Collider Detection of Dark Matter Electromagnetic Anapole Moments
Dark matter that interacts with the Standard Model by exchanging photons
through higher multipole interactions occurs in a wide range of both strongly
as well as weakly coupled hidden sector models. We study the collider detection
prospects of these candidates, with a focus on Majorana dark matter that
couples through the anapole moment. The study is conducted at the effective
field theory level with the mono- signature incorporating varying levels of
systematic uncertainties at the high-luminosity LHC. The projected collider
reach on the anapole moment is then compared to the reach coming from direct
detection experiments like LZ. Finally, the analysis is applied to a weakly
coupled completion with leptophilic dark matter.Comment: 24 pages, 9 figure
Environmental typology of rivers from the Brazilian semiarid as a first step for the application of the index of biotic integrity: The case of the Chapada Diamantina
Defining environmental river types is an essential step in the development of accurate fish‐based methods (IBI, Index of Biotic Integrity) to assess the environmental quality of aquatic ecosystems. In this study, the environmental typology of the rivers and streams in the region of Chapada Diamantina was developed. Thirty‐five sampling sites representative of the upper Paraguaçu River and its main tributaries were characterized to characterize the fish assemblages and abiotic environmental descriptors. A cluster analysis based on fish species CPUE was performed to define a first biological typology. Then, a discriminant analysis model was developed to select the environmental descriptors that explained the fish‐based river types. The model selected 11 environmental variables and classified 91% of the cases. The river typology defined in this study will be used for the development of an IBI to assess the ecological status of the Chapada Diamantina rivers. It is expected that both the typology developed here and the future IBI will provide important and useful tools to develop and apply nature conservation‐oriented management schemes in the Chapada Diamantina aquatic ecosystems.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio
Method to obtain nonuniformity information from field emission behavior

The following article appeared in Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology Part B: Microelectronics and Nanometer Structures, 28(3), Article number 441 and may be found at http://scitation.aip.org/content/avs/journal/jvstb/28/3/10.1116/1.3327928.This article describes the characterization of field emission from a planar cathode to a spherical anode with the approach curve method (ACM). In such a diode configuration the electric field strength at the cathode surface is nonuniform. This nonuniformity gives an extra degree of freedom and it allows the interpretation of the current-voltage and voltage-distance (V×d) curves in terms of nonuniformity. The authors apply the ACM to Cu emitters to explain the nonlinearity of the V×d curve in ACM measurements. This analysis provides a good insight into field emission phenomena, supporting a method for nonuniformity characterization based on field emission behavior
The 2020 oil price war has increased integration between G7 stock markets and crude oil WTI
This paper aims to examine whether the oil price war between Saudi
Arabia and Russia has increased integration between the Crude Oil WTI Spot oil
index and the G7 stock markets, namely France (CAC 40), Germany (DAX 30),
USA (DOW JONES), UK (FTSE 100), Italy (FTSE MID), Japan (Nikkei 225), Canada
(S&P TSX), from January 2018 to January 2021. The results show that in the
period before the oil price war, the G7 stock markets and the WTI index had 29
integrations (out of 56 possible). The WTI index is integrated with the UK stock
markets (FTSE 100), and Japan (NIKKEI 225), and is integrated into the Japanese
market. In the period of the oil price war, the G7’s stock markets and the Crude
Oil WTI Spot index had 43 integrations (out of 56 possible), namely the WTI,
Dow Jones, and Nikkei 225 indexes, with all their peers (7 out of 7 possible).
When comparing the period before and during the 2020 oil crash, we found
that integrations increased significantly from 29 to 43 (out of 56 possible); we
also found that the Crude Oil WTI Spot index is no longer a safe haven for portfolio
diversification in G7 stock markets. These findings validate our research
issue, i.e., the oil price war between Saudi Arabia and Russia had increased integrations,
and this evidence could question portfolio diversification.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
The determination of the apsidal angles and Bertrand's theorem
We derive an expression for the determination of the apsidal angles that
holds good for arbitrary central potentials. Then we discuss under what
conditions the apsidal angles remain independent of the mechanical energy and
angular momentum in the central force problem. As a consequence, an alternative
and non-perturbative proof of Bertrand's theorem is obtained.Comment: Latex file, one figure; submitted for publicatio

Estimation of incoming global solar radiation and its diffuse component at the surface in Paraiba state (NE Brazil)
Results of a study on the estimation of mean monthly values of incoming global solar radiation and its diffuse component at some stations in Paraiba state (NE Brazil) are presented in this paper. Radiation data at four stations is used. ˚Angstr¨om-type equations are derived for the estimation of global radiation and the diffuse fraction of global radiation is expressed in terms of the clearness index and the sunshine ratio. The applicability of previously reported equations for stations in this region is investigated

A genetic code alteration generates a proteome of high diversity in the human pathogen Candida albicans
Background - Genetic code alterations have been reported in mitochondrial, prokaryotic, and eukaryotic cytoplasmic translation systems, but their evolution and how organisms cope and survive such dramatic genetic events are not understood.
Results - Here we used an unusual decoding of leucine CUG codons as serine in the main human fungal pathogen Candida albicans to elucidate the global impact of genetic code alterations on the proteome. We show that C. albicans decodes CUG codons ambiguously and tolerates partial reversion of their identity from serine back to leucine on a genome-wide scale.
Conclusion - Such codon ambiguity expands the proteome of this human pathogen exponentially and is used to generate important phenotypic diversity. This study highlights novel features of C. albicans biology and unanticipated roles for codon ambiguity in the evolution of the genetic code.publishe
