In the title salt, [Sn(CH3)2Cl(CH4N3S)]Cl, the SnIV atom is five-coordinated in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry with two methyl groups and one S atom in the equatorial plane, and one N atom and one Cl atom occupying the apical positions. In the crystal, molecules are linked by intermolecular N—H⋯S hydrogen bonds with set graph-motif C(4) along [010]. N—H⋯ Cl hydrogen bonds with graph-set motif D(2) and D 3 3(10) link cations and anions

Synthesis, crystal structure and cytotoxicity assays of a copper(II) nitrate complex with a tridentate ONO acylhydrazone ligand. Spectroscopic and theoretical studies of the complex and its ligand

    Get PDF
The new copper complex, [Cu(HL)(OH2)2](NO3), including the tridentate N-acyhydrazone derived from 4-hydroxy-benzohydrazide and 2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde, (H2L), has been synthesized and characterized in the solid state and in solution by spectroscopic (FTIR, Ra, UV–vis, EPR) methods. The results were compared with those obtained for the hydrazone ligand and complemented with computational methods based on DFT. The crystal structure of the complex has been determined by X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in the triclinic space group with Z = 2. The Cu(II) ion is in a distorted square pyramidal environment, coordinated to a planar HL- anion acting as a tridentate ligand. The 5-fold coordination is completed with two water molecules. It is arranged in the lattice as H-bonded ribbon-like polymers that extends along the [1 2 1] crystal direction. The cytotoxicity of the complex together with that of the H2L ligand and the copper ion were evaluated in vitro against five different human cancer cell lines namely A549 (lung), MG-63 (bone), MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 (breast) and Jurkat (leukemia). The copper complex inhibits the cell viability in a dose dependent manner with a greater potency than the H2L ligand and the free copper ion displaying even higher antitumor activity than the well-known anticancer metallodrug cisplatin.CONICET (PIP 11220130100651CO and PIP 0034), UNLP (111/X673) and ANPCyT (PICT 2014-2223) of Argentina. This study aimed to identify the functional and surgical implications for adult patients with fractures, characterizing the demographic profile of the study sample, to assess the functional independence of victims of fractures and discuss the implications related to surgical procedures involved in treating these patients. The survey was conducted between November 2006 and April 2007 with 74 patients admitted to a hospital in Sao Paulo. Male subjects were predominant (91.9%), mean age 31.8 years, whites (51.3%), victims of accidents (51.4%). Fractures of lower limbs accounted for 73.0% of cases and upper limbs 13.5%. The accidents were responsible for 58.1% of admissions. Regarding Functional Independence Measure (FIM), there was an increase in mean values of FIM during the evaluation. Moreover, there is a decrease of these values in cases of accidents and pedestrian accidents and in those whose limbs are affected

Contamination level and spatial distribution of heavy metals in water and sediments of El GuĂĄjaro Reservoir, Colombia

    Get PDF
Heavy metals have become a subject of special concern worldwide, mainly due to high persistence in the environment, toxicity, biogeochemical recycling and ecological risk. Therefore, the objective of this investigation was to analyze the spatial–temporal distribution of heavy metals in water and sediments to determine the environmental status of El Guájaro Reservoir, where such studies have not been developed. Two measurement campaigns (dry and wet period) were carried out and eight sampling stations were selected. A comparison of water and sediment quality parameters with existing national and international regulations was done. Also, heavy metal distribution maps were generated, and the geoaccumulation index was calculated to identify sources and sediments contamination level. Based on the obtained results, agriculture and mining activities are the main causes of the reservoir contamination. This metals levels could be a potential risk for the aquatic life and the populations that are supplied from this water body

Allozyme differentiation of two populations of the genus Neoplecostomus Eigenmann & Eigenmann, 1888 (Teleostei, Loricariidae) from the upper ParanĂĄ River basin, Brazil

Allozyme electrophoresis was used to examine 12 enzymatic systems in two populations of the genus Neoplecostomus from the ParanĂĄ River basin. Samples of Neoplecostomus sp. 1 were collected in Paraitinguinha stream of the TietĂȘ River basin, in the municipality of SalesĂłpolis, SĂŁo Paulo State, and those of Neoplecostomus sp. 2 from SĂŁo Domingos stream of the Rio Grande River basin, in the municipality of Muzambinho, Minas Gerais State. The genetic variability of the two populations was estimated by Nei’s expected heterozygosity and was considered lower than average for populations of freshwater fish. The proportion of polymorphic loci was low (only 5.26% for the locus Idh). The low frequency of heterozygosity for both populations revealed a high fixation of alleles for each locus. Homozygote excess was observed in both populations. The values of Nei’s genetic identity and the presence of loci with different allele frequencies in both populations may imply that the two populations belong to different species. The genetic variability between populations was compared to other data for loricariids
