Asymptotic Solutions of a Generalized Starobinski Model: Kinetic Dominance, Slow Roll and Separatrices

    Get PDF
We consider a generalized Starobinski inflationary model. We present a method for computing solutions as generalized asymptotic expansions, both in the kinetic dominance stage (psi series solutions) and in the slow roll stage (asymptotic expansions of the separatrix solutions). These asymptotic expansions are derived in the framework of the Hamilton-Jacobi formalism where the Hubble parameter is written as a function of the inflaton field. They are applied to determine the values of the inflaton field when the inflation period starts and ends as well as to estimate the corresponding amount of inflation. As a consequence, they can be used to select the appropriate initial conditions for determining a solution with a previously fixed amount of inflation. This research was funded by the Spanish Ministerio de Economia y Competitividad grant number PGC2018-094898-B-I00

Gender and functional CYP2C and NAT2 polymorphisms determine the metabolic profile of metamizole

Metamizole is a pain-killer drug that has been banned in some countries because of its toxicity, but it is still used in many countries due to its effective analgesic and antispasmodic properties. Although large variability in the biodisposition and adverse effects of metamizole are known, factors underlying this variability are poorly understood. We analyzed the urinary recovery of metabolites, as well as the association of these profiles with genetic and non-genetic factors, in a group of 362 healthy individuals. Gender and functional polymorphisms are strongly related to metabolic profiles. N-demethylation of the active metabolite MAA is diminished in carriers of the CYP2C19*2 allele and in NAT2-slow acetylators. Acetylation of the secondary metabolite AA is decreased in men, in drinkers and in NAT2-slow acetylators with a differential effect of NAT2*5 and NAT2*6 alleles. The formylation of MAA is diminished in older subjects and in carriers of defect CYP2C9 and CYP2C19 alleles. Two novel arachidonoyl metabolites were identified for the first time in humans. Women and NAT2-slow acetylators show higher concentrations, whereas the presence of the rapid CYP2C19*17 allele is associated with lower concentrations of these metabolites. All genetic associations show a gene-dose effect. We identified for the first time genetic and non-genetic factors related to the oxidative metabolism of analgesic drug metamizole, as well as new active metabolites in humans. The phenotypic and genetic factors identified in this study have a potential application as biomarkers of metamizole biotransformation and toxicity. We are grateful to Prof. James McCue for assistance in language editing. Analysis of self-perceived digital competences in future educators: A study at the university of Granada

    Get PDF
Digital competence is a key aspect to be taken into account in training at all stages. It is especially necessary to emphasize higher education stages and specifically on initial teacher training, as future teachers have the responsibility to promote these competencies and to be the first to introduce them into their programs. However, for this to happen, they must have previously established a framework of reference on which to train in digital competence, and they must be prepared to transmit this knowledge in this context that framework is DigCompEdu. For this reason, in the present research a correlational study is carried out with a retrospective ex-post-facto design to analyse the digital competencies of future teachers in the Faculty of Education Sciences at the University of Granada. The main results of the research carried out are that the self-perceived digital competence varies according to the sex of the students, being more positive in the case of men, while other factors such as the course or degree do not have a significant relevance. However, the majority of students at the Faculty of Education of the University of Granada have a self-assessed level of B1 as their level of digital competence, which is insufficient for transmission to future generations. This is also maintained because, according to the students, spaces, and training related to this aspect are not generated, although there are disparities according to the degree of this thinking

Gamified family-based health exercise intervention to improve adherence to 24-h movement behaviors recommendations in children: "3, 2, 1 Move on Study"

Background Evidence suggests that movement patterns, including physical activity, sedentary behavior, and sleep duration, throughout a 24-h period, have a signifcant impact on biological processes and health outcomes for both young and adult populations. However, 80% of adolescents worldwide are not sufciently active, and many children do not meet international physical activity recommendations for their age. Thus, the aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of a 12-week gamifed family-based health and exercise intervention on physical ftness, basic motor competencies, mental and behavioral health, and adherence to 24-h movement guidelines in children aged 4 to 5 years old. The study will evaluate changes in sedentary levels, physical ftness, basic motor competencies, mental and behavioral disorders, adherence to the exercise program, and compliance with physical activity recom‑ mendations. In addition, the aim of this protocol is to describe the scientifc rationale in detail and to provide informa‑ tion about the study procedures. Methods/design A total of 80 children, aged 4 to 5 years old, will be randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to one of two groups: the exercise group and the routine care group. The exercise group will undergo a 12-week exercise interven‑ tion, followed by a 12-week follow-up period. On the other hand, the routine care group will undergo a 12-week period of routine care, followed by a 12-week follow-up control period. The exercise program will be implemented in a family setting and facilitated through a gamifed web platform with online supervision, with the hypothesis that it will have a positive impact on physical ftness, anthropometric measures, basic motor competencies, and adherence to 24-h movement guidelines. Discussion The results of this study will provide valuable insights into the impact of a gamifed, family-oriented health and exercise program on various aspects of health, including physical ftness, basic motor competencies, mental and behavioral well-being, and adherence to 24-h movement guidelines. The fndings will contribute to clos‑ ing the gap in current knowledge on the efectiveness of these types of interventions for children and their parents. These fndings will also contribute to the development of future guidelines for promoting physical activity in childrenOpen Access funding provided by Universidad Pública de Navarra.
