    On a nonlinear subdivision scheme avoiding Gibbs oscillations and converging towards CsC^{s} functions with s>1s>1

    International audienceThis paper presents a new nonlinear dyadic subdivision scheme eliminating the Gibbs oscillations close to discontinuities. Its convergence , stability and order of approximation are analyzed. It is proved that this scheme converges towards limit functions Hölder continuous with exponent larger than 1.299. Numerical estimates provide a Hölder exponent of 2.438. This subdivision scheme is the first one that simultaneously achieves the control of the Gibbs phenomenon and has limit functions with Hölder exponent larger than 1

    , the purpose of this research is want to know is there the effect of Barbell Pullover exercise toward strenght of arm and shoulder musclus of smpn 6 pekanbaru man vollyball club, so when do under servise, the ball can pass over the net. Type of this research is experimental, the population in this research was the students of smpn 6 pekanbaru man vollyball club who actively doing exercise, the total was 10 students. Sampling technique used as sample ( sugiyono 2008 : 124 ). Total sample of this research is 10 students of smpn 6 pekanbaru man vollyball club. Data tecnique used was surfaited sampling, it is determination of the sample when all members are the population are used as sample. The instruments was used in this research was expanding dynamometer, which is aimed to measure the strength og arm and shoulder muscles. After that, the data was analysis by using statistic to examine the normality with liliefors test on the significant level 0,05a. The subritted hypothesis was there is the effect of Barbell Pullover exercise toward strength of arm and shoulder muscles. Based on the data analysis t test showed T count was 21,95 and T table was 1,812, it means that T count > T table. Based on the statistic data analysis, the average of preetest was 12,1 and the average of posttest 15,7 was it. Shows that the data was normal. In conclution , there was the effect of Barbell Pullover exercise toward strength of arm and shoulder of smpn 6 pekanbaru man vollyball club

Moreover, the dynamical behavior of this family of iterative methods applied to quadratic polynomials is studied.     CMMSE2017: On two classes of fourth- and seventh-order vectorial methods with stable behavior

    [EN] A family of fourth-order iterative methods without memory, for solving nonlinear systems, and its seventh-order extension, are analyzed. By using complex dynamics tools, their stability and reliability are studied by means of the properties of the rational function obtained when they are applied on quadratic polynomials. The stability of their fixed points, in terms of the value of the parameter, its critical points and their associated parameter planes, etc. give us important information about which members of the family have good properties of stability and whether in any of them appear chaos in the iterative process.     Enabling Hyper-Personalisation: Automated Ad Creative Generation and Ranking for Fashion e-Commerce

    Homepage is the first touch point in the customer's journey and is one of the prominent channels of revenue for many e-commerce companies. A user's attention is mostly captured by homepage banner images (also called Ads/Creatives). The set of banners shown and their design, influence the customer's interest and plays a key role in optimizing the click through rates of the banners. Presently, massive and repetitive effort is put in, to manually create aesthetically pleasing banner images. Due to the large amount of time and effort involved in this process, only a small set of banners are made live at any point. This reduces the number of banners created as well as the degree of personalization that can be achieved. This paper thus presents a method to generate creatives automatically on a large scale in a short duration. The availability of diverse banners generated helps in improving personalization as they can cater to the taste of larger audience. The focus of our paper is on generating wide variety of homepage banners that can be made as an input for user level personalization engine. Following are the main contributions of this paper: 1) We introduce and explain the need for large scale banner generation for e-commerce 2) We present on how we utilize existing deep learning based detectors which can automatically annotate the required objects/tags from the image. 3) We also propose a Genetic Algorithm based method to generate an optimal banner layout for the given image content, input components and other design constraints. 4) Further, to aid the process of picking the right set of banners, we designed a ranking method and evaluated multiple models.     Validation of Multicultural Counselling Competencies Scale among Malaysian Counsellor Trainees: A Confirmatory Factor Analysis

    The competency of multicultural counselling is an aspect which needs to be mastered by a counsellor in order to provide good counselling services to clients especially when dealing with clients of different culture. The purpose of this research is to examine the validity and reliability of the Multicultural Counselling Competencies Scale which was developed based on the local culture by using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). A total of 290 final year students participating in the first-degree counselling program from six public universities were selected randomly. The results of the analysis showed that the fit value for the comparative fit index (CFI), Tucker Lewis index (TLI), and normed fit index (NFI) respectively had fulfilled the fit value of 0.90 and above as suggested by the literature. The analysis also showed the average variance extracted (AVE) values for all three constructs were 0.669 (awareness), 0.764 (skills) and 0.642 (knowledge) respectively, indicating the validity convergent and discriminant reliability were achieved. CFA analysis has removed 7 out of 26 original items due to low loading factor. Overall, CFA analysis has successfully proven that competencies of multicultural counselling questionnaire as a multidimensional construct as it has been theorized and is appropriate for measuring the competencies of multicultural counselling in Malaysia

    Behavioural thermoregulation in cold-water freshwater fish: Innate resilience to climate warming?

    Behavioural thermoregulation enables ectotherms to access habitats providing condi-tions within their temperature optima, especially in periods of extreme thermal condi-tions, through adjustments to their behaviours that provide a “whole- body” response to temperature changes. Although freshwater fish have been detected as moving in response to temperature changes to access habitats that provide their thermal optima, there is a lack of integrative studies synthesising the extent to which this is driven by behaviour across different species and spatial scales. A quantitative global synthesis of behavioural thermoregulation in freshwater fish revealed that across 77 studies, behavioural thermoregulatory movements by fish were detected both vertically and horizontally, and from warm to cool waters and, occasionally, the converse. When fish moved from warm to cooler habitats, the extent of the temperature difference between these habitats decreased with increasing latitude, with juvenile and non- migratory fishes tolerating greater temperature differences than adult and anadro-mous individuals. With most studies focused on assessing movements of cold-water salmonids during summer periods, there remains an outstanding need for work on cli-matically vulnerable, non-salmonid fishes to understand how these innate thermoreg-ulatory behaviours could facilitate population persistence in warming conditions
