug screening platform

Nephrolithiasis involves the supersaturation of a stone-forming solute in urine leading to the formation of a calculus. The development of novel therapeutic agents for this multifactorial urological disorder has been hindered by lack of a practical pre-clinical model. Currently established medical treatments can possess unfavorable side effect profiles and inconsistent efficacies in certain metabolic milieus. Here, Drosophila melanogaster ̶ an emerging model for calcium oxalate nephrolithiasis ̶ was investigated as a potential disease model and high throughput drug discovery platform for human uric acid nephrolithiasis. Through disruption of the Uro gene and purine-rich dietary manipulation, we successfully demonstrate the formation of uric acid calculi in fly malpighian tubules as confirmed by ex vivo confocal microscopy, qRT-PCR and scanning electron microscopy. Flies treated with standardized concentrations of drug candidates through a novel assay identified several compounds with potential anti-lithogenic effects underscoring the power of D. melanogaster as a high throughput tool in drug screening for nephrolithiasis

Observation des jeunes de l'Orif Sion: les outils les plus utilisés par les MSP

Le but de cette recherche est de définir quels sont les outils les plus utilisés par les MSP qui doivent évaluer les compétences socioprofessionnelles des apprentis pendant la période d’observation. J’ai choisi d’interroger le MSP responsable de cette évaluation dans chacune des sections représentées au sein de l’institution à l’aide d’un entretien semi-directif et d’un questionnaire. Cette technique mixte m’a permis de définir trois axes principaux de réflexion : l’expérience acquise durant la formation de MSP, l’expérience professionnelle et l’expérience personnelle. Cette recherche montre que les MSP s’appuient de manière significative sur leur vécu pour avoir une référence qui serve de socle à l’évaluation. Toutes les expériences passées ressortent comme étant importantes, mais la plus conséquente et la plus utilisée est l’expérience professionnelle. Pour une grande partie des MSP interrogés, l’expérience acquise durant la formation de MSP est intégrée et ils s’y référent de manière plus ou moins inconsciente. L’expérience personnelle leur sert plus dans la prise de recul sur les situations que comme un réel outil d’évaluation

La gestion de projets à l'Hôpital du Valais

L’Hôpital du Valais regroupe les hôpitaux valaisans en une institution unique. Il a été créé en 2004 sous le nom « Réseau Santé Valais (RSV) ». Le Conseil d’Administration élabore la stratégie d’entreprise. La Direction Générale est responsable de la gestion opérationnelle. Grâce au MIS (Management Information System), la direction surveille la stratégie d'entreprise. Elle doit également pouvoir suivre les projets stratégiques grâce à un outil informatique adapté à ses besoins. Afin d'alimenter cet outil décisionnel, il faut d'abord travailler avec un logiciel de gestion de projets. A l'Hôpital du Valais, nous avons entrepris la mise en place de SharePoint. Nous travaillons sur la réalisation du projet Intranet/Extranet. Celui-ci a pour but de fédérer et de regrouper sous la même technologie les intranets utilisés actuellement et d'offrir une plateforme collaborative. L'objectif de ce travail est d'évaluer la plateforme Web SharePoint comme solution de gestion de projets, de déterminer ses limites et de savoir s'il est nécessaire d'implémenter MS-Project Server

Sex and desire in Muslim cultures : beyond norms and transgression from the Abbasids to the present day

What have different ideas about sex and gender meant for people throughout the history of the Middle East and North Africa? This book traces sex and desire in Muslim cultures through a collection of chapters that span the 9th to 21st centuries. Looking at spaces and periods where sexual norms and the categories underpinning them emerge out of multiple subjectivities, the book shows how people constantly negotiate the formulation of norms, their boundaries and their subversion. It demonstrates that the cultural and political meanings of sexualities in Muslim cultures - as elsewhere – emerge from very specific social and historical contexts. The first part of the book examines how people constructed, discussed and challenged sexual norms from the Abbasid to the Ottoman period. The second part looks at literary and cinematic Arab cultural production as a site for the construction and transgression of gender norms. The third part builds on feminist historiography and social anthropology to question simplistic dichotomies and binaries. Each of the contributions shows how understanding of sexualities and the subjectivities that evolve from them are rooted in the mutually-constitutive relationships between gender and political power. In identifying the plurality of discourses on desires, the book goes beyond the dichotomy of norm and transgression to glimpse what different sexual norms have meant at different times across the Middle East
