    Get PDF
This work analyzes the influence and efficiency of BYOD for learning students and academic perfection. The relevance of mobile technologies for learning has been substantiated. The influence of BYOD on academic performance of undergraduate students in terms of their test scores and final course marks, as well as on quality of work on selected course projects and on level of satisfaction with the BYOD course, has been experimentally studied. It has been proved that BYOD exerts positive influence on learning and academic achievements of students measured by their academic test scores, by their final marks and quality of their classroom work, as well as that the implementation of BYOD will stimulate and motivate students, thus affecting their level of involvement and creation of independent learning. The experimental results should be used as a guide for persons making decisions as well as for practical specialists in the field of education, especially in the area of BYOD and mobile learning, which will save significant expenses for stationary learning (for instance, concerning desktop computers, projectors, etc.). Scientific novelty of the studies is that the influence of BYOD on academic performance of students in terms of their test scores and final course marks, as well as on quality of students’ work on selected course projects and on level of satisfaction with the BYOD course, has been comprehensively analyzed

Purpose: to perform a review of an under-investigated bluegrass crop – tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.), which is not widespread in forage production, but has some advantages over other bluegrass grasses. Discussion. Tall fescue is characterized by high seed and forage yields, a long-time growing season, early regrowth in spring, an ability to vegetate until late autumn, and an active regrow capacity. Fescue agrocenoses are responsive to irrigation and a high background of mineral nutrition. The ability to grow on saline and alkalini soils is also important. It is widely used for slope and ravines stabilization. Providing optimal combinations of plant life factors creates conditions for good growth, development and formation of high productivity for a long time as well as allows the crop to persist and prevail in multi-species agrocenoses in a wide variety of soil and climatic conditions – from forest and forest-steppe to steppe and semi-desert regions. Tall fescue grows well in damp places under natural conditions. This moisture-loving plant tolerates moisture-saturated, heavy loamy soils well. Regulation of the water regime of fescue crops ensures a more complete use of the biological potential of the crop, which is expressed in the receipt of two additional mowings, compared to natural moisture conditions. Tall fescue is used mainly in the form of hay, silage and haylage. Conclusion. Cultivation of tall fescue against the background of mineral fertilizer application and irrigation ensures an yield increase on average up to 15 t/ha of dry matter and up to 2.5 t/ha of crude protein collection. The wide distribution of this valuable crop in forage production in arid zones is hampered by the lack of scientifically based rational methods for creating highly productive grass stands and elements of cultivation technology

Peculiarities and evolution of Raman spectra of multilayer Ge/Si(001) heterostructures containing arrays of low-temperature MBE-grown Ge quantum dots of different size and number density: Experimental studies and numerical simulations

Ge/Si(001) multilayer heterostructures containing arrays of low-temperature self-assembled Ge quantum dots and very thin Six_xGe1x_{1-x} layers of varying composition and complex geometry have been studied using Raman spectroscopy and scanning tunneling microscopy. The dependence of Raman spectra on the effective thickness of deposited Ge layers has been investigated in detail in the range from 4 to 18 \r{A}. The position and shape of both Ge and SiGe vibrational modes are of great interest since they are closely related to the strain and composition of the material that plays a role of active component in perspective optoelectronic devices based on such structures. In this work, we present an explanation for some peculiar features of Raman spectra, which makes it possible to control the quality of the grown heterostructures more effectively. A dramatic increase of intensity of both the Ge-Ge and Si-Ge bands for the structure containing Ge layers of 10 \r{A} and anomalous shift and broadening of the Si-Ge band for structures comprising Ge layers of 8 and 9 \r{A} thick were observed. In our model, the anomalous behavior of the Raman spectra with the change of thickness of deposited Ge is connected with the flatness of Ge layers as well as transitional SiGe domains formed via the stress-induced diffusion from {105} facets of quantum dots. The conclusions are supported by the STM studies and the numerical calculations.Comment: 17 pages, 11 figure

Re-engineering as the Process of Business Adaptations

Reengineering - is primarily a result of information technology. Due to the method of reengineering, we can consider the activities of enterprises, highlighting their function. Every company or organization has a plan. About two hundred years ago, it was shown that by sharing the work, the person focuses on one thing, and it performs better. Guided by this discovery of Adam Smith, the people for a long time applied the principle of division of labour. Currently, the production cannot be called effective. Highly specialized work superseded the multistage division of labour, which requires the coordination of all phases of the production process. Economic viability and competitiveness of the companies must be based on the adoption of new models of organizations. One of the conditions for success in reengineering and its implementation is considered to be the drafting of another, already the updated business process with the implementation of a large arsenal of techniques. To perform reengineering is assigned a person who is the project leader (the company of senior management). Then we formed a team, which includes specialists and experts. Create Committee monitors the implementation of engineering strategy and to monitor the implementation of the project. Background/Aims Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS)-guided drainage is the preferred approach for infected or symptomatic pancreatic fluid collections (PFCs). Here, we developed an algorithm for the management of pancreatitis complicated by PFCs and report on its effcacy and safety. Methods Between September 2011 and October 2017, patients were prospectively managed according to the algorithm. PFCs were classified as poorly organized fluid collections (POFCs), pancreatic pseudocysts (PPs), or walled-off pancreatic necrosis (WOPN). Clinical success was defined as a decrease in PFC size by ≥50% of the maximal diameter or to ≤2 cm. Results A total of 108 patients (62% male; mean age, 53 years) were included: 13 had POFCs, 43 had PPs, and 52 had WOPN. Seventytwo patients (66%) required a pancreatic duct (PD) stent, whereas 65 (60%) received enteral feeding. A total of 103 (95%) patients achieved clinical success. Eight patients experienced complications including bleeding (n=6) and surgical intervention (n=2). Patients with enteral feeding were 3.4 times more likely to achieve resolution within 60 days (p=0.0421), whereas those with PD stenting was five times more likely to achieve resolution within 90 days (p=0.0069). Conclusions A high PFC resolution rate can be achieved when a dedicated algorithm encompassing EUS-guided drainage, PD stenting, and early enteral feeding is adopted
