Immunohistochemical Expression of Matrix Metalloprotease-2 and Matrix Metalloprotease-9 in the Disks of Patients with Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction

Purpose Matrix metalloproteases (MMPs) are tissue-remodeling enzymes that function during the remodeling process, such as in immune-inflammatory diseases. Metalloprotease-2 (MMP-2) and metalloprotease-9 (MMP-9) are gelatinases that degrade several types of extracellular matrix collagen. It is hypothesized that in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, MMP-2 and MMP-9 expression levels may be elevated. Therefore, the objective of this study is to determine the association of MMP-2 and MMP-9 expression with temporomandibular joint dysfunction using an immunohistochemical approach to evaluate the joint disk. Material and Methods A total of 45 human temporomandibular joint samples were collected, with 36 samples in the test group (patients with anterior disk displacement with reduction (n = 29) and without reduction (n = 7)) and nine samples in the control group. The immunostaining of the TMJ disks was statistically compared between the groups (P \u3c 0.05). Results There was a statistically significant difference for the area of MMP-2 immunostaining between the control group and the displacement disks with reduction group (ADDwR) (P = 0.048) and between the groups with disk displacement and without reduction (ADDwoR) (P = 0.029). The expression of MMP-2 was significantly elevated in the ADDwoR group. Conclusion No statistically significant difference was found between the variable area of MMP-9 expression in the disk with and without disk displacement, as determined by immunohistochemical analysis. However, there was an elevation of MMP-2 expression in the disks of patients with displacement and without reduction (more severe alteration)

Interleukin-6 Expression in Disc Derangement of Human Temporomandibular Joint and Association with Osteoarthrosis

The inflammatory process is a coordinated response that protects host after infection or trauma, involving several molecular reactions. Once the inflammation is closely linked to the process of destruction of the temporomandibular joint, this study aims to examine, by immunohistochemistry, the expression of interleukin-6 (IL-6), an important inflammatory marker, in temporomandibular articular discs of patients with anterior disc displacement with (ADDwR) and without reduction (ADDwoR) and its association with osteoarthrosis (OA). Thirty-eight (n = 38) articular discs were divided into two cutoffs: 1) analysis 1: 4 control (acute pathology), 17 ADDwR, 17 ADDwoR; and 2) analysis 2: without OA (n = 21) and with OA (n = 17). The area of immunostaining was compared statistically between groups (p \u3c 0.05). In the disc samples, no significant differences were observed between the groups ADDwR and ADDwoR, and with and without OA, in respect to the expression of IL-6 by immunohistochemical examination. Future studies should be conducted with a larger sample size, which could clarify the association of the inflammatory mediator IL-6 with temporomandibular joint dysfunction

“Tradução e acessibilidade: o conto Cathedral, de Raymond Carver, em língua portuguesa, código Braille e audioleitura.”

Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (graduação)—Universidade de Brasília, Instituto de Letras, Departamento de Línguas Estrangeiras e Tradução, 2019.Este trabalho tem como propósito promover uma reflexão sobre o ato tradutório e produção em formato acessível do conto Cathedral, de Raymond Carver. O presente Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso desenvolve uma análise do referido ato e de seus produtos, considerando em detalhes as decisões tomadas, a repercussão do uso de mecanismos de acessibilidade na conjuntura da obra, os aspectos motivadores do trabalho e as abordagens teóricas que nortearam todo o processo de tradução. Este trabalho teve início a partir da leitura do conto original e da realização de uma primeira tradução, que não esquadrinhou a extensão do contexto do conto e sua implicação para a construção de significados na tradução. Após a conclusão dessa etapa, percebeu-se que a estratégia utilizada não havia surtido o efeito esperado, uma vez que algumas partes do texto não faziam muito sentido. Por essa razão, foi realizada uma pesquisa sobre teorias que contribuíssem para uma melhor execução do trabalho, resultando na utilização do conceito de liberdade/fidelidade, de Walter Benjamin, e da teoria do caleidoscópio, de Boris Schnaiderman, para dar base à análise final. A partir da tradução no par linguístico inglês-português, buscaram-se meios para implantar os recursos de acessibilidade escolhidos: código Braille e audioleitura.This work aims to promote a reflection about the translation act and the production in accessible format of Raymond Carver's short story Cathedral. This Course Conclusion Paper develops an analysis of the act and its products, considering in detail the decisions taken, repercussions of the use of accessibility mechanisms on the context of the work, motivating aspects of the work and theoretical approaches that guided the whole translation process. The work started with the reading of the original tale and a first translation, which did not scan the tale's context extension and its implication for the construction of meanings in the translation. After completing this step, it was realized that the strategy used had not had the expected effect, since some parts of the text did not make much sense. For this reason, a research was conducted on theories that contributed to a better execution of the work, resulting in the use of Walter Benjamin's concept of freedom / fidelity and Boris Schnaiderman's kaleidoscope theory to support the final analysis. From the translation in the English-Portuguese language pair, means were sought to deploy the accessibility features chosen: Braille code and audio reading

Equipamentos culturais como mediadores na intervenção comunitária. A Biblioteca Humana e a Biblioteca de Marvila em relação por uma comunidade

Projeto de intervenção apresentado à Escola Superior de Educação de Lisboa para obtenção de grau de mestre em Educação Social e Intervenção ComunitáriaO presente projeto de intervenção comunitária pretende unir os propósitos de duas bibliotecas: Biblioteca âncora de Marvila1 e Biblioteca Humana validando a hipótese de que os equipamentos culturais podem ser mediadores na intervenção comunitária em territórios de vulnerabilidade social. Confluentes em objetivos, os slogans das bibliotecas em referência: “As pessoas fazem as bibliotecas” (Biblioteca de Marvila) e “Pessoas Reais, Histórias Reais” (The Human Library ™), revelam a (re)construção social, o pulsar de uma comunidade, sujeito de uma certa invisibilidade, que é um espaço in between: uma zona da cidade de Lisboa, que agora transita entre dinâmicas de tudo-nada,2 novo-antigo, memória-requalificação. Permeada pelo simbolismo próprio da biblioteca e da relação de aproximação e recuo entre livros e leitores num enquadramento convencional, num virar de páginas contínuo, a Biblioteca Humana permitiu estabelecer fluxos de comunicação, por vezes imprevisíveis, entre pessoas (sem vínculo prévio), com o objetivo claro de redefinição de relações interpessoais em que comportamentos discriminatórios como o preconceito, o estereótipo e o estigma são postos em jogo num ambiente controlado e que se pretende saudável. Joga-se o jogo do conhecimento: Quem sou eu?; Quem é você?; Quem somos nós? Marvila, enquanto território do presente projeto de intervenção, é atualmente palco e motor de mudança; alavanca de transformação social. Neste ambiente propício e estimulante, duas bibliotecas dialogam por esta comunidade: um equipamento cultural (Biblioteca de Marvila) e uma metodologia de intervenção inovadora (Biblioteca Humana). A confluência de objetivos é competente para oferecer à comunidade circundante, esta ação pensada com as sensibilidades auscultadas no território. Livros humanos e leitores (também humanos) foram protagonistas desta metodologia, implementada a favor da vivência da alteridade e reconhecimento do outro como fonte de conhecimento e pertença a uma comunidade que se descobre humanizada. Deste encontro, nasceram sensações e “estranhamentos”; certezas e dúvidas, mas essencialmente a ideia que esta metodologia faz o que se dispõe a fazer: desconstruir comportamentos discriminatórios. Os resultados destes encontros indicam-nos que a validação da hipótese de partida é possível: equipamentos culturais são mediadores de intervenção comunitária em territórios de vulnerabilidade social. Recomenda-se que, a partir desta comprovação, a comunidade seja entendida não só como receptora, mas também como coautora das dinâmicas propostas pelos equipamentos culturais – orgânicos e destinados à melhoria da vida das pessoas que os escolhem e frequentam.ABSTRACT The present project of community intervention intends to unite the purposes of two libraries: Biblioteca de Marvila and Human Library validating the hypothesis that cultural equipment can be mediators in community intervention in territories of social vulnerability. Confluent in objectives, the slogans of the libraries in reference: "People make the libraries" (Biblioteca de Marvila) and "Real People," ( Human Library ™) reveal the social (re) construction, the community, subject of a certain invisibility Permeated by the library's own symbolism and the relation of approach and retreat between books and readers in a conventional framework, in a continuous turning of pages, the Human Library allowed to establish flows of communication, sometimes unpredictable, between people (without previous bond), with a clear goal of redefining interpersonal relationships in which discriminatory behaviors such as prejudice, stereotype and stigma are put into play in a controlled and healthy environment. The game of knowledge is played: Who am I ?; Who are you?; Who are we? Marvila, as the territory of this intervention project, is currently the stage and engine of change; lever of social transformation. In this propitious and stimulating environment, two libraries dialogue through this community: a cultural equipment (Biblioteca de Marvila) and an innovative intervention methodology (Human Library). The confluence of objectives is competent to offer to the surrounding community, this action thought with sensibilities auscultated in the territory. Human books and readers (also human) were protagonists of this methodology, implemented in favor of the experience of alterity and recognition of the other as a source of knowledge and belonging to a community that is humanized. From this encounter, feelings and "estrangement" were born; certainties and doubts, but essentially the idea that this methodology does what it is prepared to do: deconstruct discriminatory behaviors. The results of these meetings indicate that validation of the starting hypothesis is possible. It is recommended that, from this evidence, the community be understood not only as a recipient, but also as a co-author of the dynamics proposed by cultural equipment - organic and intended to improve the lives of the people who choose them and attend.N/

Sexo e Gênero: quando a lógica categorial da modernidade os invisibiliza

O artigo “Sexo e Gênero: quando a lógica categorial da modernidade os invisibiliza” propõe uma análise da produção da diferença entre gênero e sexualidade inserida na lógica da modernidade. O problema central a ser enfrentado é: como se produz a noção e a diferença de sexo e gênero na epistemologia moderna, quais as consequências e alternativas? De modo geral, o objetivo da pesquisa é demonstrar que sexo e gênero são categorias que fazem sentido, principalmente, dentro da epistemologia moderna. Especificamente, os objetivos da pesquisa são: (i) expor as formas de colonialidade e como se relacionam com a lógica categorial do sistema moderno/colonial; (ii) argumentar sobre a lógica discursiva e contextual do sexo e gênero; (iii) propor alternativas à lógica categorial da modernidade. A interdisciplinaridade nas práticas pedagógicas dos docentes-formadores dos cursos de licenciatura em educação do campo da área de Ciências da Natureza

Nesta investigação tivemos como objetivo central compreender como as práticas pedagógicas dos docentes-formadores dos cursos de Licenciaturas em Educação do Campo de Ciências da Natureza do Rio Grande do Sul potencializam a perspectiva interdisciplinar na formação inicial de professores. Como problema de pesquisa destacamos: Como as práticas pedagógicas dos docentes-formadores dos cursos de LEdoC-CN do RS potencializam a perspectiva interdisciplinar na formação inicial de professores? Em relação aos pressupostos teóricos que fundamentam a pesquisa, centralizamos em autores e produções teóricas que têm se dedicado à discussão sobre a formação de professores, a interdisciplinaridade e as Licenciaturas em Educação do Campo da área de Ciências da Natureza. A pesquisa teve uma abordagem qualitativa de estudo de caso múltiplo e foi desenvolvida em cinco cursos de LEdoC-CN do RS, de quatro IES federais. O estudo na busca de informações que contribuíssem na compreensão do fenômeno pesquisado coletamos dados por meio dos seguintes instrumentos: i) pesquisa bibliográfica; ii) análise documental dos Projetos Políticos Pedagógicos; e, iii) entrevista com os docentes-formadores. As entrevistas foram realizadas com vinte e um docentes-formadores/as dos cursos de LEdoC-CN, que tivessem formação na área de Ciências da Natureza, que trabalhassem componentes curriculares na área de Ciências da Natureza e/ou estágios supervisionados curriculares. No desenvolvimento da pesquisa elencamos as seguintes categorias finais: Compreensão dos elementos estruturantes do curso de LEdoC-CN: Interformação dos docentes-formadores; (Re) Significar a prática pedagógica dos docentes-formadores a partir do Curso de LEdoC-CN; Os espaços interdisciplinares no curso de LEdoC-CN que potencializam interdisciplinaridade na formação inicial de professores. Diante do exposto, defendemos na tese que os docentes-formadores dos cursos de LEdoC-CN desenvolve atividades e ações interdisciplinares que potencializam a perspectiva interdisciplinar na formação inicial de professores nos levando a constatar que o trabalho coletivo e a docência compartilhada possibilitam o diálogo, as trocas de saberes e aprendizagem entre os docentes formadores com possibilidade de materializar essa formação. Do mesmo modo, verificamos que a parceria vivenciada no curso entre seus pares – docente formador, discentes e comunidades – possibilita que as práticas pedagógicas dos docentes-formadores sejam ressignificadas constantemente pautado pelos saberes dos docentes e por consequência sua identidade profissional.The main objective of this investigation was to understand how the pedagogical practices of the teacher-trainers of the Degrees in Education in the Field of Natural Sciences in Rio Grande do Sul potentiate the interdisciplinary perspective in the initial training of teachers. As a research problem, we highlight: How do the pedagogical practices of the teachers-trainers of the LEdoC-CN courses in RS enhance the interdisciplinary perspective in the initial training of teachers? Regarding the theoretical assumptions that underlie the research, we focus on authors and theoretical productions that have been dedicated to the discussion on teacher training, interdisciplinarity and Degrees in Education in the Field of Natural Sciences. The research had a qualitative approach of multiple case study and was developed in five courses of LEdoC-CN of RS, of four federal HEIs. The study in the search for information that would contribute to the understanding of the researched phenomenon, we collected data through the following instruments: i) bibliographic research; ii) document analysis of the Pedagogical Political Projects; and, iii) interview with the teacher-trainers. The interviews were carried out with twenty-one teacher-trainers of the LEdoC-CN courses, who had training in the area of Natural Sciences, who worked on curricular components in the area of Natural Sciences and/or supervised curricular internships. In the development of the research, we listed the following final categories: Understanding of the structuring elements of the LEdoC-CN course: Inter-training of professors-trainers; (Re) Meaning the pedagogical practice of the teacher-trainers from the LEdoC-CN Course; The interdisciplinary spaces in the LEdoC-CN course that enhance interdisciplinarity in the initial training of teachers. In view of the above, we defend in the thesis that the teacher-trainers of the LEdoC-CN courses develop interdisciplinary activities and actions that enhance the interdisciplinary perspective in the initial training of teachers, leading us to verify that collective work and shared teaching enable dialogue, exchanges of knowledge and learning among the training teachers with the possibility of materializing this training. In the same way, we verified that the partnership experienced in the course between their peers – teacher trainer, students and communities – enables the pedagogical practices of teacher trainers to be constantly re-signified, guided by the knowledge of teachers and, consequently, their professional identity

O advento dos Direitos Humanos no mundo colonial: a raça como ruptura ontológica

The present work proposes an analysis of the history of Human Rights combined with analyzes of the Theories of the South. The problem to be faced is: what is the place of race in the invention of human rights? The main objective is to suggest that the history of Human Rights in the American continent faced race as a dehumanizing device, requiring the radicalization of the HR discourse in order to overcome race as a category. Specifically, the objectives are: to study the history of human rights, as well as concepts dear to them; highlight the ontological rupture in the colonized world; (To understand Fanon's notion of revolutionary humanism, as well as alternatives for Human Rights in Latin America. For this, research will be carried out using a bibliographic review method.El presente trabajo propone un análisis de la historia de los Derechos Humanos combinado con análisis de las Teorías del Sur. El problema a enfrentar es: ¿cuál es el lugar de la raza en la invención de los derechos humanos? El objetivo principal es indicar que la historia de los Derechos Humanos en el continente americano enfrentó la raza como un dispositivo deshumanizador, requiriendo la radicalización del discurso de los DH para superar la raza como categoría. Expresiones territoriales y urbanización popular en la posconvertibilidad: Aportes a una caracterización socio-espacial y socio-urbana del Conurbano bonaerense

Se sostiene que con los importantes cambios políticos y económicos que tuvo la Argentina con el fin de la convertibilidad se pueden observar expresiones territoriales en el Conurbano bonaerense frente a las reconfiguraciones sociales de las diferentes clases, en especial de los sectores populares. El artículo propone una contribución al campo de los estudios urbanos y buscará aportar a la comprensión del proceso de urbanización popular en la posconvertibilidad, identificando algunas características territoriales del Conurbano en este periodo. Se trata de un primer avance de un proyecto de investigación de tesis doctoral que tiene como uno de los objetivos construir una amplia mirada sobre la realidad y las dimensiones socio-espaciales y socio-urbanas de esos territorios y su relación con el espacio metropolitanoIt is argued that with the important political and economic changes that Argentina had with the end of convertibility can be observed territorial expressions in the Buenos Aires Conurbano (outer Buenos Aires) against the social reconfigurations of the different classes, in special of the popular classes. The article proposes a contribution to the field of urban studies and will seek to contribute to the understanding of the process of popular urbanization in the posconvertibility, identifying some territorial characteristics of the conurbation in this period.
