Synthesis of geomorphological processes in the «Galaico-Astur» Bounds

[Resumen] En este trabajo se analizan los distintos procesos geomorfológicos que han intervenido en el modelado de formas en el sector Galaico-Astur. Actualmente, los procesos de índole dinámica (fluviales, marinos, etc.) y los edafogenéticos son los que muestran una mayor incidencia aunque condicionados por la influencia de factores estructurales y de orden climático; buena parte de su eficacia está favorecida, igualmente, por las acciones antrópicas. En lo que respecta a los procesos antiguos, éstos vuelven a revestir su mayor importancia dentro de la tipología dinámica; no obstante, ellos presentan una originalidad más contrastada al haber actuado bajo condiciones climáticas más rigurosas y extremas, y con niveles de base marinos muy diferentes.[Abstract] In this synthesis we analyse the several geomorphological processes that have contributed to model the landforms in the «Galaico-Astur» area. At present, the dynamic nature processes (fluvial, marine, etc.) show a greater incidence though they are conditioned by the inf1uén:~ of climatic and structural factors; most of their efficacy results also increased by antrhopactions. As regards the ancient processes, those of dynamic type are again the more important ones. Furthermore, they appear more stressed because their action was performed on different sea-marine levels and their effects were reinforced by extreme and severe climatic conditions

Estudio geomorfológico de las terrazas fluviales cuaternarias del Valle del Tajo (sector Aranjuez-Toledo)

[Resumen] En esta comunicación se analiza la morfología de los distintos niveles de terraza que pertenecientes al sistema fluvial Tajo-Jarama existen en el tramo comprendido entre Aranjuez y Toledo; igualmente se estudian las características sedimentológicas de los aluviones asociados a estas terrazas, así como otras formaciones detríticas de diferentes épocas geológicas que se advierten en esta zona de la Submeseta Sur. De esta manera se continuan las observaciones realizadas por nosotros hace unos años en las terrazas del Tajo, aguas arriba de Aranjuez y hasta las inmediaciones del embalse de Almoguera, en la provincia de Guadalajara (GONZALEZ MARTIN y ASENSIO AMOR, 1979), así como las investigaciones dedicadas a las deformaciones pseudo-tectónicas que en ocasiones afectan a los conjuntos sedimentarios fluviales (GONZALEZ MARTIN y ASENSIO AMOR, 1980)[Resumé] On étude dans ce travail les caracteres géomorphologiques des différents niveaux de terrasses dans la vallée du Tajo-Jarama (Aranjuez-Toledo). En meme temps, on analyse les caractéristiques sédimentologiques des materiaux associés aux ces formes morphologiques et des autres formations détritiques des ages tertiaires et quaternaires. De cette façon nous poursuivons les observations faites, il y a quelque temps, pour nous meme. D'un cote, le systeme de terrasses dans l'amont de Aranjuez et jusqu'a les environs de Almoguera (GONZALEZ MARTIN y ASENSIO AMOR, 1979). De l'autre, les recherches consacrées aux déformations pseudo-tectoniques visibles quelques fois dans ces ensambles sédimentaires quaternaires (GONZALEZ MARTIN y ASENSIO AMOR, 1980)

Probabilistic Guarded P Systems, A New Formal Modelling Framework

Multienvironment P systems constitute a general, formal framework for modelling the dynamics of population biology, which consists of two main approaches: stochastic and probabilistic. The framework has been successfully used to model biologic systems at both micro (e.g. bacteria colony) and macro (e.g. real ecosystems) levels, respectively. In this paper, we extend the general framework in order to include a new case study related to P. Oleracea species. The extension is made by a new variant within the probabilistic approach, called Probabilistic Guarded P systems (in short, PGP systems). Dimensionality and Psychometric Properties of the Spanish version of the Mechanisms of Moral Disengagement Scale (MMDS-S)

Abstract: This study examines the dimensions and psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the Mechanisms of Moral Disengagement Scale (MMDS). The MMDS was designed to evaluate the moral disengagement construct. A sample of 513 students was assessed (58.3% females; 15 to 25 years-of-age). Confirmatory factor analysis showed four models with an adequate fit, both for a first-order factorial structure (Model 1) and a second-order factorial structure (Models 2, 3 and 4). Model 4 achieved the best fit indices [χ2 = 19.35; RMSEA = .016; GFI = .99; AGFI = .98; ECVI = .11; CAIC = 156.92], a model represented by a general second-order factor (moral disengagement) with three fi rst-order dimensions: disengagement by depersonalization; disengagement by irresponsibility; and disengagement by rationalization. Moreover, significant relations between moral disengagement, aggression, and empathy were found. This scale appears a reliable and valid instrument to evaluate the moral disengagement in adolescents and young adults.Resumen: Dimensiones y propiedades psicométricas de la versión española de la Escala de Mecanismos de Desconexión Moral (MMDS). Este trabajo analiza las dimensiones y propiedades psicométricas de la versión española de la Escala de Mecanismos de Desconexión Moral (MMDS). Este instrumento fue diseñado para evaluar el constructo desconexión moral. Se evaluaron 513 estudiantes (58.3% mujeres; rango de 15-25 años). El análisis factorial confirmatorio mostró cuatro modelos con un adecuado ajuste y una estructura factorial de primer orden (Modelo 1), y una estructura de segundo orden (Modelos 2, 3 y 4). El Modelo 4 ofreció el mejor ajuste [χ2 = 19.35; RMSEA = .016; GFI = .99; AGFI = .98; ECVI = .11; CAIC = 156.92], representado por un factor general de segundo orden (desconexión moral) y tres de primer orden: desconexión por despersonalización; desconexión por irresponsabilidad; y desconexión por racionalización. Se encontraron relaciones significativas entre la desconexión moral, la agresión y la empatía. El instrumento es válido y fiable para evaluar la desconexión moral en adolescentes y adultos jóvenes

Efectos moduladores de la personalidad y la valoración subjetiva en la respuesta autonómica ante una tarea de hablar en público

El objetivo de este estudio fue examinar en una muestra de 16 mujeres, el efecto los de rasgos de personalidad y la valoración subjetiva ante un estresor social de laboratorio (hablar en público) en la respuesta cardiovascular y electrodérmica. Se midieron las respuestas de conductancia de la piel, la frecuencia cardiaca (FC) y el volumen del pulso periférico (VPP) durante un periodo de descanso, preparación, tarea y recuperación ante un discurso académico. Los sujetos fueron clasificados según sus puntuaciones altas o bajas en el cuestionario de personalidad EPQ, el STAI y en las medidas subjetivas. Los sujetos mostraron un aumento de la activación fisiológica significativo durante las fases de preparación y ejecución del discurso, esta activación estuvo modulada por las variables de personalidad y la valoración subjetiva. Los sujetos más extrovertidos mostraron mayor frecuencia de respuestas electrodérmicas (RED) a lo largo de todo el registro. Los sujetos que percibieron la tarea como más difícil mostraron los valores más altos en frecuencia cardiaca. Por último, aquéllos que percibieron un mayor estrés y esfuerzo mostraron un porcentaje de cambio mayor en volumen de pulso. Estos resultados apoyan el uso de la tarea de hablar en público como un buen estresor de laboratorio y la importancia de la experiencia subjetiva y los rasgos de personalidad del individuo como variables que modulan dicha respuesta

A membrane parallel rapidly-exploring random tree algorithm for robotic motion planning

In recent years, incremental sampling-based motion planning algorithms have been widely used to solve robot motion planning problems in high-dimensional configuration spaces. In particular, the Rapidly-exploring Random Tree (RRT) algorithm and its asymptotically-optimal counterpart called RRT∗ are popular algorithms used in real-life applications due to its desirable properties. Such algorithms are inherently iterative, but certain modules such as the collision-checking procedure can be parallelized providing significant speedup with respect to sequential implementations. In this paper, the RRT and RRT∗ algorithms have been adapted to a bioinspired computational framework called Membrane Computing whose models of computation, a.k.a. P systems, run in a non-deterministic and massively parallel way. A large number of robotic applications are currently using a variant of P systems called Enzymatic Numerical P systems (ENPS) for reactive controlling, but there is a lack of solutions for motion planning in the framework. The novel models in this work have been designed using the ENPS framework. In order to test and validate the ENPS models for RRT and RRT*, we present two ad-hoc implementations able to emulate the computation of the models using OpenMP and CUDA. Finally, we show the speedup of our solutions with respect to sequential baseline implementations. The results show a speedup up to 6x using OpenMP with 8 cores against the sequential implementation and up to 24x using CUDA against the best multi-threading configuration

Holder continuity of absolutely continuous spectral measures for one-frequency Schrodinger operators

We establish sharp results on the modulus of continuity of the distribution of the spectral measure for one-frequency Schrodinger operators with Diophantine frequencies in the region of absolutely continuous spectrum. More precisely, we establish 1/2-Holder continuity near almost reducible energies (an essential support of absolutely continuous spectrum). For non-perturbatively small potentials (and for the almost Mathieu operator with subcritical coupling), our results apply for all energies.Comment: 16 page

Attitudes of sperm, egg and embryo donors and recipients towards genetic information and screening of donors

© 2018 The Author(s). Background: Gamete and embryo donors undergo genetic screening procedures in order to maximise the health of donor-conceived offspring. In the era of genomic medicine, expanded genetic screening may be offered to donors for the purpose of avoiding transmission of harmful genetic mutations. The objective of this study was to explore the attitudes of donors and recipients toward the expanded genetic screening of donors. Methods: Qualitative interview study with thematic analysis, undertaken in a tertiary fertility centre. Semi-structured in-depth qualitative interviews were conducted with eleven recipients and nine donors from three different cohorts (sperm, egg and embryo donors/recipients). Results: Donors and recipients acknowledged the importance of genetic information and were comfortable with the existing level of genetic screening of donors. Recipients recognised some potential benefits of expanded genetic screening of donors; however both recipients and donors were apprehensive about extended genomic technologies, with concerns about how this information would be used and the ethics of genetic selectivity. Conclusion: Participants in donor programs support some level of genetic screening of donors, but are wary of expanding genetic screening beyond current levels
