Programming with Bunched Implications

Submitted for the degree of Doctor of PhilosophyWe give an operational semantics for the logic programming language BLP, based on the hereditary Harrop fragment of the logic of bunched implications, BI. We introduce BI, explaining the account of the sharing of resources built into its semantics, and indicate how it may be used to give a logic programming language. We explain that the basic input/output model of operational semantics, used in linear logic programming, will not work for bunched logic. We show how to obtain a complete, goal-directed proof theory for hereditary Harrop BI and how to reformulate the operational model to account for the interaction between multiplicative and additive structure. We give examples of how the resulting programming language handles sharing and non-sharing use of resources purely logically and contrast them with Prolog. We describe the use of modules and their applications and discuss the possibilities offered in this context by multiplicative quanti ers. We provide a denotational semantics based on the construction of a least xed point of Herbrand interpretations. Finally we provide an annotated implementation of the operational semantics using the continuation-passing style (CPS)

On the Morphosyntax of Augmentatives in Brazilian Portuguese

This paper investigates augmentative formation with -ão and -zão in Brazilian Portuguese. The empirical guideline is divided into two main lines: (i) the interaction between augmentative and gender, and (ii) the (im)possibility of a non-compositional interpretation being attributed to the augmentative structure. Assuming a syntactic approach to word formation (Halle and Marantz, 1993; Borer, 2003), this paper proposes that -ão augmentative structure may either show one ore two gender heads. When two gender heads are present in the structure, a mechanism of gender agreement (Chomsky, 2000, 2001) is assumed to be operating within words. Nevertheless, when only one gender head is present, no gender agreement is possible and the resulting augmentative gender is a default masculine. Based on Borer (2013), this paper proposes that elements within the first functional head of the Extended Projection are able to trigger non-compositional reading. This is exactly the case of the -ão formative when only one gender head is present. The differences in the behavior between -ão and -zão are derived from the fact that the gender head that attaches to the augmentative -zão is not optional, and while -ão attaches below a number head, -zão, on the other hand, attaches above a number head. Finally, the impossibility that the -zão augmentative constructions be non-compositionaly interpreted is derived from the fact that there is too much syntactic material intervening between the augmentative head and the root

Neutron activation analysis of zinc in forages used in intensive dairy cattle production systems.

When tropical forages are used in dairy cattle feeding, the diet should be commonly supplemented with zinc. Instrumental neutron activation analysis shows to be a very adequate method to determine zinc in forages, due its good accuracy, and its sensibity to dectect small variations in the concentrations of this element

Análise de elementos tóxicos em duas variedades de guandu (Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp), cultivadas em solos tratados, por ativação com nêutrons.

Amostras de folhas inteiras, de 36 plantas pertencentes a duas cultivares de guandu( Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp), foram analisadas pelo método de análise por ativação com nêutrons instrumental (AANI). Cada Planta foi tratada individualmente, com dose simples ou fuplas de adubos minerais, a saber B, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Mo, V, Zn, além de outros corretivos e fosfato. O objetivo deste trabalho e avaliar a contribuição destes tratamentos para o aumento da concentração de AS, Sb, Th e U, nas folhas, já que estes elementos podem ser tóxicos para plantas e animais

FANI-KAYODE AFRICAN HOMOEROTIC PHOTOGRAPHY

This research seeks to analyze the artistic production of the Nigerian photographer Rotimi Fani-Kayode (1955-1989) who found in photography a way to express in a sensitive and transgressive way the issue of homosexuality, bringing his own naked body as a central focus of the compositions. Through the analysis of two of his works, we intend to understand how art allows to open discussion about gender issue in the current times, particularly in countries where the death toll of the LGBTI+ population is still alarming.Esta pesquisa busca analisar a produção artística do fotógrafo nigeriano Rotimi Fani-Kayode (1955-1989) que encontrou na fotografia um meio de expressar de forma sensível e transgressora a questão da homossexualidade, trazendo o seu próprio corpo nu como foco central das composições. Por meio da análise de duas de suas obras pretende-se compreender como a arte possibilita abrir caminhos para discussão sobre a questão de gênero nos tempos atuais, principalmente em países em que o número de mortes da população LGBTI+ ainda é alarmante

O Corpo Como Local De Discurso: artistas mulheres em África

Este artigo tem como objetivo verificar se a arte africana contemporânea pode ser compreendida como uma arte contemporânea global, a partir da linguagem da performance, em que o corpo é considerado local produtor de sentidos. Para isso, analisaremos os trabalhos das artistas Tracey Rose (África do Sul) e Ingrid Mwangi (Quênia), dentro de um contexto onde suas produções podem ultrapassar as fronteiras nacionais, tornando-a próximas das produções de outros países fora da África.This article seeks to verify whether the contemporary African art can be understood as a global contemporary art, from the language of performance, in which the body is considered local producer of meanings. For this, we’ll analyze the work of the artists Tracey Rose (South Africa) and Ingrid Mwangi (Kenya), in a context where their production can overcome national boundaries, making it close to the productions of other countries outside Africa

A proposta deste ensaio é a de analisar como a linguagem da performance (body art) pode ser utilizada como uma potente ferramenta na contribuição para o empoderamento e visibilidade de artistas transexuais, a partir da leitura do conjunto de obras da artista brasileira Lyz Parayzo. Pretende-se demonstrar como estas produções promovem espaço para a criação de suas próprias narrativas dentro do campo das artes, assim como dentro do espaço urbano, atuando como forma de resistência e sobrevivência em São Paulo, uma das cidades mais violentas e que, ao mesmo tempo, é uma das mais importantes no que se refere ao circuito artístico no Brasil

Digitalisasi Desa Berbasis Aplikasi “Simpeldesa”: Inovasi Dalam Mewujudkan Ketahanan Pangan Berkelanjutan Di Desa Cibiru Wetan

Digitalisasi desa dapat berkontribusi terhadap pembangunan nasional, khususnya dalam konteks ketahanan pangan. Melalui pendekatan observasi lapangan dan wawancara dengan berbagai pihak di Desa Cibiru Wetan, Kabupaten Bandung. Adapun penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami bagaimana digitalisasi desa dapat berkontribusi terhadap pembangunan nasional, khususnya dalam konteks ketahanan pangan, sehingga dapat memberikan jawaban bahwa digitalisasi bukan hanya konsep abstrak tetapi dapat diwujudkan dan memberikan manfaat nyata. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa digitalisasi desa berpotensi dalam mendukung pembangunan nasional khususnya mengenai ketahanan pangan melalui peningkatan ketersediaan, akses, pemanfaatan, dan stabilitas pangan. Penelitian ini menghasilkan referensi bagi desa-desa lain di Indonesia dalam mengimplementasikan digitalisasi sebagai salah satu strategi pembangunan, serta memberikan wawasan baru bagi pemerintah daerah dan stakeholder terkait dalam merumuskan kebijakan pembangunan desa yang berorientasi pada ketahanan pangan
