ABSTRACT This article intends to make a state of the art news studies in the world. Ten classical and current works were presented in a dissertation recently defended in the Graduate Program in Contemporary Communication and Culture (UFBA). We discussed the existing conceptualizations and classifications on newsworthiness, having as corpus the journalism produced for television. It is noted that there is a small number of searches whereas the rankings often repeat themselves. In this way, it is proposed at the end as a form of contribution, a systematization with the construction of a table that indicates the 10 authors and news-values most used in a certain period of time.   KEYWORDS: Newsworthiness; news-values; newsworthiness; news; event.     RESUMEN Este artículo pretende hacer un estado del arte de los estudios de noticiabilidad en el mundo. This paper reports a green and efficient procedure for extraction of the dyes Malachite Green (MG), Methylene Blue (MB), and Reactive Red 195 (RR) using an aqueous two-phase system (ATPS). An ATPS consists mainly of water, together with polymer and salt, and does not employ any organic solvent. The extraction efficiency was evaluated by means of the partition coefficients (K) and residual percentages (% R) of the dyes, under different experimental conditions, varying the tie-line length (TLL) of the system, the pH, the type of ATPS-forming electrolyte, and the type of ATPS-forming polymer. For MG, the best removal (K ? 4.10 104, %R ? 0.0069%) was obtained with the ATPS: PEO 1500 ? Na2C4H4O6 (TLL ? 50.21% (w/w), pH ? 6.00). For MB, the maximum extraction (K ? 559.9, %R ? 0.258%) was achieved with the ATPS: PEO 400 ? Na2SO4 (TLL ? 50.31% (w/w), pH ? 1.00). Finally for RR, the method that presented the best results (K ? 3.75 104, %R ? 0.237%) was the ATPS: PEO 400 ? Na2SO4 (TLL ? 50.31% (w/w), pH ? 6.00). The method was applied to the recovery of these dyes from a textile effluent sample, resulting in values of K of 1.17 104, 724.1, and 3.98 104 for MG, MB, and RR, respectively, while the corresponding %R values were 0.0038, 0.154, and 0.023%, respectively. In addition, the ATPS methodology provided a high degree of color removal (96.5e97.95%) from the textile effluent

Every pregnant woman has the right to care during childbirth and postpartum, and that this is performed in a humane and safe way. To ensure autonomy, it is necessary to put the woman in control of labor and birth, providing the necessary knowledge that allows her to make decisions about her own body. The study aimed to know the autonomy and knowledge of primiparous women in choosing the type of delivery. This is a qualitative field research. The participants were primiparous women, who agreed to participate in the research by signing the Informed Consent Form. The interviews were conducted after approval by the Research Ethics Committee under protocol n. CPEA 31364620.8.0000.5428, opinion n. 4,300,350. In view of the results, the following themes emerged: Reception and neglected bond between health units and pregnant women, revealed by reports of negative and frustrated experiences in the parturition process. Factors that prevent the autonomy of the choice of delivery in pregnant women and negative experiences and frustrated expectations regarding the moment of delivery, in which the reports indicated a lack of explanation of the procedures, lack of communication and prejudiced decision of the physician in relation to the delivery. It was concluded that the study showed the need for actions aimed at women’s health in the pregnancy-puerperal period, which enable conditions for female empowerment in decision-making about the body itself

Rationale, study design, and analysis plan of the Alveolar Recruitment for ARDS Trial (ART): Study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

Background: Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is associated with high in-hospital mortality. Alveolar recruitment followed by ventilation at optimal titrated PEEP may reduce ventilator-induced lung injury and improve oxygenation in patients with ARDS, but the effects on mortality and other clinical outcomes remain unknown. This article reports the rationale, study design, and analysis plan of the Alveolar Recruitment for ARDS Trial (ART). Methods/Design: ART is a pragmatic, multicenter, randomized (concealed), controlled trial, which aims to determine if maximum stepwise alveolar recruitment associated with PEEP titration is able to increase 28-day survival in patients with ARDS compared to conventional treatment (ARDSNet strategy). We will enroll adult patients with ARDS of less than 72 h duration. The intervention group will receive an alveolar recruitment maneuver, with stepwise increases of PEEP achieving 45 cmH(2)O and peak pressure of 60 cmH2O, followed by ventilation with optimal PEEP titrated according to the static compliance of the respiratory system. In the control group, mechanical ventilation will follow a conventional protocol (ARDSNet). In both groups, we will use controlled volume mode with low tidal volumes (4 to 6 mL/kg of predicted body weight) and targeting plateau pressure <= 30 cmH2O. The primary outcome is 28-day survival, and the secondary outcomes are: length of ICU stay; length of hospital stay; pneumothorax requiring chest tube during first 7 days; barotrauma during first 7 days; mechanical ventilation-free days from days 1 to 28; ICU, in-hospital, and 6-month survival. ART is an event-guided trial planned to last until 520 events (deaths within 28 days) are observed. These events allow detection of a hazard ratio of 0.75, with 90% power and two-tailed type I error of 5%. All analysis will follow the intention-to-treat principle. Discussion: If the ART strategy with maximum recruitment and PEEP titration improves 28-day survival, this will represent a notable advance to the care of ARDS patients. Conversely, if the ART strategy is similar or inferior to the current evidence-based strategy (ARDSNet), this should also change current practice as many institutions routinely employ recruitment maneuvers and set PEEP levels according to some titration method.Hospital do Coracao (HCor) as part of the Program 'Hospitais de Excelencia a Servico do SUS (PROADI-SUS)'Brazilian Ministry of Healt

This article is the beginning of a research about criteria of newsworthiness. This is an exploratory survey of event analysis built through a regional informative website and a Brazilian quality paper during a week. The main aim is to analyze the news values, based on Franciscato’s proposal (2014) written in 2002 as a part of his thesis. At first, we make a state of the art studies in Brazil. Then, we show an analysis with the quality paper and the regional informative website. At the end, we present a major consideration: there are combinations between the intrinsic or news values, which are more frequent: proximity to importance, distance to rupture and importance with continuity. Service and influence of social institutions, which are, generally, disregarded factors, should also enter the analysis of newsworthiness.
