Visions of Students at the University teaching ICT Mediated
The aim of the research was to understand the perception of university students in relation to the aspects that explain the educational experience with ICT in the three dimensions considered by Garrison, Anderson and Archer (2000): didactic, cognitive and social. Mapping light-dressed Floquet bands by highly nonlinear optical excitations and valley polarization
Ultrafast nonlinear optical phenomena in solids have been attracting major
interest as novel methodologies for femtosecond spectroscopy of electron
dynamics and control of material properties. Here, we theoretically investigate
strong-field nonlinear optical transitions in a prototypical two-dimensional
material, hBN, and show that the k-resolved conduction band charge occupation
patterns induced by an elliptically-polarized laser can be understood in a
multi-photon resonant picture; but remarkably, only if using the Floquet
light-dressed states instead of the undressed matter states. Consequently, our
work establishes a direct measurable signature for band-dressing in nonlinear
optical processes in solids, and opens new paths for ultrafast spectroscopy and
valley manipulation

The digital gap: gender and computer games
The purpose of this article is to consider a specific aspect which has become an obvious source of social inequality in the digital era: computer games from a gender perspective. To this end, the existing literature is reviewed to show that despite the positive educational aspects of play, educational use of computer games is minimal. Details are also given of various research which shows the gender bias in different aspects related to multimedia games. The results of the research carried out by the authors (which received a subsidy from the Catalan Autonomous Government Catalan Women's Institute), dealing with the prevailing sexism in multimedia games, is also listed. Finally, the need for safeguarding the quality of multimedia games is highlighted, without forgetting new technologies' socialising importance in today's society
Litter Windrows in the South-East Coast of the Bay of Biscay: An Ocean Process Enabling Effective Active Fishing for Litter
Large scale convergence regions of floating marine litter are commonly observed in semi-enclosed seas as the Bay of Biscay. However, clean-up activities on such accumulation regions are limited by the spread of the large-size floating litter on the sea surface. Data gathered by a small-scale fishing vessel devoted to active fishing for floating litter activities during the spring and summer of 2018 reveals that the linear streaks of high concentration of floating litter (so-called litter "windrows") are common accumulation structures in the south-east coast of the Bay of Biscay. The random search of litter windrows for their collection through surface tows of macro-nets was proved to be an effective action for floating litter mitigation. A total of 196 tows collected 16.2 tons of floating marine litter in 68 working days. Most of the litter windrows were around 1 km length and, on average, accumulated 77.75 kg of floating marine litter. Fishing, shipping and aquaculture sectors were the source of 35% of the 4,130 litter items analyzed (55% in weight of the sourced items), and plastic was the most common type of material (96% in terms of items). A better understanding of the phenomenon of the litter windrows, capable to guide clean-up efforts in space and time, would provide a considerable improvement in the efficiency of mitigation actions to reduce the marine litter pollution. The observations of litter windrows in the coastal area of the south-east of the Bay of Biscay demonstrate the key role of submesoscale processes in the distribution of FML. The present work provides a thorough description of floating litter windrows in nature, which it was non-existent to date. The results are the kind of proof necessary to boost the research addressed on the submesoscale aggregations of FML. Coupling litter windrows observations with remote-sensing technology and high-resolution modeling techniques offer great opportunities for the mitigation actions against marine litter

Electromagnetic tests of horizonless rotating black hole mimickers
The interest in the implications that astrophysical observations have for the
understanding of the structure of black holes has grown since the first
detection of gravitational waves. Many arguments that are put forward in order
to constraint alternative black hole models rely on substantial assumptions
such as perfect spherical symmetry, which implies absence of rotation. However,
given that astrophysical black holes will generally exhibit nonzero angular
momentum, realistic constraints must take into account the effects of rotation.
In this work we analyze the gravitational effect that rotation has on the
emission from the surface of ultracompact objects, by studying how angular
momentum affects the propagation of light rays. This allows us to evaluate the
reliability of the constraints derived for supermassive black holes (more
specifically, Sagittarius A* and M87*) assuming lack of rotation, as presented
in [Astrophys. J. 701, 1357 (2009); Astrophys. J. 805, 179 (2015)]. We find
that for rapidly spinning objects rotation can significantly affect the
escaping probability of photon emitted from the surface of the object, with a
significant increase at the equatorial regions and a decrease at the poles with
respect to the non-rotating case. For not so rapidly spinning black hole
candidates like Sagittarius A*, such modifications do not affect significantly
the present constraints, which are nevertheless weaker than originally supposed
due to the relativistic lensing here considered and additional phenomenological
parameters that describe basic processes such as absorption. However, taking
into account the angular dependence of the superficial emission of rapidly
spinning black hole mimickers will be necessary for future studies of objects
like e.g. M87*.Comment: V2: 25 pages, 14 figures, 8 tables. Additional discussions included
