    Hermitian Maass lift for General Level

    For an imaginary quadratic field KK of discriminant D-D, let χ=χK\chi = \chi_K be the associated quadratic character. We will show that the space of special hermitian Jacobi forms of level NN is isomorphic to the space of plus forms of level DNDN and nebentypus χ\chi (the hermitian analogue of Kohnen's plus space) for any integer NN prime to DD. This generalizes the results of Krieg from N=1N = 1 to arbitrary level. Combining this isomorphism with the recent work of Berger and Klosin and a modification of Ikeda's construction we prove the existence of a lift from the space of elliptic modular forms to the space of hermitian modular forms of level NN which can be viewed as a generalization of the classical hermitian \Maass lift to arbitrary level

    Using a novel source-localized phase regressor technique for evaluation of the vascular contribution to semantic category area localization in BOLD fMRI.

    Numerous studies have shown that gradient-echo blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) fMRI is biased toward large draining veins. However, the impact of this large vein bias on the localization and characterization of semantic category areas has not been examined. Here we address this issue by comparing standard magnitude measures of BOLD activity in the Fusiform Face Area (FFA) and Parahippocampal Place Area (PPA) to those obtained using a novel method that suppresses the contribution of large draining veins: source-localized phase regressor (sPR). Unlike previous suppression methods that utilize the phase component of the BOLD signal, sPR yields robust and unbiased suppression of large draining veins even in voxels with no task-related phase changes. This is confirmed in ideal simulated data as well as in FFA/PPA localization data from four subjects. It was found that approximately 38% of right PPA, 14% of left PPA, 16% of right FFA, and 6% of left FFA voxels predominantly reflect signal from large draining veins. Surprisingly, with the contributions from large veins suppressed, semantic category representation in PPA actually tends to be lateralized to the left rather than the right hemisphere. Furthermore, semantic category areas larger in volume and higher in fSNR were found to have more contributions from large veins. These results suggest that previous studies using gradient-echo BOLD fMRI were biased toward semantic category areas that receive relatively greater contributions from large veins

    Sodium Benzoate and Potassium Sorbate in Processed Meat Products Collected in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

    Sodium benzoate and potassium sorbates are the two typical preservatives widely used in Vietnam and other countries. The maximum level (ML) of sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate in processed meat products imposed by Ministry of Public Health is 1000 ppm. Although there are warnings about overusing of these preservatives that related to human health, many manufacturers do not follow the regulations. The aim of this study was to survey and consider the amounts and presence of these preservatives in processed meat products by using High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method. 90 samples of brands and no brands including Vietnamese pork rolls, pâtés, hams, sausages, and fermented pork rolls that available at markets in Ho Chi Minh City were analysed for these two preservatives. There was a preference for using sodium benzoate in all samples. Moreover, Vietnamese pork roll samples had the highest percentage of samples with preservatives concentrations exceeding the ML. Among 90 samples, sodium benzoate was detected in 52.2% of samples and 17.8% of them exceeded the ML, while potassium sorbate was found in 24.4% of samples and only 2.2% of them exceeded the regulated amount. 46.4% of Vietnamese pork rolls, 12.5% of pâtés, and 9.1% of fermented pork rolls had sodium benzoate exceeded the ML, whilst ham and sausage samples contained the concentrations inside the safety limits. Furthermore, only one sample of Vietnamese pork rolls and one sample of sausages had potassium sorbate concentrations surpassing the ML with the level of 1,717.57 mg/kg and 1,814.00 mg/kg, respectively. Furthermore, branded samples showed a significantly different result in compared with no branded samples. Of branded samples, exceeding sodium benzoate level ML was detected in 10% of samples and none of the samples found surpassing potassium sorbate limit amount. Nevertheless, 27.5% and 5% of unbranded samples had sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate higher than the authorized amounts, respectively. New strategies should be established to monitor the food safety issues

    Concrete beams using seawater and sea sand reinforced with steel and GFRP rebars exposed to marine environment: An experimental study

    Using fresh water and river sand in concrete mix composition makes a lot of negative impacts on resources and the environment while the source of sea sand and sea water is abundant and less harmful to the environment. However, sea sand and seawater in concrete can cause severe corrosion of the reinforcement, reducing the durability and bearing capacity of the structure. This paper illustrates the results of a comparative study on the flexural behavior of six corroded seawater sea-sand concrete (SWSSC) beams. The corrosion process of two concrete beams reinforced with traditional steel bars and four concrete beams reinforced with a combination of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) and steel bars was coupled by the effect of seawater exposure and sustained load. It was found that after exposure to a marine environment during the period of 60 months the GFRP bar retains surface integrity, meanwhile, the steel bars were significantly corroded with a cross-sectional area loss of approximately 13.93%. The decrease in bending stiffness, yield load, and ultimate load of the RC beams was found due to the deterioration of SWSSC and corrosion of steel bars.

    Insights into How Vietnamese Retailers Utilize Social Media to Facilitate Knowledge Creation through the Process of Value Co-Creation

    Social media usage is a direct result of Internet connectivity and is gaining increased prominence in business-to-consumer (B2C), business-to-business (B2B), and consumer-to-business (C2B) relationship building, which is allowing marketers to devise and implement digital marketing strategies that are perceived as enhancing a customer’s well-being. Through the process of utilizing social media (SM) to share information with consumers, marketers are affording themselves with the concept of value co-creation and ensuring that the development of knowledge is given priority. To explain how this happens in an emerging economy, in-depth personal interviews were undertaken with the owners of five retail fashion companies in Vietnam. The findings indicate that fashion retail companies in Vietnam are deploying digital marketing strategies that deliver perceived enhanced value to consumers through the process of value co-creation. This highlights the advantage of using SM in relation to increasing retail staff’s ability to convert information into usable resources such as intelligence and knowledge. By achieving knowledge conversion, retail staff fulfill the role of ‘knowledge broker’ and ‘knowledge connector’, and identify how organizational intervention, such as new operating structures, can help to deliver perceived enhanced value to customers
