    News as a Learning Material for Teaching Basic Grammar to Improve Students’ English Proficiency

    Understanding English news is one of secondary students’ competency in English skills. The researchers choose Arirang News as a learning material for teaching grammar. The purpose of this study was to find out whether or not Arirang News effective to be implemented as a learning material in order to improve students’ English proficiency for ten graders of high school students. The research method was a quantitative method with pre-experimental design. The researcher took X BDP B consist of 33 students as experimental class. The result showed that Arirang News can be said to be effective because based on data post-test experiments were higher than the results of the data pre-test. &nbsp

    THE USE OF STORY FACE TO IMPROVE STUDENTS READING COMPREHENSION BY NARRATIVE TEXT

    The research aimed to analyze Reading  using by story face through visual material, story face. The research was conduct in the class 7.9 of SMPN 03 Tang-Sel. Researcher choose one classes as Experimental class. the use purposive sampling technique by choosing 30 students and conduct pre-test and post-test to gather the researcher data. The experimental class was using story face on learning English. The research lasted for one month and researcher  compared the results of pre-test and post-test through SPSS 22 to conclude the results of research. The experimental class results would be the conclusion of research as this class used Story Face during the lesson. The value of the df t-value is searched based on n=29 with a range of 0,025. Its df t-value is 2,045. Because the t-test value is higher  than the df t-value (5000>2045) h1 is accepted and 0 is rejected, so the learning method is successful in improving student’s reading skill. It means that teaching English by using story face to improve reading comprehension by narrative text was significant

    INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION: UMJ and UTM TEACHING PRACTICE PERSPECTIVES

    This paper reports on an international collaboration between two universities, one private university in Indonesia (Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta, UMJ) and one public and world class university in Malaysia (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, UTM). Both collaborative action plans were implemented through projects in program development, faculty exchange, graduate student/teacher field experiences, pre-service student’s internship mentoring and also conjoined research in the area of a foreign/second language teaching and teacher development, and educational technology. Over a three-year period from 2015-2018 reported that UMJ, i.e Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan (Faculty of Education) sent students for teaching practice to Fakulti Pendidikan UTM in four batches with 65 preservice students. In March 2018, UTM sent seven students to do internship program atUMJ. This collaboration commitment portrayed a smooth international partnership between universities and hoped to be continued in other field of collaborations. Keywords: international collaboration, teaching practice program, UTM, UM

    THE USE OF PICTORIAL MEDIA TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ SPEAKING AND WRITING SKILLS

    Media learning in the form of pictorial media can be utilized optimally to improve students’ speaking and writing skills. Speaking skill, as the first productive skill, is regarded as an oral spoken process for expressingthoughts and feelings, reflecting on experiences, and sharing information. On the other hand, as the second productive skill, writing refers to student’s skills in expressing ideas or messages through written form. This paper has objectives: 1). knowing students' speaking and writing skills; 2). utilizing pictorial media to improve students' speaking and writing skills. A descriptive qualitative research method is employed with 22 respondents from Grade 1 SDN Iwul 01 Parung, Bogor. The data are collected by observation, group discussions, interviews, and research instruments. The pictorial media are made in 2 shapes, namely the pictorial of the dots and the picture intact. The results of research: 1). Student speaking skills: the pictorial media are made in the form ofdots, 14 or 64% of students are correct in the names of animals and fruit plants; benefits of animals and fruit; where animals live and vitamins contained in the fruit. 2). Student writing skills: the pictorial media are made in the form of intact pictorials, 18 or 82% of students are correct in writing the names of animals and fruit plants; benefits of animals and fruit; where animals live and vitamins contained in the fruit. In conclusion, by utilizing the media, the learning process became more interesting, the subject matter was presented clearly. Keywords: learning media, pictorial media, speaking and writing skill

Untuk mengikuti perkembangan yang seperti ini adanya keinginan memberikan informasi tentang mesjid-mesjid sekitar yang lebih lengkap. Di kabupaten kuantan singingi khusus nya di Kec. Kuantan Tengah untuk pemberitahuan informasi masjid Kuantan singing merupakan daerah yang memiliki event yang sudah memiliki jadwalnya sendiri di kalender nasional, event tersebut dinamakan event pacu jalur. Dimana setiap orang yang ada di daerah Kuansing dan jug daerah luar selain kuansing turut ikut meramaikan event pacu jalur ini. , saat event pacu tersebut masyarakat sekitar dan masyarakat luar berkumpul di satu tempat. Saat ingin melakukan sholat, masyarakat akan sibuk mencari lokasi masjid, dengan bertanya dan itu akan memakan waktu. penulis merancang suatu aplikasi yang berjudul “Perancangan Sistem Informasi Pemetaan Lokasi Masjid Berbasis Android Studi Kasus Kec.Kuantan Tengah dengan bermaksud mengkaji lebih dalam mengenai sistem informasi khususnya yang berhubungan dengan sistem informasi geografis lokasi pemetaan masjid

    This study aims to determine the learning strategies used by teachers in learning English for visual impairment students in the eleventh grade of SLB - A Pembina Tingkat Nasional Jakarta. This research was conducted in May 2023 at SLB - A Pembina Tingkat Nasional Jakarta. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data were obtained by means of six students with visual impairment and one English teacher. The results showed that the learning strategy used by English teachers is problem-based learning which is taken based on the ability of visual impairment students themselves. Cognitive style found in visual impairment students are Field - Dependence and Field - Independence. This research also discusses the learning approach, media, difficulties, and obstacles faced, how to overcome the difficulties and obstacles faced, and the classroom environment during learning. The results of this study are expected to be useful for related parties such as schools, teachers, students, and further researchers

    Sampah merupakan suatu benda yang sudah tidak terpakai, memiliki aroma bau, dan biasanya dalam kondis kotor dan dibuang, terdiri dari sampah basah atau organik dan sampah kering atau nonorganik. Apabila sampah tsb oleh manusia tidak di daur ulang dan oleh manusia, juga tidak di olah dengan baik, maka sampah-sampah ini  dapat menimbulkan suatu penyakit dan suatu bencana yang dapat merugikan manusia. Dengan kecerdasan emosional yang baik yang dimiliki setiap manusia,  sampah basah atau sampah jenis organik ini dapat didaur ulang atau di olah dan dikelola menjadi suatu pupuk kompos buatan yang sangat  bermanfaat untuk kehidupan manusia. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui hubungan pembelajaran literasi pengolahan sampah dengan kecerdasan emosional. Pengolahan sampah yang baik dapat dilakukan melalui proses pembelajaran dengan menggunakan literasi. Literasi adalah suatu kompetensi berbahasa yang dimiliki setiap orang (dalam bentuk menyimak, berbicara, membaca, dan menulis). Literasi yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah literasi digital dan literasi cetak. Literasi digital dalam bentuk film animasi 2D tentang Pembuatan Pupuk Kompos. Literasi cetak yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dalam bentuk brosur tentang Pengolahan Sampah. Hasil penelitian: Nilai korelasi yaitu 0,959 yang menunjukkan besarnya hubungan secara bersama-sama dari variabel Literasi Digital dan Literasi Cetak terhadap Kecerdasan Emosional. Nilai ini jika dikuadratkan akan menghasilkan nilai R square yaitu 0,920. Koefisien determinasi bertujuan untuk mengetahui besarnya pengaruh variabel independen terhadap variabel dependen. Hasil koefisien determinasi diatas yaitu 0,920 yang dapat dikatakan variabel Literasi Digital dan Literasi Cetak secara bersamaan mampu mempengaruhi Kecerdasan Emosional sebesar 92,0%
