The aim of this research is to explore the role of metadata management strategies in organizations and seeks to understand how organizations employ strategies and data management in order to help them deal with the huge amount of data, as well as contribute effectively to developing future strategic plans for them. The research depends on the descriptive approach to suit the nature of the research And its objectives, in order to determine the importance of metadata management strategies and their components, and this was based on the reality of data and previous available studies, and the research focuses on providing a theoretical framework for metadata management strategies to support strategic management in the integration of data management source in order to improve the strategic performance of metadata, and the study concluded that some were not keen Organizations to manage metadata in a codified manner; It has not developed a unified, written methodological strategy that explains the conditions of these descriptors, how they are created, organized, and the duration of their preservation, especially that the data descriptors may remain for a longer period of time than the data, which results in the limitations of the data descriptors used in some administrations, and their sometimes inaccuracy in describing the data The study also emphasized that metadata management strategies are one of the basic aspects of data management and governance, and that they organize the data of institutions and facilitate access to them. Continuous and intensive training to understand metadata strategies and stages of development

This study aims to identify the influence of family upbringing patterns used by the parents (father and mother) on deviant behavior and academic achievement of children ages 13 to 15 years old in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A total of 98 talented students and their parents from Jeddah were purposively selected. Data obtained from the sample comprised demographic variables and ratings from a scale of the family upbringing patterns. The patterns are composed of democracy-authoritarian and excessive protection and negligence. The Burks Behavior Rating Scale (BBRS) was used to measure the nature of the behavioral deviations. Harold F Burks developed the BBRS, which consists of seven deviant behaviors, namely, withdrawal, dependability, inability to control actions, inability to control anger, excessive aggression, stubbornness and resistance, and lack of social obedience

DNA barcoding of the genus Verbascum (Scrophulariaceae) in the Arabian Peninsula

    Get PDF
Verbascum and Rhabdotosperma are members of the family Scrophulariaceae. The first genus comprises approximately 360 species from almost all parts of the world, while the second contains a total of 8 species from tropical Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. Since 1977, the relationships between Verbascum and Rhabdotosperma continue to be contested. The present study aims to present the phylogenetic relationships and status among Verbascum species in the Arabian Peninsula. For phylogenetic analyses, maximum parsimony and Bayesian inference were performed. In total, 236 DNA sequences from 59 specimens of Arabian Verbascum were analysed. The phylogenetic analysis of one nuclear (ITS) and three chloroplastic (rbcL, matK, trnL) markers confirmed the monophyly of Verbascum, including the genus Rhabdotosperma. In addition to presenting novel phylogenetic relationships among the different Verbascum species in the Arabian Peninsula, our study reduced the species count of Arabian Verbascum to 16. Moreover, the phylogenetic analysis strongly supports the reinstatement of the genus Rhabdotosperma into Verbascum based on the Bayesian and maximum parsimony analyses

Examine the Perceived Risk of Falls Among Patients Receiving Acute Care

    Get PDF
Purpose: In an effort to lower the number of falls that occur among hospitalized patients, several facilities have begun introducing various fall prevention programs. However, the efficacy of fall prevention programs is diminished if patients do not consider themselves to be at risk for falls and do not follow recommended procedures. The goal of this study was to characterize how patients in four different acute care specialist services felt about their risk of falling while in the hospital. Methods: One hundred patients admitted to the study hospital with a Morse Fall Scale score of 45 or higher were given the Patient Perception Questionnaire, a tool designed to assess a patient's perception of their own fall risk, fear of falling, and motivation to take part in fall prevention efforts. Scores on the Morse Fall Scale were gathered through a historical assessment of medical records. Descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and independent sample t tests were used to examine the data. Results: The average age was 65, and around half (52%) were men and half (48%) were women. Based on their ratings on the Morse Fall Scale, all 100 participants were classified as being at high risk for falls. However, only 55.5% of the individuals agreed with this assessment. The likelihood that a patient would seek assistance and the degree to which they feared falling both declined as their faith in their mobility improved. Patients hospitalized after a fall exhibited considerably lower confidence scores and greater fear scores than patients who had not been injured in a fall. Conclusions: Patients who have a high fall risk assessment score may not believe they are at risk for falls and may not take any steps to reduce their risk. The prevalence of falls in hospitals might be mitigated by the creation of a fall risk assessment technique that takes into account both objective and subjective factors

Photoreceptor therapy: generation of neurosphere-like cells from human mesenchymal stem cells expressing erythropoietin

    Get PDF
The loss of photoreceptors is a major concern implicated in age-macular degeneration (AMD), a type of neurodegenerative disorder. Failure to prescribe a suitable treatment due to the lack of understanding of the molecular pathogenesis, and limited capacity to compensate irreparably damaged photoreceptors in the retina have greatly contributed to the progression of visual dysfunction. Our previous study has shown that Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) expressing erythropoietin (EPO) could commit into photoreceptor cell lineage. However, the efficiency of cell differentiation is limited. The present study aims to explore the capacity of these MSCs to form neurospheres. The cells were transduced with lentiviral particles encoding for human EPO and green fluorescent protein (GFP) genes, culture-expanded and sorted before subjected for differentiation induction into neural precursor cells. Our results showed that MSC-EPO developed into larger neurosphere and expressed relatively higher expression of nestin compared with MSCs alone when cultured under neural induction medium. These preliminary findings suggested that MSC-EPO have greater neurogenic potential than MSCs alone. Further study is needed to evaluate the possibilities of neurosphere to delete differentiate into functional photoreceptor cells. We believe that the success of neurosphere expansion may potentially be useful in scaling up the manufacturing of photoreceptors in a shorter time and at an efficient cost for retinal cell replacement therapy

Impact of tobacco smoking on oral microbiota – a case-control study.

    Get PDF
Oral microbiota is a vital part of human microbiota, including bacterial, protozoa, viral and fungal species. Beneficial microbes form biofilms to form a first-line defense against harmful microorganisms. Tobacco smoking is considered a major environmental factor affecting the orodental microbiota. Smokers harbor more pathogenic microbes than non-smokers. In fact, cigarette smoking exposes the oral cavity to a large number of toxicants, perturbing the oral microbial ecology through various mechanisms. In Saudi Arabia, research on the impact of tobacco smoking on oral microbiota is still lacking. Therefore, this case-control study is an important addition to the literature in terms of tobacco use and its effects on oral microbiota and oral hygiene. 130 men were recruited for this study, including 65 smokers and 65 non-smokers. The following parameters were recorded for all 130 participants – age, weight, height and education. The aim of this study was to investigate and compare the effect of tobacco smoking on the oral microbiome of smokers and non-smokers. The majority of the smokers were young adults between the ages of 21 and 30 inclusive (n=27). The results show that excessive microorganism growth was seen in smokers to a greater degree than non-smokers (38.5% of smokers vs. 8.8% of non-smokers). Not surprisingly, a significant majority (85.3%) of non-smokers had moderate microorganism growth compared to only 53.8% of smokers. cigarette smoking facilitates excessive growth of oral microorganisms, predisposing smokers to various periodontal diseases. In fact, smoking perturbs the balance of oral microbiota, producing a viable environment for microbes to cause diseases. Further large scale prospective studies are required to determine the exact mechanism that causes tobacco to affect oral microbiota

According to latest figures, 50% of individuals will have a minimum of one mental health issue in their lifetime, with at least 25% experiencing a mental condition in the previous year. primary care doctors are overwhelmingly responsible for recognition, evaluation, therapy, and referral, with at least one-third of their consultations containing a direct and obvious mental aspect Primary care physicians are the foundation of the majority of medical care programs that involve recognizing, diagnosing, treating, and referring patients to specialists for every kind of diseases, whether physical, mental, or both. Over the last two decades, there has been a greater emphasis on this position, notably in the treatment of mental problems in primary care
