    Risk-Minimizing Two-Player Zero-Sum Stochastic Differential Game via Path Integral Control

    This paper addresses a continuous-time risk-minimizing two-player zero-sum stochastic differential game (SDG), in which each player aims to minimize its probability of failure. Failure occurs in the event when the state of the game enters into predefined undesirable domains, and one player's failure is the other's success. We derive a sufficient condition for this game to have a saddle-point equilibrium and show that it can be solved via a Hamilton-Jacobi-Isaacs (HJI) partial differential equation (PDE) with Dirichlet boundary condition. Under certain assumptions on the system dynamics and cost function, we establish the existence and uniqueness of the saddle-point of the game. We provide explicit expressions for the saddle-point policies which can be numerically evaluated using path integral control. This allows us to solve the game online via Monte Carlo sampling of system trajectories. We implement our control synthesis framework on two classes of risk-minimizing zero-sum SDGs: a disturbance attenuation problem and a pursuit-evasion game.     Study of comparison of maternal and fetal outcomes in spontaneous labour and induced labour

    Background: There has been consistent proportionate increase in the cases of induction of labor, but both maternal and neonatal effects of it remain poorly analysed previously. The present study was undertaken with the objective of comparison of maternal and fetal outcomes between groups of patients undergoing induction of labor and those having spontaneous labor.Methods: In this comparative prevalence study, the participants selected by predefined criteria were divided into 2 groups on the basis of progression of labor. They were spontaneous labor (group A) and induction of labor (group B). All the participants were assessed for various relevant maternal and neonatal outcomes and valid comparisons drawn.Results: A total of 1300 participants were studied. Proportion of patients requiring caesarean section was significantly higher in induction group (39.17%) against the spontaneous labor group (15.37%), with fetal distress being the commonest indication in both groups. The commonest complication noted was postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) (2.96% in group A and 1.98% in group B, p<0.05). Mean birth weight of babies was 2.76±0.42 kgs in spontaneous labor group and 2.68±0.48 kgs in induction of labor group (p>0.05). Incidences of NICU admissions and neonatal deaths were significantly higher in induction of labor group.Conclusions: Induction of labor should be employed judiciously by assessing the maternal and fetal condition and confirming relevant indication and should only be done if continuation of pregnancy is relatively more hazardous to either mother or baby

    Splenic Gestation: A rare case report

    Abdominal ectopic pregnancy accounts for only 1.3% of all ectopic pregnancies and occurs when a fertilised ovum implants in an extra pelvic peritoneal location. Splenic pregnancy is one of the least common form of abdominal ectopic pregnancy. Early diagnosis is essential as delay in treatment carries significant potential for morbidity and mortality. We present a case of 22-year-old female with 6 weeks amenorrhoea and acute abdomen. Patient underwent emergency exploratory laparotomy with suspicion of ?splenic hemangioma  ?ruptured ectopic pregnancy. Splenectomy was performed. Final diagnosis was confirmed on histopathology showing chorionic villi invading the splenic parenchyma.

    Patterns and causes of maternal mortality in tertiary care hospital in Maharashtra, India: a 10-year retrospective study

    Background: Maternal death is a catastrophe, as death of a mother can the entire family. The aim of present study is to find out major patterns, reasons and complications leading to maternal deaths. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted for last 10 years from January 2013 to December 2022 by studying the records of a tertiary care hospital to study the maternal mortalities and complications leading to death. Maternal deaths were analyzed by considering different facets, such as age at death, gravida, locality of residence, admission death interval and direct and indirect cause/s of death, etc. Results: During the study period, total of 107753 live births and 202 maternal deaths have been recorded. The average maternal mortality rate of last ten years was 187.46/100000 live births. Age wise maternal mortality during the study period was high in the age 19 to 25. Major direct cause of maternal mortality was postpartum hemorrhage, (23%) and major indirect cause observed was anemia (43%). Admission to death interval time indicates that delay in provision of treatment and referral to tertiary care hospital might be the reason responsible for high maternal deaths. Conclusions: Maternal deaths can be prevented by improving the health care facilities, ensuring skilled attendants and required basic medication. This is high time to mobilize universal, national, regional, and community-based commitment to decrease maternal mortalities.

    Primary adrenal insufficiency is an endocrine disorder which is characterized by aldosterone and cortisol deficiency due to destruction of the adrenal cortex. The purpose of this case report is to present a rare case of 10-year-old child patient who reported with a chief complaint of pain in the upper left back tooth region of the jaw since a week and was diagnosed as Addison disease with hyperpigmentation of dorsal surface of the tongue, perioral structures and skin folds, nails and overall skin of the body. Oral manifestations along with endocrine issues play a crucial role in diagnosis & treatment planning of this disease. Dental infection can be a cause of adrenal crisis in patients with long term adrenal insufficiency, so paediatric dentists should be aware and a multidisciplinary approach is mandatory to ensure adequate medical and dental treatment in children. Limited number of case reports in literature suggest that adrenal crisis is a rare emergency condition in dentistry, and diagnosis is mandatory to rule out any condition before a dental surgical procedur

    SKA telescope manager: a status update

    The international Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project to build two radio interferometers is approaching the end of its design phase, and gearing up for the beginning of formal construction. A key part of this distributed Observatory is the overall software control system: the Telescope Manager (TM). The two telescopes, a Low frequency dipole array to be located in Western Australia (SKA-Low) and a Mid-frequency dish array to be located in South Africa (SKA-Mid) will be operated as a single Observatory, with its global headquarters (GHQ) based in the United Kingdom at Jodrell Bank. When complete it will be the most powerful radio observatory in the world. The TM software must combine the observatory operations based at the GHQ with the monitor and control operations of each telescope, covering the range of domains from proposal submission to the coordination and monitoring of the subsystems that make up each telescope. It must also monitor itself and provide a reliable operating platform. This paper will provide an update on the design status of TM, covering the make-up of the consortium delivering the design, a brief description of the key challenges and the top level architecture, and its software development plans for tackling the construction phase of the project. It will also briefly describe the consortium’s response to the SKA Project’s decision in the second half of 2016 to adopt the processes set out by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) for system architecture design and documentation, including a re-evaluation of its deliverables, documentation and approach to internal reviews.publishe

    Pan-Cancer Analysis of lncRNA Regulation Supports Their Targeting of Cancer Genes in Each Tumor Context

    Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are commonly dys-regulated in tumors, but only a handful are known toplay pathophysiological roles in cancer. We inferredlncRNAs that dysregulate cancer pathways, onco-genes, and tumor suppressors (cancer genes) bymodeling their effects on the activity of transcriptionfactors, RNA-binding proteins, and microRNAs in5,185 TCGA tumors and 1,019 ENCODE assays.Our predictions included hundreds of candidateonco- and tumor-suppressor lncRNAs (cancerlncRNAs) whose somatic alterations account for thedysregulation of dozens of cancer genes and path-ways in each of 14 tumor contexts. To demonstrateproof of concept, we showed that perturbations tar-geting OIP5-AS1 (an inferred tumor suppressor) andTUG1 and WT1-AS (inferred onco-lncRNAs) dysre-gulated cancer genes and altered proliferation ofbreast and gynecologic cancer cells. Our analysis in-dicates that, although most lncRNAs are dysregu-lated in a tumor-specific manner, some, includingOIP5-AS1, TUG1, NEAT1, MEG3, and TSIX, synergis-tically dysregulate cancer pathways in multiple tumorcontexts

    Controlling Brochothrix thermosphacta as a spoilage risk using in-package atmospheric cold plasma

    Brochothrix thermosphacta is a predominant spoilage microorganism in meat and its control in processing environments is important to maintain meat product quality. Atmospheric cold plasma is of interest for control of pathogenic and spoilage microorganisms in foods. This study ascertained the potential of dielectric barrier discharge atmospheric cold plasma (DBD-ACP) for control of B. thermosphacta in response to key parameters such as treatment time, voltage level, interactions with media composition and post treatment storage conditions. Challenge populations were evaluated as suspensions in PBS, as biofilms in meat model medium and surface attached on raw lamb chops under MAP. ACP treatment (80kV) for 30s inactivated B. thermosphacta populations below detection in PBS, while 5 min treatment achieved a 2 Log cycle reduction using a complex meat model medium and attached cells, suggesting useful control for meat processing facilities. A ‘worst case scenario challenge’ of high population density on a nutritious medium in a biofilm matrix was evaluated using a surface inoculated lamb chop and the antimicrobial efficacy of plasma was reduced but still apparent over the 10 day storage period.     A scene perception system for visually impaired based on object detection and classification using CNN

    In this paper we have developed a system for visually impaired people using OCR and machine learning. Optical Character Recognition is an automated data entry tool. To convert handwritten, typed or printed text into data that can be edited on a computer, OCR software is used. The paper documents are scanned on simple systems with an image scanner. Then, the OCR program looks at the image and compares letter shapes to stored letter images. OCR in English has evolved over the course of half a century to a point that we have established application that can seamlessly recognize English text. This may not be the case for Indian languages, as they are much more complex in structure and computation compared to English. Therefore, creating an OCR that can execute Indian languages as suitably as it does for English becomes a must. Devanagari is one of the Indian languages spoken by more than 70% of people in Maharashtra, so some attention should be given to studying ancient scripts and literature. The main goal is to develop a Devanagari character recognition system that can be implemented in the Devanagari script to recognize different characters, as well as some words
