    Entrepreneurship Through Start-ups in Hill Areas Using Photovoltaic Systems

    There is large potential for generating solar power in Uttarakhand (India) endowed with natural resources. The extensive use of solar energy through solar PV panels in Distributed and Renewable Electricity Generation is significant to utilize multi climatic zones of hilly areas. In this regard, UREDA (Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency) targets to achieve a huge boost of solar PV battery backup with approved subsidy budget of INR 6 billion to 50 billion by 2019/20 under JNNSM (Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission). This investment will increase productivity, enhance employment opportunities and improve quality of education. However, maximization of power output from panels used for same is achieved through use of MPPT (Maximum Power Point Trackers). The commercially installed solar power systems can be made to accomplish higher efficiency by implementing MPPT systems in start ups. In this paper, the effort is made to use MPPT system designed by intelligent controller for implementation in PV based utility systems. The regulated voltage output from MPPT system is obtained irrespective of fluctuations in environment. These variations are tested for changing temperature and irradiance due to shading or partial unavailability of sun. The results of same have been optimized through MATLAB/SIMULINK. The model designed is intended to be a beneficial source for PV engineers and researchers to provide high efficiency with the use of MPPT

    Highly Permeable Perfluorinated Sulfonic Acid Ionomers for Improved Electrochemical Devices: Insights into Structure-Property Relationships.

    Rapid improvements in polymer-electrolyte fuel-cell (PEFC) performance have been driven by the development of commercially available ion-conducting polymers (ionomers) that are employed as membranes and catalyst binders in membrane-electrode assemblies. Commercially available ionomers are based on a perfluorinated chemistry comprised of a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) matrix that imparts low gas permeability and high mechanical strength but introduces significant mass-transport losses in the electrodes. These transport losses currently limit PEFC performance, especially for low Pt loadings. In this study, we present a novel ionomer incorporating a glassy amorphous matrix based on a perfluoro(2-methylene-4-methyl-1,3-dioxolane) (PFMMD) backbone. The novel backbone chemistry induces structural changes in the ionomer, restricting ionomer domain swelling under hydration while disrupting matrix crystallinity. These structural changes slightly reduce proton conductivity while significantly improving gas permeability. The performance implications of this trade-off are assessed, which reveal the potential for substantial performance improvement by incorporation of highly permeable ionomers as the functional catalyst binder. These results underscore the significance of tailoring material chemistry to specific device requirements, where ionomer chemistry should be rationally designed to match the local transport requirements of the device architecture

    Semarang's Asthma cases have increasing in from 5040 to 5711 cases in 2013. Based on number of cases, which 177 cases on 2014 and 133 case on 2015, the Asthma prevalence of Puskesmas Mangkang is 1,5℅. Asthma is affected by the family asthma's occurrence and the air particulate pollution, such as PM10 and PM2.5. The air pollutant particulates are identified from House condition. This research aims to identify the correlation between environmental risk factors and asthma occurrences at Puskesmas Mangkang's working area. The research methodology used observational analytic with case control study design. The sample size are 37 respondents in each case and control groups. There are using univariate and bivariate analysis with Chi Square test. The average temperature is 31 degree Celsius, 65% air humidity, and PM10 concentration 585µg/m3. The result shows from 8 independent variables there are 2 variables those correlate to asthma case, those are indoor air humidity (p-value= 0,048; OR= 3,96; 95% CI= 1,140-13,756) and furry pets ownership (p-value=0,036; OR= 2,70; 95% CI= 1,056-6,941). Finally, Indoor air humidity and furry pets ownership are factors that correlate to asthma's occurrences in Puskesmas Mangkang's working area

    Fungal Endophytes to Combat Biotic and Abiotic Stresses for Climate-Smart and Sustainable Agriculture

    The agricultural sustainability concept considers higher food production combating biotic and abiotic stresses, socio-economic well-being, and environmental conservation. On the contrary, global warming-led climatic changes have appalling consequences on agriculture, generating shifting rainfall patterns, high temperature, CO2, drought, etc., prompting abiotic stress conditions for plants. Such stresses abandon the plants to thrive, demoting food productivity and ultimately hampering food security. Though environmental issues are natural and cannot be regulated, plants can still be enabled to endure these abnormal abiotic conditions, reinforcing the stress resilience in an eco-friendly fashion by incorporating fungal endophytes. Endophytic fungi are a group of subtle, non-pathogenic microorganisms establishing a mutualistic association with diverse plant species. Their varied association with the host plant under dynamic environments boosts the endogenic tolerance mechanism of the host plant against various stresses via overall modulations of local and systemic mechanisms accompanied by higher antioxidants secretion, ample enough to scavenge Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) hence, coping over-expression of defensive redox regulatory system of host plant as an aversion to stressed condition. They are also reported to ameliorate plants toward biotic stress mitigation and elevate phytohormone levels forging them worthy enough to be used as biocontrol agents and as biofertilizers against various pathogens, promoting crop improvement and soil improvement, respectively. This review summarizes the present-day conception of the endophytic fungi, their diversity in various crops, and the molecular mechanism behind abiotic and biotic resistance prompting climate-resilient aided sustainable agriculture.Peer reviewe

    ANKHD1 regulates cell cycle progression and proliferation in multiple myeloma cells

    ANKHD1 is a multiple ankyrin repeat containing protein, highly expressed in cancers, such as acute leukemia. the present study was undertaken to determine the expression and functional significance of ANKHD1 in human Multiple Myeloma (MM). We found that ANKHD1 is highly expressed in MM patient cells and cell lines. in vitro, lentiviral mediated ANKHD1-shRNA inhibited proliferation and delayed S to G2M cell cycle progression in glucocorticoid resistant (U266) and sensitive (MM1S) MM cells. Further ANKHD1 silencing resulted in upregulation of cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor p21 irrespective of the p53 status of the MM cell lines. These data suggest that ANKHD1 might have a role in MM cell proliferation and cell cycle progression by regulating expression of p21. (C) 2012 Federation of European Biochemical Societies.     Perfluorophenyl Derivatives as Unsymmetrical Linkers for Solid Phase Conjugation

    Linkers play major roles in conjugation chemistry toward the advancement of drug discovery. Two different series of fluorinated linkers were introduced to the backbone of a model peptide using solid phase peptide synthesis. These fluorinated linkers have the potential to conjugate two asymmetrical groups. This has not been done using other fluorinated linkers. This study deals with application of linkers with S, N, and O terminals and reports on the investigation of their chemoselectivity and activity for branching peptide backbones using a chosen model peptide. These fluorinated linkers have unique properties that will make it possible for a large diversity of bioconjugated chemicals for different bioapplications to be designed and synthesized
