Offline Metrics for Evaluating Explanation Goals in Recommender Systems

Explanations are crucial for improving users' transparency, persuasiveness, engagement, and trust in Recommender Systems (RSs). However, evaluating the effectiveness of explanation algorithms regarding those goals remains challenging due to existing offline metrics' limitations. This paper introduces new metrics for the evaluation and validation of explanation algorithms based on the items and properties used to form the sentence of an explanation. Towards validating the metrics, the results of three state-of-the-art post-hoc explanation algorithms were evaluated for six RSs, comparing the offline metrics results with those of an online user study. The findings show the proposed offline metrics can effectively measure the performance of explanation algorithms and highlight a trade-off between the goals of transparency and trust, which are related to popular properties, and the goals of engagement and persuasiveness, which are associated with the diversification of properties displayed to users. Furthermore, the study contributes to the development of more robust evaluation methods for explanation algorithms in RSs

VIOLÊNCIA DOMÉSTICA CONTRA A MULHER: UM ESTUDO HEMEROGRÁFICO

A prática de violência contra a mulher é antiga e suas consequências refletem diferentes aspectos da vida das vítimas e da sociedade. Considerando a importância da discussão do tema e sua relação de proximidade e afeto, no núcleo familiar, apresenta-se como objetivo desse estudo descrever os efeitos da violência doméstica contra a mulher, sob a perspectiva da Lei Maria da Penha, sua relação na tipificação das múltiplas formas de violência acontecidas em ambiente doméstico e, a consequente proteção (à mulher), com vistas a responder a seguinte pergunta de pesquisa: A aplicabilidade da Lei Maria da Penha é eficaz perante a violência sofrida, no âmbito familiar, frente a um caso concreto? Para isso, efetivou-se uma pesquisa hemerográfica, por meio de um estudo de caso, descritivo e documental, provido através de fontes diretas, mais precisamente, 12 arquivos online de notícias de jornais da cidade de Manaus (AM), acessados no período de fevereiro a março de 2019, disponibilizados gratuitamente no website dos portais de notícias. Neste intento, buscou-se: analisar o tipo de conflitividade com a problematização em torno do caso em tela e; identificar os atores sociais (vítima e perpetrador) e atores institucionais (delegacia) envolvidos no caso analisado. Privilegiou-se também a dimensão espacial e temporal, com vistas a compreender o fenômeno e identificar seus desdobramentos. Conclui-se que a exposição da mulher aos mais variados tipos de violência é contruto sócio-histórico e, mesmo com o marco legal, não se percebe, de maneira concreta, sinais efetivos de superação desta realidade. Lei Maria da Penha.   ABSTRACT: The practice of violence against women is old and its consequences reflect different aspects of the lives of victims and society. Considering the importance of the discussion of the topic and its relation of closeness and affection, in the family nucleus, the purpose of this study is to describe the effects of domestic violence against women, under the perspective of the Maria da Penha Law, its relation in the typification of multiple forms of violence occurring in a domestic environment, and the consequent protection (the woman), in order to answer the following research question: The applicability of the Maria da Penha Law is effective against the violence suffered, in the family context, against a case concrete? In order to do this, a newspaper research was carried out, through a descriptive and documentary case study, provided by direct sources, more precisely, 12 online newspaper archives of the city of Manaus (AM), accessed in the February to March 2019, available free of charge on the news portals website. In this attempt, we sought to: analyze the type of conflict with the problematization around the case on screen and; identify the social actors (victim and perpetrator) and institutional actors (police station) involved in the case analyzed. The spatial and temporal dimension were also privileged, with a view to understanding the phenomenon and identifying its unfolding. It is concluded that the exposure of women to the most varied types of violence is a socio-historical construct and, even with the legal framework, concrete signs of overcoming this reality are not perceived in concrete way.   Keywords: Violence against women. Sistema de control interno en ventas para la mejora en la gestión comercial de Distribuidora Deportiva del Norte S. A. C., Trujillo, 2016

RESUMEN El presente trabajo de investigación tuvo como finalidad demostrar que la implementación del sistema de control interno en el área de ventas contribuye a mejorar la gestión comercial de la empresa Distribuidora Deportiva del Norte S.A.C., para tal efecto se empleó un diseño No Experimental y se utilizó el método Ex post facto transversal, este tipo de investigación es apropiada para establecer posibles relaciones de causa-efecto observando que ciertos hechos han ocurrido y buscando en el pasado los factores que los hayan podido ocasionar. La muestra está constituida por la información del primer trimestre del año 2016 del área de ventas. Para obtener los datos de los dominios de las variables, se aplicó la técnica de análisis entrevista y fichas de observación. Para lograr esto, primero se ha realizado un análisis FODA del área de ventas, y un diagnóstico del proceso operativo del área, así como también la revisión de las políticas que tenían establecidas durante el primer trimestre, lo cual permitió ante estas vulnerabilidades, implementar un proceso operativo para el área, un MOF, donde se detalló de manera general y especifica las funciones del personal involucrado en el área, elaborar flujograma del área de ventas y organigrama de la empresa. Por otra parte, con la propuesta que se ha indicado al Área de Ventas, y luego de haber evaluado si el sistema de control interno contribuye a que los procesos de comercialización cuenten con un control interno eficiente, es decir, logren que los procesos de sus operaciones estén bien definidos y organizados, para que alcancen niveles óptimos, disminuyendo así los errores e irregularidades dentro de la empresa Distribuidora Deportiva del Norte S.A.C.ABSTRACT This research aimed to demonstrate that the implementation of the internal control system in the sales area contributes to improving the commercial management of the company Distribuidora Deportiva del Norte SAC, for this purpose was used a non-experimental design and used the Ex post facto transversal method, this type of research is appropriate to establish possible cause-effect relationships noting that certain events have occurred in the past and looking for factors that may have caused. The sample consists of the information for the first quarter of 2016 the sales area. For data domains of the variables, the analysis technique interview, observation files and document analysis it was applied. To accomplish this, first it has conducted a FODA analysis of sales area, and a diagnosis of the operating process of the area, as well as the review of the policies that were established during the first quarter, which allowed before these vulnerabilities, implement a operational process for the area a MOF, where in this detailed general and specifies the functions of the personnel involved in the area, develop flow chart of the sales and organization chart. Um estudo sobre o perfil do administrador através da teoria das inteligências múltiplas em amostras pareadas

[PT] Esse estudo pretende reconhecer e analisar o perfil do estudante do curso de Administração de uma Universidade pública localizada no Estado do Ceará-Brasil e o desenvolvimento das suas inteligências múltiplas, principalmente as interpessoal e intrapessoal, no decorrer do tempo. Trata-se da confrontação dos resultados desse mesmo estudo (parte da tese da autora) realizado no início do ano de 2015, sendo portanto, um estudo quantitativo, de campo, longitudinal, com amostras pareadas de 30% da quantidade da turma que iniciou em janeiro daquele ano. No que concerne ao tratamento e análise dos dados recolhidos foram privilegiados procedimentos estatísticos através da utilização do software estatístico SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Science), utilizando também os dados da pesquisa anterior e fazendo um estudo comparativo antes-depois ou seja, amostras pareadas. A reaplicação da pesquisa permitiu verificar o crescimento e desenvolvimento das inteligências dos alunos no decorrer do curso e, paralelamente, consolidou a atuação da universidade como locus do saber, mantendo-se sempre que considerar a necessidade de melhoria contínua e da busca de novos métodos de aprendizagem.[EN] This study aims to recognize and analyze the profile of the student of the administration course of the Vale do Acaraú State University in the State of Ceará-Brazil and the development of their multiple intelligences, especially the interpersonal and intrapersonal, over time. This is a comparison of the results of this same study (part of the author's thesis), carried out at the beginning of the year 2015, and therefore, a quantitative, field, longitudinal study with paired samples of 30% of the class january of that year. Regarding the treatment and analysis of the collected data, statistical procedures were favored using the statistical software SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Science), also using the data of the previous research and doing a comparative study before-after, that is, paired samples. A influência e a percepção das cinco forças competitivas de Michael Porter: um estudo no setor empresarial de Sobral - CE

Este trabalho aborda o estudo das Cinco Forças Competitivas de Porter no setor empresarial (panificação) da cidade de Sobral – CE, com o objetivo de analisar a percepção dos empresários com relação à atuação dessas forças no setor local. Como referencial teórico, o estudo inicia com uma abordagem a respeito das Cinco Forças Competitivas de Porter como instrumento para o planejamento estratégico e uma caracterização de cada uma destas forças. A parte dedicada ao estudo empírico traz os resultados de uma pesquisa de caráter quantitativo realizada com os empresários das padarias utilizando um instrumento estatístico que possibilita uma análise segura dos dados (Teste Qui-Quadrado), os quais revelam as percepções dos mesmos acerca da intensidade das Forças de Porter dentro do setor na cidade de Sobral. Com as informações obtidas, foi possível concluir que apenas uma delas possui forte atuação no setor. As demais, na visão dos empresários, apresentam uma atuação tímida. Essas forças com atuação tímida e pouca agressiva, atualmente podem não ser vistas como ameaças, mas em longo prazo elas podem se reestruturar e atingir fortemente o desempenho do setor.This work deals with the study of Porter's Five Competitive Forces in the business sector (breadmaking) of the city of Sobral - CE, with the objective of analyzing the entrepreneurs' perception regarding the performance of these forces in the local sector. As a theoretical reference, the study begins with an approach regarding the Five Porter Competitive Forces as an instrument for strategic planning and a characterization of each of these forces. The part devoted to the empirical study brings the results of a quantitative research carried out with the entrepreneurs of the bakeries using a statistical instrument that allows a safe analysis of the data (Chi-Square Test), which reveal their perceptions about the intensity of the Forces of Porter within the sector in the city of Sobral. With the information obtained, it was possible to conclude that only one of them has strong performance in the sector. The others, in the view of the entrepreneurs, present a timid performance. These timid, low-aggressive forces today may not be seen as threats, but in the long run they can restructure and strongly achieve industry performance.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
