    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya hubungan kompensasi dan lingkungan kerja terhadap kinerja karyawan, dengan motivasi sebagai variabel moderasi pada PT Batavia Alumindo Industri. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah karyawan PT Batavia Alumindo Industri. Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 19 karyawan dengan teknik sampel jenuh. Data yang diperoleh kemudian diolah menggunakan alat bantu IBM SPSS Statistics 25. Teknik analisis data menggunakan Korelasi Kendall dan Korelasi Parsial Kendall. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan kompensasi terhadap kinerja karyawan. Terdapat hubungan lingkungan kerja terhadap kinerja karyawan. Motivasi tidak berpengaruh secara nyata pada hubungan antara kompensasi dengan kinerja karyawan. Dan motivasi tidak berpengaruh secara langsung pada hubungan antara lingkungan kerja dengan kinerja karyawan

    General diseases and medications in 687 patients reporting on adverse effects from dental materials.

    OBJECTIVES Examination of patients claiming adverse effects from dental materials can be very challenging. Particularly, systemic aspects must be considered besides dental and orofacial diseases and allergies. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate a cohort of 687 patients reporting on adverse effects from dental materials focusing on findings related to known general diseases or conditions or medication-related findings with relevance to their subjective complaints. METHODS Six hundred eighty-seven patients visiting a specialized consultation on claimed adverse effects from dental materials were retrospectively investigated for their subjective complaints, findings related to known general diseases or conditions, medication-related findings, dental and orofacial findings, or allergies with relevance to their subjective complaints. RESULTS The most frequent subjective complaints were burning mouth (44.1%), taste disorders (28.5%), and dry mouth (23.7%). In 58.4% of the patients, dental and orofacial findings relevant to their complaints could be found. Findings related to known general diseases or conditions or medication-related findings were found in 28.7% or 21.0% of the patients, respectively. Regarding medications, findings related to antihypertensives (10.0%) and psychotropic drugs (5.7%) were found most frequently. Relevant diagnosed allergies toward dental materials were found in 11.9%, hyposalivation in 9.6% of the patients. In 15.1% of the patients, no objectifiable causes for the expressed complaints could be found. CONCLUSIONS For patients complaining of adverse effects from dental materials, findings related to known general diseases or conditions and medications should be given particular consideration, while still in some patients, no objectifiable causes for their complaints can be found. CLINICAL RELEVANCE For patients complaining about adverse effects from dental materials, specialized consultations and close collaboration with experts from other medical fields are eligible

    Alpha-2-macroglobulin loaded microcapsules enhance human leukocyte functions and innate immune response

    Synthetic microstructures can be engineered to deliver bioactive compounds impacting on their pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Herein, we applied dextran-based layer-by-layer (LbL) microcapsules to deliver alpha-2-macroglobulin (α2MG), a protein with modulatory properties in inflammation. Extending recent observations made with dextran-microcapsules loaded with α2MG in experimental sepsis, we focused on the physical and chemical characteristics of these microstructures and determined their biology on rodent and human cells. We report an efficient encapsulation of α2MG into microcapsules, which enhanced i) human leukocyte recruitment to inflamed endothelium and ii) human macrophage phagocytosis: in both settings microcapsules were more effective than soluble α2MG or empty microcapsules (devoid of active protein). Translation of these findings revealed that intravenous administration of α2MG-microcapsules (but not empty microcapsules) promoted neutrophil migration into peritoneal exudates and augmented macrophage phagocytic functions, the latter response being associated with alteration of bioactive lipid mediators as assessed by mass spectrometry. The present study indicates that microencapsulation can be an effective strategy to harness the complex biology of α2MG with enhancing outcomes on fundamental processes of the innate immune response paving the way to potential future development in the control of sepsis

    High-throughput screen with the l,d-transpeptidase LdtMt2 of Mycobacterium tuberculosis reveals novel classes of covalently reacting inhibitors

    Disruption of bacterial cell wall biosynthesis in Mycobacterium tuberculosis is a promising target for treating tuberculosis. The L,D-transpeptidase LdtMt2, which is responsible for the formation of 3 → 3 cross-links in the cell wall peptidoglycan, has been identified as essential for M. tuberculosis virulence. We optimised a high-throughput assay for LdtMt2, and screened a targeted library of ∼10 000 electrophilic compounds. Potent inhibitor classes were identified, including established (e.g., β-lactams) and unexplored covalently reacting electrophilic groups (e.g., cyanamides). Protein-observed mass spectrometric studies reveal most classes to react covalently and irreversibly with the LdtMt2 catalytic cysteine (Cys354). Crystallographic analyses of seven representative inhibitors reveal induced fit involving a loop enclosing the LdtMt2 active site. Several of the identified compounds have a bactericidal effect on M. tuberculosis within macrophages, one with an MIC50 value of ∼1 μM. The results provide leads for the development of new covalently reaction inhibitors of LdtMt2 and other nucleophilic cysteine enzymes

    The ACM Multimedia 2022 Computational Paralinguistics Challenge addresses four different problems for the first time in a research competition under well-defined conditions: In the Vocalisations and Stuttering Sub-Challenges, a classification on human non-verbal vocalisations and speech has to be made; the Activity Sub-Challenge aims at beyond-audio human activity recognition from smartwatch sensor data; and in the Mosquitoes Sub-Challenge, mosquitoes need to be detected.     Climate-smart agriculture investment portfolios in Guyana: a way forward

    Guyana has densely populated coastal regions and relatively inaccessible Hinterland and is highly vulnerable to climate change and climate variability. The agriculture sector requires a transformation towards climate-resilient agriculture systems. In order to respond to this priority, the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Government of Guyana and local partners, joined efforts to develop and implement a Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) financed project, ‘Development of a Framework for Prioritizing Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA)’. Interventions were focused on two regions in Guyana - Region 3 (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) and Region 9 (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo)

    AEGIS: Demographics of X-ray and Optically Selected AGNs

    We develop a new diagnostic method to classify galaxies into AGN hosts, star-forming galaxies, and absorption-dominated galaxies by combining the [O III]/Hbeta ratio with rest-frame U-B color. This can be used to robustly select AGNs in galaxy samples at intermediate redshifts (z<1). We compare the result of this optical AGN selection with X-ray selection using a sample of 3150 galaxies with 0.3<z<0.8 and I_AB<22, selected from the DEEP2 Galaxy Redshift Survey and the All-wavelength Extended Groth Strip International Survey (AEGIS). Among the 146 X-ray sources in this sample, 58% are classified optically as emission-line AGNs, the rest as star-forming galaxies or absorption-dominated galaxies. The latter are also known as "X-ray bright, optically normal galaxies" (XBONGs). Analysis of the relationship between optical emission lines and X-ray properties shows that the completeness of optical AGN selection suffers from dependence on the star formation rate and the quality of observed spectra. It also shows that XBONGs do not appear to be a physically distinct population from other X-ray detected, emission-line AGNs. On the other hand, X-ray AGN selection also has strong bias. About 2/3 of all emission-line AGNs at L_bol>10^44 erg/s in our sample are not detected in our 200 ks Chandra images, most likely due to moderate or heavy absorption by gas near the AGN. The 2--7 keV detection rate of Seyfert 2s at z~0.6 suggests that their column density distribution and Compton-thick fraction are similar to that of local Seyferts.
