    IMPROVING STUDENTS LISTENING SKILL THROUGH INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA IN INDONESIA

    Leraning method inovation will influence learning media used and it is hoped to improve learning qualities. One of them is improving students’ critical listening ability. This research was done to know the students activities in learning critical listening by using interactive multimedia and to measure the effetiveness of that multimedia in improving students’ critical listening ability. The data was taken through test, observation, and interview. The result of the research were (1) the students created active, creative, and effective learning process independenly in measuring and developing each step of listening learning model. (2) Interactive multimedia was effective learning media to improve students’ critical listening skill. It could be seen from improving critical listening ability in limited test at experiment class was 42,98%, whereas at control class the rise was only 7,36%. For extensive test, the improving of critical listening ability at experiment class was 33,88%, while control class was only up at 2,62%. (3) Critical listening strategy performance in PMAI Model could improve students’ critical listening ability so that this model is better to be applied as an implimentation of reference in listening learning model. (4) Learning media with interactive multimedia can improve students’ critical listening skill than audio learning media because listening is not only aural aspet but also visual aspect integrated with multimedia

    Developing Listening Skill‘s Learning Through Information Technology. Listening skill for some teachers is more in listening ability rather than listening as a process and mechanic so that it needs skill in designing technology as an interesting learning media. Whereas technology can be used to help the students in developing their listening skill through radio, cassete audio, television, video, and computer or internet media with providing many websites. Each kind of technology gives chance for the students to explore their listening strategy and some cases in developing new strategy. In language class, the students have access to some forms technology whether it is small transistor radio or multimedia interactive. It may give broader access to emphasize certain aspect model such as cross culture, interactional, critical, and contextual dimension in listening skill. Together with technology development, the role of the teacher in helping the students in developing listening skill is changed. Besides, language teacher in exploitation old technology and new technology can fullfill the students\u27 need in anticipation for changing and development of technology

    Model E-Genre Based Learning dalam Pembimbingan Penulisan Proposal Skripsi Mahasiswa Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia FKIP Universitas Bengkulu

    Kondisi pandemi saat ini memungkinkan dosen pembimbing proposal skripsi untuk memaksimalkan pembimbingan secara daring. Namun, dalam kenyataannya tidak semua dosen pembimbing mampu memaksimalkan pembimbingan melalui daring baik secara sinkronus maupun asinkronus, seperti e-learning, google drive, whatsApp, zoom meeting, dan google meet. Penelitian ini bertujuan menggambarkan peningkatan penulisan proposal skripsi mahasiswa melalui model e-genre based learning dalam pembimbingan proposal skripsi mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia JPBS FKIP Universitas Bengkulu Semester VIII. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model e-genre based learning telah mampu meningkatkan kualitas proposal menulis mahasiswa dengan baik (77%) dalam penyelesaian proposalnya pada setiap bagian proposalnya, baik pada bagian pendahuluan, kajian pustaka, maupun metodologi penelitian, yaitu rata-rata peningkatannya sebesar 24%. Hal yang paling dominan terjadi peningkatan dalam menulis proposal mahasiswa ini, yaitu tahap penulisan teks secara mandiri dan secara bersama-sama, tetapi tahap pembanguan konteks dan pemodelan teks sangat menentukan keberhasilan mahasiswa dalam menulis proposal pada tahap pengembangan model berikutnya baik secara sinkronus maupun asinkronus.     GAYA RETORIKA BAGIAN METODOLOGI PENELITIAN PADA JURNAL NASIONAL TERAKREDITASI BIDANG SOSIAL DAN HUMANIORA

    The research methodology section in a journal article is one of the most important things in determining the accuracy of the results of the research conducted by the author. However, in reality it is different from the scientific study that is written, the stages will be different in the journal article in which the article is published. The purpose of this study is to find the rhetorical style of the research methodology section in accredited social and humanitarian national journals by not discussing the linguistic aspects in it. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data collection techniques are grouping knowledge based on sinta accreditation, analyzing the data, determining proportional journal articles, and determining journal articles. Data analysis techniques, namely journal articles that have been determined to be tabulated in the methodology section, transcribe the contents of the research methodology section, tabulate based on linguistic stages and aspects, interpret, and draw conclusions. Validity is done by checking with a team of three experts. This study describes the rhetorical style of the research methodology section of an accredited national journal in the social and humanitarian field by not discussing the linguistic aspects in it. The results of the study indicate that working in the social and humanities fields accredited journal articles in the research methodology section in the social and humanities field are. move the research method which contains a research component method, the research subject section has a research object section, the research procedure section contains component procedures, and the analysis section contains a data analysis component. The linguistic features contained in the methodology section in this study, namely, are, and, namely, with, in, as well as, for, because, and so. This linguistic feature shows that the methodology section of this study presents explanatory and argumentative sentences using complex sentences, both equivalent compound sentences and mixed compound sentences

    Code – Mixing in English Classes of SMPN 14 Kota Bengkulu: Views From the Teachers

    English teachers in all levels of education in Indonesia try hard to make their students able to speak and write English. Teachers sometimes use code-mixing in their classroom instructions. This study is conducted to investigate Code – Mixing in English Classes of SMPN 14 Kota Bengkulu: Views From the Teachers. The participants were the English teachers who teach English at SMPN 14 Kota Bengkulu. The data were collected from audio-recording and interviewing to the teachers. The results indicated that teachers used inter-sentential code-mixing more frequently than intra-sentential code-mixing. It also found that all of the teachers used code-mixing in pre-activity, while activity and post-activity of teaching and learning process in their English classes. They also used code-mixing for giving instruction, translation and asking for clarification. The English-Indonesian pattern is the most frequently used by the teachers in teaching English. The teachers used code-mixing in teaching English in the English classes to make the students able to understand the purpose of teaching and learning process easily

    Features of English Textbooks for the First-year of Senior High School Implementing the 2013-curriculum

    This research aimed to investigate the quality of English for the First Year of Senior High School Implementing the 2013 Curriculum the academic years 2016/2017. The method applied in this research was descriptive method. Data collection techniques used observation check list. There were three textbooks observed. The aspects that were observed consisted of content, presentation, language, and graphic. The result indicated as follows. For the appropriateness the content of view; there were only two textbooks which belong to ‘good\u27 category books, namely Pathway to English for Senior High School Grade X, published by Erlangga and Bahasa Inggris SMA/MA/SMK/MAK Kelas X, published by Kemdikbud. An others textbook had ‘fair\u27 category namely Bahasa Inggris untuk SMA-MA/SMK kelas X, published by Yrama Widya. There was one textbook which was categorized into ‘very good\u27 presentation, namely Bahasa Inggris SMA/MA/SMK/MAK Kelas X, published by kemdikbud. while two other textbooks, namely Pathway to English for Senior High School Grade X and Bahasa inggris untuk SMA-MA/SMK kelas X had ‘good\u27 category. Concerning the language aspect, there was one textbook, nemely Bahasa Inggris SMA/MA/SMK/MAK Kelas X had ‘very good\u27 category. Two other textbooks, namely Pathway to English for Senior High School Grade X and Bahasa inggris untuk SMA-MA/SMK kelas X had ‘good\u27 category. Concerning the graphic aspect, there were two textbooks which belonged to ‘very good\u27 category, namely Pathway for Senior High School Grade X and Bahasa Inggris SMA/MA/SMK/MAK Kelas X. An others textbook namely, Bahasa Inggris SMA- MA/ SMK kelas X had ‘good\u27 category. Thus, three textbooks had good category and be worthy to use because they fulfilled the quality of good textbook

    PENGEMBANGAN LEMBAR KERJA PESERTA DIDIK (LKPD) TEKS EDITORIAL BERBASIS PEDAGOGI GENRE KURIKULUM 2013 KELAS XII SMA NEGERI 9 KOTA BENGKULU

    AbstrakPenelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dengan terbatasnya LKPD teks editorial berbasis pedagogi genre dan LKPD yang ada baru sebatas LKPD berbasis teks. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan produk bahan ajar berupa LKPD (Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik) teks editorial berbasis pedagogi genre yang berpedoman pada kurikulum 2013. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and development) atau R&D, dengan mengadaptasi model pengembangan ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, implementation, and Evaluation), namun dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dalam tiga tahap, yaitu analisis kebutuhan, pengembangan, dan uji validasi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan berupa angket, dengan instrumen penelitiannya yaitu lembar penilaian bahan ajar, lembar analisis kebutuhan bahan ajar guru, Lembar validasi ahli, dan Lembar respon peserta didik. Hasil dari penelitian yang dilaksanakan oleh penulis yaitu menghasilkan suatu produk bahan ajar berupa LKPD teks editorial yang layak digunakan, hal tersebut dibuktikan pada (1) Bahan ajar yang digunakan guru berkriteria cukup dengan skor 59 dan 56. Kemudian pada tahapan analisis kebutuhan guru mengharapkan bahan ajar yang sistematis dan praktis untuk dikembangkan, (2) Bahan ajar didesain sangat maksimal oleh penulis, (3) Pengembangan LKPD melalui empat tahapan yaitu menentukan KI dan KD, Mendesain sampul, Membuat kerangka LKPD, dan merealisasikan kerangka kedalam bentuk LKPD,  (4) Produk LKPD berkategori sangat valid dengan skor 98,4 dan sangat praktis dengan skor 86.Kata Kunci: Pengembangan LKPD, Teks Editorial, Pedagogi Genre.AbstractThis research is motivated by the limited of editorial text LKPDs based on genre pedagogy and the existing LKPDs are only text-based LKPDs. This study aims to develop a teaching material product in the form of LKPD (Student Worksheet) editorial text based on genre pedagogy guided by the 2013 curriculum.The type of research used is research and development (Research and development) or R&D, by adapting the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, implementation, and Evaluation), but in this research it was carried out in three stages, namely needs analysis, development, and validation testing. The data collection technique used was in the form of a questionnaire, with the research instruments, namely the assessment sheet for teaching materials, the needs analysis sheet for the teacher's teaching materials, the expert validation sheet, and the student response sheet. The results of the research carried out by the author are to produce a product of teaching materials in the form of LKPD editorial texts that are suitable for use, this is evidenced in (1) The teaching materials used by teachers have sufficient criteria with scores of 59 and 56, Then at the stage of needs analysis the teacher expects teaching materials which is systematic and practical to be developed, (2) the teaching materials are designed very maximally by the author, (3) the development of the LKPD goes through four stages, namely determining KI and KD, designing the cover, making the LKPD framework, and realizing the framework into the form of LKPD, (4) product LKPD is categorized as very valid with a score of 98.4 and very practical with a score of 86.Keywords: LKPD Development, Editorial Text, Genre Pedagogy

    The Effect of Scientific Approach Based on Tutorial Video on Students\u27 Reading Comprehension of Procedure Text (a Quasi-Experimental Research at Grade VIII of SMPN 4 Kota Bengkulu)

    This research aimed to find out whether there was any effect of implementation scientific based approach using tutorial video on students\u27 reading comprehension as a whole and various aspects in procedure text at grade VIII of SMPN 4 Kota Bengkulu. The design was a quasi-experimental research. The sample consisted of 50 students at grade VIII SMPN 4 Kota Bengkulu, 25 students for experiment group and 25 students for control group. The instrument was a reading test which comprised 50 multiple choice questions, the instrument was tried out with r=0,970. The research findings were as follows; (1) Scientific approach based on tutorial video affected students\u27 whole reading comprehension; (2) scientific approach based on tutorial video affected students\u27 reading comprehension in various aspects of reading comprehension, namely; finding general information, finding specific information, integrating information, and learning from text. Further study is recommended for other text types

    Thematic Progression in Thesis Abstracts in Three Related Science Disciplines: Linguistics, Literature, and Language Teaching

    Current publication demands not only on academics, but also for students as candidates of professional staff, one of them is through a thesis. Theses which have been published in book form will later be compiled into a research article and published in journals, both online and printed. One of the important parts of the research article is the abstract. However, not all abstracts written by the students are in accordance with the right abstract systematically in a related field of science. In fact, abstracts are the main and important part in the description of the contents of a scientific work so that the readers become interested in continuing his reading. In addition, the writing of Indonesian abstracts is the basis for determining the writing in English. One of the tools for determining whether or not an abstract is a language tool is by using a systematic thematic progression pattern. This article aims to describe the thematic progression patterns with language tools in thesis abstracts from three related fields of science, namely linguistics, literature, and language teaching. This research method uses descriptive analysis with content analysis (Gay, 2009 and Arikunto, 2006:82; Ary at al, 2010). The data of this research was abstract in language teaching, linguistic, and literature 2017 with 10 abstracts each of them and totally 30 abstracts. The data was collected by using documentation on studetns’ thesis in 2017. The data was analyzed by using identification, coding, tabulation, interpretation, and conclusion. This thematic progression model using the Eggins 2004 models will be chosen as a theoretical analytical framework. The result of this research showed that thematic progression in the literature field was more variable, then followed by langage teaching and linguistics fields, while from 4 types of thematic progression, types of continous pattern was more dominnt (48%), zig zag pattern (30%), multiple pattern (16%), and tp with derived pattern (6%). It means that based on three fields showed that language teaching is more coherence in thematic progression since limited variation, then, followed by linguistic and literature fields. It can be concluded that type of thematics progression saw that type of continous pattern was more dominant. It means that abstract written in this theses was good enough

    Pelatihan Penulisan Esai bagi Guru Bahasa Indonesia dalam Menanamkan Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis melalui Strategi QAR

    Guru bahasa Indonesia tingkat SMA Kota Bengkulu di era 5.0 dituntut selain mampu melaksanakan tugas dalam mengajar dengan menggunakan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi, juga harus mampu melaksanakan pengembangan keprofesian berkelanjutan (PKB). Salah satu kemampuan PKB guru Bahasa Indonesia yang perlu ditingkatkan yaitu dalam hal publikasi ilmiah. Publikasi ilmiah ini tujuannya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis guru yang akan berdampak pada kemampuan mengajar yang profesional. Salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan publikasi ilmiah guru bahasa Indonesia yaitu  memberikan pelatihan penulisan esai bagi guru bahasa Indonesia dalam menanamkan keterampilan berpikir kritis di Kota Bengkulu melalui Strategi Question-Answer Relationship (QAR). Tujuan dari pelatihan ini agar guru bahasa Indonesia mampu menulis esai dan tulisan ilmiah esainya dapat dipublikasi dalam bentuk buku kumpulan esai ber-ISBN yang dapat dijadikan salah satu persyaratan kenaikan pangkat. Pelatihan ini menggunakan strategi QAR dengan teknik diskusi, ceramah, dan praktik membuat esai. Peserta dalam kegiatan ini adalah guru Bahasa Indonesia tingkat SMA sederajat di Kota Bengkulu. Hasil dari pelatihan ini yaitu guru bahasa Indonesia mampu menulis esai dibuktikan dengan produk kumpulan esai ber-ISBN disusun oleh para guru dengan judul Praktik Baik Guru Bahasa Indonesia dalam Mengajar, video pelatihan yang bisa diakses pada Youtube https://youtu.be/D_KxinOvPS0?si=vo6JCN_oryuY9_Oo, dan publikasi artikel hasil pelatihan pada jurnal Sinta 4 yaitu Jurnal Inovasi Pengabdian Masyarakat Pendidikan.
