Monitor duurzaam voedsel 2010

In dit rapport staan de resultaten van de Monitor Duurzaam Voedsel. Het is een inventarisatie van de consumentenbestedingen aan duurzame van keurmerken voorziene voedselproducten. Dit is de eerste monitor die deze cijfers weergeeft voor in Nederland verkrijgbare producten. Uit de monitor komt naar voren dat de duurzame consumptie in 2010 met bijna 30 procent is toegenomen. De groei is te danken aan de keuzen van consumenten maar ook door de inspanningen van verwerkers en aanbieders. Zij hebben in hun keuze van producten en assortimenten de duurzame producten extra aandacht gegeven. Alle verkoopkanalen hebben bijgedragen aan deze groei. Vergeleken met de algemene ontwikkelingen van de omzet aan voedsel, die in 2010 in Nederland vrijwel nihil was, is dit een bijzondere prestatie. In het rapport komt aan bod wat er gemeten is en hoe. De ontwikkeling van de omzet aan duurzame voeding in totaal, specificatie van de markt van diervriendelijker producten, ontwikkelingen in de markt van biologische producten en een overzicht van de biologische landbouwproductie

Session E2: Downstream Migration of 2+ Salmon Smolts (Salmo Salar) in the River Meuse in the Netherlands

Abstract: Downstream migration of 2+ salmon smolts (Salmo salar) was studied in the Meuse in the Netherlands, in the period 2009-2013. Smolts (n =897) with implanted NEDAP transponders, were released at different locations in the lower part of the Meuse in Belgium (Berwijn, Moelingen) and the upper part of the Meuse in the Netherlands (Stevensweert, Linne), and tracked by NEDAP trail stations at 41 fixed locations distributed along the Meuse and the Berwijn to the North sea (distance more than 300 km). Over the period 2009-2013 70% (n =628) of the smolts were detected. Numbers of smolts reaching the North sea varied per year, with a minimum of 0% and a maximum of 15% of the detected fish. The route prevailingly used to migrated to sea by way of the Haringvliet. Duration of smolt migration was mostly less than one month, with average migration speeds always below 1.2 m/s. The influence of the hydro power station (HPS) Linne on the migration was examined. Yearly mortality per km of smolts, over the river stretch Linne – Lith (130 km) turned out to be higher especially in a short distance downstream of the HPS, indicating a vulnerability of the species which is higher for passing the hydropower station than for passing the weir. Session C5: Downstream Migration of Silver Eel (Anguilla Anguilla) in the River Meuse in the Netherlands 2008 – 2012

Abstract: Downstream migration of European silver eel (Anguilla anguilla) was studied in the Meuse in the Netherlands, in the period 2008-2012. Silver eel (n = 840), with implanted NEDAP transponders, were released at different locations, in the lower part of the Meuse in Belgium (Berwijn at Moelingen) and in the upper part of the Meuse in the Netherlands (Ohé en Laak). Fish were tracked by telemetry at 41 fixed NEDAP Trail detection stations distributed along the Meuse from the confluence with the Berwijn to the North sea, a distance of more than 330 km. Over the period 2008- 2013 75% (n = 630) of the eels were detected. Eel numbers reaching the North sea varied between 6-10% yearly. Most eels migrated to sea by way of the Haringvliet. Silver eel migration showed much individual variation, with fish reaching the sea within several days after being released and fish postponing their downstream migration for more than one year. The onset of migration was stimulated by increasing river discharge. Fish from different maturation classes showed no significant differences in migration speeds. Average individual migrations speed ranged from 0,3 to 1,6 m/s, indicative for at least a partly active migration (average river flow being 1 m/s). Generally migration speed slowed when fish approached sluices and weirs in the Meuse. The influence of the hydro power station (HPS) Linne on the migration was examined. Mortality of silver eel per kilometre, over the river stretch Linne – Lith (130 km) turned out to be twice as high after fish had passed the HPS (0,43% versus 0,22% passing the weir at the same location)

EDUCAÇÃO EM DIREITOS HUMANOS: INTERCULTURALIDADE E RAZOABILIDADE EM DEMOCRACIAS PLURAIS

A partir de conceitos da teoria política de John Rawls e da compreensão de direitos humanos sob uma perspectiva intercultural, este trabalho pretende demonstrar a relação existente entre estas formulações e a educação em direitos humanos. Abordando as noções de razoabilidade, racionalidade e democracia plural, extraídas da obra de Rawls, propõe-se a utilização destas concepções para fundamentar a importância da educação em direitos humanos no viés intercultural como forma de fortalecer a convivência entre as diferentes subjetividades constituintes do corpo social. A educação, seja pública ou privada, deve ter como um de seus propósitos a estabilidade da sociedade democrática e plural. Impõe-se, então, que haja a intencionalidade de inclusão de diferentes doutrinas abrangentes, as quais, através de um consenso sobreposto, devem estabelecer os critérios para a convivência harmônica e democrática

Pedagogia da justiça : uma revisão da literatura brasileira sobre a educação na obra de John Rawls

Destarte, esta monografia consiste na análise de referências bibliográficas produzidas por pesquisadores brasileiros entre 2002 e 2017, e que tenham tratado de descrever, exclusivamente, uma teoria formativa em Rawls ou uma relação clara entre sua obra e a educação. A título de didatismo, esta pesquisa foi dividida em três partes, nomeadamente, uma introdução à teoria da justiça de Rawls, um olhar sobre uma possível pedagogia da justiça e suas bases, e a apresentação de outras questões relacionadas à educação.Abstract: This paper aims to gather and comment on the main studies on the connections between John Rawls'work and education written in Brazil. Considering the author's importance for contemporary political philosophy, as well as the complexity of his writings, this paper intends to enable the access to the subject by new researchers. Rawls did not intend to define a pedagogical theory. Nevertheless, his theory of justice is dependent on the individuals that compose the society theorised by him receiving an adequate moral education. Hence, this study analyses the literature produced by Brazilian researchers between 2002 and 2017 that has attempted to exclusively describe a theory of education in Rawls or to draw a clear relation between his work and education. To add clarity, this review was divided into three parts: an introduction to Rawls' theory of justice, a vision of a possible pedagogy of justice and its foundations, and the presentation of other issues related to education

Bewoners profielen van duurzame wijken:huur- en koopmotieven van een duurzame woning inrelatie met de leefstijlen en de toepassing van duurzaamheid

In dit onderzoeksrapport staat de wijk de Drielanden te Groningen Centraal. Aan de noordoostzijde van de stad Groningen is de wijk gelegen. De wijk drielanden bestaat sinds 1995, in die tijd was het een vooruitstrevende wijk op het gebied van duurzaamheid. Tegenwoordig worden veel nieuwe duurzame wijken gebouwd, maar er is een terugloop geconstateerd in de koop van woningen in duurzame wijken. Met behulp van dit onderzoek wordt duidelijk hoe er in de toekomst op koop- en verkoopmotieven ingespeeld kan worden. Er gaat onderzocht worden wat de motieven zijn voor de koop van een duurzame woning, het gaat hier om bewuste, onbewuste en psychologische motieven. Dit leidt tot de volgende probleemstelling: Welke kenmerken van de bewoners uit de Drielanden hangen samen met de koopmotieven? Het vraagtype van de probleemstelling is definiëren. Het onderzoek is uitgevoerd met een enquête, dit is het meetinstrument. Het totale domein van dit onderzoek bedraagt 390 huishoudens verdeeld over de drie straten in de wijk Drielanden; Waterland met 166 huishoudens, Zonland met 142 huishoudens en Mooiland met 82 huishoudens. Het onderzoek is uitgevoerd om de verkoop- en koopmotieven in de duurzame wijk te onderzoeken, dit zijn de onderzoekseenheden van het onderzoek. De methode die gebruikt is voor het onderzoek is een combinatie van de kwantitatieve (desk research) en de kwalitatieve strategie (enquête). De doelstelling van het onderzoek is weten welke motieven kopers van 'duurzame woningen' hebben om een dergelijke woning te kopen, zodat de neergang in de verkoop en verhuur van duurzame woningen kan worden tegengegaan. De hoofdresultaten uit het onderzoek hebben betrekking op de leefstijlen, toepassing van duurzaamheid en de koop- en huurmotieven van de bewoners van de Drielanden. Er zijn vier leefstijlen te onderscheiden. Eén leefstijl is minder vertegenwoordigd, namelijk vitaliteit. Deze beslaat de bevolkingsgroep die ego georiënteerd en extravert is. De toepassing van duurzaamheid is gemiddeld matig tot licht voldoende. Voor een duurzame wijk is dit zeer beneden de maat. In verhouding tot de motieven is dit te verklaren aangezien ongeveer 1 op de 10 bewoners voor duurzaamheid heeft gekozen. De overige bewoners hebben andere redenen als ligging en een ruimere woning. Dit zijn direct de twee meest voorkomende motieven. Er zal ongetwijfeld samenhang zijn tussen duurzaamheid en een ruim opgezette wijk. Het ruimer wonen kan dus in verband staan met het motief duurzaam wonen. Dit zal een juist onderwerp zijn voor een eventueel vervolgonderzoek. A crítica moral e a articulação política do mérito na teoria da justiça de John Rawls

Se em uma primeira aproximação da teoria tem-se a impressão de que há uma forte rejeição do mérito como um critério de justiça, uma leitura mais aprofundada parece mostrar que a crítica de Rawls não o exclui de maneira absoluta. O autor rejeita o mérito moral como um princípio de justiça, mas não nega o valor dos talentos e esforços dos indivíduos na busca pela realização de seus objetivos pessoais, o que dá margem a alguma ideia de mérito em sua teoria. Unindo a rejeição do mérito como critério de distribuição com a valorização do mérito como uma forma de incentivar os talentos, Rawls dá coesão a sua concepção de sociedade como um sistema de cooperação, distribuindo o resultado dos talentos entre as pessoas e dando especial atenção aos menos privilegiados. Dessa forma o autor acaba por institucionalizar a solidariedade. Será defendida a ideia de que, ao mesmo tempo em que elabora uma crítica do ponto de vista moral ao mérito, Rawls o articula em um sentido político criando uma espécie de mérito solidário.Abstract: The objective of this dissertation is to carry out an analysis of John Rawls's work having the notion of merit as a key concept. If in a first approximation, the impression that there is a strong rejection of merit as a criterion of justice in the theory stands out. Nevertheless, further reading seems to show that Rawls' criticism does not exclude merit in absolute terms. The author rejects moral desert as a principle of justice, but does not deny the value of the talents and efforts of individuals in the pursuit of their personal goals, which gives rise to some idea of merit in his theory. Combining the rejection of merit as a distribution criterion with the valorization of merit as a way to encourage talents, Rawls gives cohesion to his conception of society as a system of cooperation, distributing the result of talents among people and paying special attention to the least well off. Thus, the author ends up institutionalizing solidarity. The idea is to defended that, at the same time that he elaborates a critique from the moral point of view to merit, Rawls articulates it in a political sense creating a kind of solidary merit

The objective of this article is to present basic concepts of the work of John Rawls and introduce new readers to the discussion about education that can be extracted from his writings. Considering the author's importance to contemporary political philosophy, as well as the complexity of his texts, it is sought to facilitate the access of the theme to new researchers. Rawls was not concerned specifically on defining a pedagogical theory, however, his theory of justice shows itself dependent on an adequate moral formation of the individuals that compose the society theorized by him. Thus, this article consists of the analysis of bibliographical references produced by brazilian researchers who have tried to describe, exclusively, a formative theory in Rawls or a clear relation between his work and education. Didactically, this research was divided into two parts, namely, a brief introduction to Rawls' theory of justice and a look at a possible pedagogy of justice and its foundations.Este trabalho tem o objetivo de apresentar conceitos básicos da obra de John Rawls e introduzir novos leitores na discussão referente à  educação que pode ser extraída de seus escritos. Computer-aided detection of fasciculations and other movements in muscle with ultrasound:Development and clinical application

Objective: To develop an automated algorithm for detecting fasciculations and other movements in muscle ultrasound videos. Fasciculation detection in muscle ultrasound is routinely performed online by observing the live videos. However, human observation limits the objective information gained. Automated detection of movement is expected to improved sensitivity and specificity and increase reliability.Methods: We used 42 ultrasound videos from 11 neuromuscular patients for an iterative learning process between human observers and automated computer analysis, to identify muscle ultrasound movements. Two different datasets were selected from this, one to develop the algorithm and one to validate it. The outcome was compared to manual movement identification by clinicians. The algorithm also quantifies specific parameters of different movement types, to enable automated differentiation of events.Results: The algorithm reliably detected fasciculations. With algorithm guidance, observers found more fasciculations compared to visual analysis alone, and prescreening the videos with the algorithm saved clinicians significant time compared to reviewing full video sequences. All videos also contained other movements, especially contraction pseudotremor, which confused human interpretation in some.Conclusions: Automated movement detection is a feasible and attractive method to screen for fasciculations in muscle ultrasound videos.Significance: Our findings affirm the potential clinical usefulness of automated movement analysis in muscle ultrasound
