In some species, female steroid hormones modify the profile of acute phase proteins (APPs) during the estrous cycle and pregnancy, according to the ovulation, embryonic implantation and placental development; however, nowadays there’s no experimental evidence for equine species. Objectives of this study were: to compare the serum amyloid A (SAA), haptoglobin (Hp) and C-reactive protein (CRP) concentrations between cyclic and pregnant mares, and to analyze the influence of estradiol-17β (E2) during estrous cycle or estrone sulfate (E1) during pregnancy, and progesterone (P4) on these proteins to assess their potential role to identify the cyclicity or pregnancy in Spanish mares. Blood samples were taken from 20 Purebred Spanish mares on the day of ovulation (day 0), on days +5 and +16 post-ovulation, and then, monthly during the whole pregnancy. SAA, Hp and CRP did not change between day 0, +5 and +16 post-ovulation days. P4 concentrations were significantly higher on day +16 than on days +5 and 0; and E2 concentrations were significantly higher on day 0 than day +5. On the other hand, pregnancy was characterized by a progressive increase in the Hp, variable modifications of E1 and P4 concentrations, without changes in SAA and CRP. The absence of significant differences in the APPs between days 0, +5 and +16, suggested that these proteins cannot be used as biomarkers of diagnosis of heat or pregnancy in Spanish mares, at least early, since the Hp later increases during the gestation. Nevertheless, it is possible to use them for comparative purposes with other equine breeds, as supervisor instrument of health status in breeding females as diagnostic tools to monitor pregnancy’s development and/or subclinical reproductive inflammations, that could lead to the early embryonic death.Veterinari

Statute of the body in times of puberty. Readings from a clinical material

The present work follows from the theoretical-clinical elaborations made from the research project of the School of Psychology of the National University of La Plata “Statutes of the body in the current forms of subjective presentation in pubescent and adolescents of the city of La Plata. Preliminary indagations”, directed by Lic. Florencia Almagro and co-directed by Lic. Andrea Elizabeth Mirc. The analysis that we will carry out is framed within the complexity of the clinic field with children and adolescents, field that surrounds within it the times of the constitution of the psychic topic and therefore, the dimension of sexuality. We start thinking that in the clinical approach to the problems that are found in the “limits of the analysable”, the dimension of the body rooted in different forms of psychic illness, raises questions for psychoanalysis that test their metapsychological statements, new complexities that open old problems linked to the foundational of psyche.Facultad de Psicologí

    Geometric phases along quantum trajectories

    Get PDF
A monitored quantum system undergoing a cyclic evolution of the parameters governing its Hamiltonian accumulates a geometric phase that depends on the quantum trajectory followed by the system on its evolution. The phase value will be determined both by the unitary dynamics and by the interaction of the system with the environment. Consequently, the geometric phase will acquire a stochastic character due to the occurrence of random quantum jumps. Here we study the distribution function of geometric phases in monitored quantum systems and discuss when/if different quantities, proposed to measure geometric phases in open quantum systems, are representative of the distribution. We also consider a monitored echo protocol and discuss in which cases the distribution of the interference pattern extracted in the experiment is linked to the geometric phase. Furthermore, we unveil, for the single trajectory exhibiting no quantum jumps, a topological transition in the phase acquired after a cycle and show how this critical behavior can be observed in an echo protocol. For the same parameters, the density matrix does not show any singularity. We illustrate all our main results by considering a paradigmatic case, a spin-1/2 immersed in time-varying a magnetic field in presence of an external environment. The major outcomes of our analysis are however quite general and do not depend, in their qualitative features, on the choice of the model studied.Comment: 20 pages, 15 figure

    Get PDF
The present work aims to delimit the singular status that the game collects in the clinical device with children and adolescents, trying to locate the scope and also the limitations that it entails, in solidarity with the analytical work in times of neogenesis of the psychic subject. Speaking of play in the psychoanalytic clinic with children and adolescents, far from being a trite question, challenges and calls on psychologists and psychoanalysts to reposition and rethink the theoretical foundations that guide their practice, since the way of theoretically conceiving these fundamentals, And therefore their interventions, give account of how the psychic subject and his suffering are thought. We focus on deepening these themes, on the singularity of an experience framed within a linking game workshop, which involves a concrete proposal of working together between children from 2 to 4 years and their parents, in a clinical device of a croup character. This workshop is carried out as part of the therapeutic proposal in a clinical care device that is developed in the EICE Foundation of La Plata, specifically in the CEDYT (Center for Diagnosis and Treatment).Eje temático: Psicología ClínicaFacultad de Psicologí

Synergy of light harvesting and energy transfer as well as short-range charge shift reactions in multicomponent conjugates

We report herein on the design, the synthesis, and the characterization of a panchromatic, charge stabilizing electron donor-acceptor conjugate: (BBPA)3-ZnPor-ZnPc-SubPc 1. Each component, that is, bis(biphenyl)phenylamine (BBPA), Zn(ii) porphyrin (ZnPor), Zn(ii) phthalocyanine ZnPc, and subphthalocyanine (SubPc), has been carefully chosen and modified to enable a cascade of energy and charge transfer processes. On one hand, ZnPor, has been functionalized with three electron-donating BBPA as primary and secondary electron donors and to stabilize the final charge-separated state, and, on the other hand, a perfluorinated SubPc has been selected as ultimate electron acceptor. In addition, the ZnPc unit contains several trifluoromethylphenyl moieties to match its energy levels to those of the other components. In fact, irradiation of the heteroarray 1 triggers a cascade of light harvesting across the entire visible range, unidirectional energy transfer, exergonic charge separating, and short-range charge shifting to afford in 14% quantum yield a (BBPA)3+-ZnPor-ZnPc-SubPc- charge-separated state. The lifetime of the latter reaches well into the range of tens of nanosecondsFinancial support from Comunidad de Madrid, Spain (S2013/MIT-2841, FOTOCARBON), and MINECO, Spain (CTQ2017-85393-P), and the “Solar Energy goes Hybrid” Initiative of the Bavarian Ministry for Science, Culture and Education (SolTech) is acknowledge

Identification, molecular and phylogenetic analysis of poxvirus in skin lesions of southern right whale

    Get PDF
Poxvirus skin disease has been reported in several species of cetaceans, principally in odontocetes, and a single report in mysticetes. Southern right whales Eubalaena australis in Peninsula Valdes, Argentina, show a variety of skin lesions of unknown etiology, and the number of these lesions has increased in recent years. Samples from dead whales were taken in order to establish the etiology of these lesions. One calf and one adult presented ring-type lesions, characterized by a circumscribed and slightly raised area of skin. Lesions were histologically characterized by the presence of microvesicles and vacuolated cells in the stratum spinosum, along with hyperplasia of the stratum corneum and eosinophilic inclusion bodies in the cytoplasm of the epithelial cells. Transmission electron microscopy showed aggregations of virions with typical poxvirus morphology. PCR of cetacean poxvirus (CPV) DNA polymerase, DNA topoisomerase I and parapoxvirus DNA polymerase gene fragments was done, and confirmed the presence of poxvirus in one sample. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the detected poxvirus belongs to the CPV-2 group. This is the first confirmed report of poxvirus in southern right whales in Argentina.Fil: Fiorito, Carla Daniela. Body, social modes and adolescent psychic work

    Get PDF
The present work aims to systematize the conceptual notions developed within the framework of the Research Project called "Statutes of the body in the current forms of subjective presentation in pubescents and adolescents of the city of La Plata. Preliminary inquiries" directed by Professors Almagro, Florencia and Mirc, Andrea, in which we point out some significant contributions that emerge from the construction of the theoretical framework investigated so far. In this sense, we start from the premise that orders every possible inquiry in the field of the clinic with adolescents, the one that maintains that the time of adolescence is the time where the body recovers a protagonism similar to that of early childhood, assuming particular garments. Time of resignifications in the field of the identifying and relational, which will take the nuances of the prevailing discourses of each era. The reference to the epocal, forcesus to use the contributions not only offered by Psychoanalysis but also by references to other semantic and discursive fields such as Philosophy, Sociology and Cultural Anthropology, by the hand of contemporary authors such as Le Bretón, D., Chul Han, B., Bauman Z., among others. The adolescent body with its marks and transformations, will be the privileged scenario in which the effects of the epochal marks can be read in a clinical key, this in function of rethinking the analytical interventions in their uniqueness. As Duschatzky, S. and Coria, C. (2008) propose, "The forms of production of subjectivity are neither timeless nor universal, but are part ofs pecific social and cultural conditions". What are the new conditions in which today's adolescents build their subjectivity, in a world furrowed by new technologies, social networks and the primacy of the image as a form of privileged social bond? What particular place does the body occupy in our time? These will be some of the axes that are developed in a general way in this work to share our production with the academic community.Facultad de Psicologí
