Effects of different commercial solutions in therapy of hypovolemia in dogs

    Get PDF
Hypovolemia is represented in the clinical pathology of the dog in a high percentage. It mostly presents an accompanying syndrome in many diseased conditions (vomiting, diarrhea, sequestration, burns, cold burns, ascites periocardiac efusions, and others), while they primarily occur following acule hemorrhagia. Having in mind its diverse etiology, hypovolemia, in addition to a lack of fluids, can also be characterized by various other deficiencies (of electrolytes, proteins, albumins, carbohydrates), which presents an important factor for evaluating the condition of the patient and prescribing the adequate therapy

Ethnic Stereotypes in the Discourse of Former-Yugoslav TV and Cinema

This paper is an attempt to analyze particular scenes from the TV series “Složna braća” and “Crni Gruja” and the film “Balcancan” for the purpose of surveying the featured stereotypical representations of former-Yugoslav ethnicities, identifying their roles within the said examples of film and TV discourse, and proving that familiarity with the discursive practices of these particular cultures (discourse communities) is essential for interpreting these artistic discourses (texts) in the manner intended by their authors. Ethnic stereotypes are, therefore, discussed as socio-cultural constructs or myths generated by the discursive practices of a particular culture, as, it is discourses that “bring cultural objects into being by naming them, defining them and delimiting their field of operation” (Stam, Burgoyne and Flitterman-Lewis 2005: 216). They are also viewed as part of a larger structure – a discursive universe comprised of interrelated mythical texts (Johansen and Larsen 2002: 55–56) shaped by former-Yugoslav discourse communities. For this reason, the mentioned texts will be analyzed as sharing the said discursive universe

Fuzzy sets (in)equations with a complete codomain lattice

    Get PDF
summary:The paper applies some properties of the monotonous operators on the complete lattices to problems of the existence and the construction of the solutions to some fuzzy relational equations, inequations, and their systems, taking a complete lattice for the codomain lattice. The existing solutions are extremal - the least or the greatest, thus we prove some extremal problems related to fuzzy sets (in)equations. Also, some properties of upper-continuous lattices are proved and applied to systems of fuzzy sets (in)equations, in a special case of a meet-continuous complete codomain lattice

Determining Free-Flow Speed on Different Classes of Rural Two-Lane Highways

    Get PDF
Current analytical free-flow speed models consider all rural two-lane highways as the same road type despite their different functional significance in the network. The aim of this paper is to develop a prediction model for free-flow speed as a function of speed limit and road geometric characteristics for different classes of rural two-lane highways. The research was conducted on 50 representative sections of the two rural classes of two-lane highways equipped with automatic traffic counters in Serbia. In order to develop the appropriate models, it was necessary to determine the threshold values of vehicle time headway in the free-flow for both classes of rural two-lane highways, based on the total number of 191,720 vehicles. The obtained results show that there are differences in the threshold values of free-flow time headway for different road classes. Namely, it was determined that the values of free-flow time headway for Class I amounted to 6.3 s, and for Class II to 8.4 s. The free-flow speed prediction model for different road classes showed that speed limit had the highest impact on free-flow speed for Class I and II highways, followed by horizontal curve radius and shoulder width

Aims: The objectives of this research were to investigate the associations between microRNA-10b/21/34a and clinical parameters and response to radiotherapy combined with a temozolomide in patients with glioblastoma. Methods: This study included 43 patients with glioblastoma, treated according to Stupp’s regimen. The levels of expression of microRNA-10b/21/34a were measured in the three-time points, at a baseline, at 15th and 30th fraction of radiotherapy (RT). Demographic characteristics of patients, clinical-prognostic factors, acute toxicity, progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and correlation with the levels of expression microRNA-10b/21/34a were analyzed. Results: The median PFS in our cohort was 10 months, and the median OS was 15 months. 51.2% of patients had acute toxicity. 77.3% of the patients with toxicity had toxicity after 30th fraction of radiotherapy. Patients with toxicity were predominantly distributed in the group glioblastoma, NOS subtype. Higher expression levels of microRNA-10b and microRNA-21 are predominantly associated with a higher grade of toxicity. The expression levels of miR-34a were significantly elevated at the 15th and 30th fraction of RT, in comparison to baseline levels. Patients with tumor size less than 4 cm had higher expression levels of miR-10b and miR-21 at the baseline. The longer PFS was noticed in patients with expression values above the median value of microRNA-21 and microRNA-34a. Patients with microRNA-10b expression values higher than the median had better OS. Conclusions: This research showed microRNA-10b/21/34a change over treatment and that they are associated with acute toxicity. This concept is unique and suggests that dynamic changes such as variations of microRNA expression levels can be used as parameters for radiosensitivity, response to RT, and prediction of acute toxicity

In regular schools, teaching is based on respecting принциплес principles od pedagogy, dominated by the principle of obviousness based on the acquisition of knowledge through senses of sight and hearing. This work tries to examine methods for organizing teaching in cases where one of these two pupil’s senses is damaged, as well as the opportunities to adjust and manage educational work according to pupil’s needs..

KAKO SMO PREŽIVJELE POSTKOLONIJALIZAM: Pravo na identitet u dramama fragile! i Nevidljivi Tene Štiviĉić

    Get PDF
U ovome se radu tumače dvije drame suvremene hrvatske autorice Tene Štivičić u kontekstu postkolonijalne kritike i hrvatske drame. Uporište mojega tumačenja drama fragile! i Nevidljivi jesu intertekstualne spone Tene Štivičić i suvremenoga hrvatskog dramskog ženskog pisma koje, kako ću nastojati pokazati, ima dugu povijest progovaranja s margine i o margini. Žensko dramsko pismo kritizira i redefinira „univerzalne“ stavove o pojedincu i društvu, jeziku, povijesti, kulturnoj i estetskoj formi (Lada Čale Feldman).

Many fascinating features of coordination chemistry originate from the fact that small changes in metal ion environment can induce big changes in the properties of the compounds. Moreover, most transition-metal (TM) ions with partially filled d-shells can manifest different spin multiplicity in the ground state that is, different spin states. The identity of the ground spin state and the analysis and description of close lying states of different multiplicity is of crucial importance for the understanding of the microscopic origin of the reactivity, electrochemistry and photochemistry in biomolecules, industrial catalysis and in spin crossover compounds. However, elucidating the role and effect of different spin states on the properties of a system, and even determining which spin state occurs naturally, is challenging task both from an experimental and theoretical point-of-view...Mnoge fascinantne osobenosti koordinacione hemije potiču od činjenice da male promene u okruženju centralnog metala mogu izazvati velike promene u svojstvima jedinjenja.
