    : Lecturers and teachers should be creative in choosing and determining an ap­pro­priate method or approach to be applied in their teaching and learning. The acti­vi­ty of choosing and determining any technique, method, approach, model, and strategy is such a main activity before coming to the class. The fallacy of choosing method in teaching can be a paradoct to the instructional objectives. This the­oretical anlaysis try to reunlock any new perspective of using direct method in con­ducting English teaching and learning process. The way of interpretation and ma­nipulation of method appropriately not only can enhance the quality of tea­ching and learning process but also leaning outcome or students\u27 achievement. Using direct method in teaching English, especially for teaching language skills, such as speaking, grammar aspect, not only in spoken aspect but also written one. Applying direct method in teaching and learning English should pay attention to the students and the characteristics of the materials that will be taught. The using of direct method should be continuously used in teaching and learning English as a foreign language or target language

    Investigation related to reading comprehension has been conducted by a number of researchers and even some of them focussing their research on reading conprehension of narrative text. However, research on this respect needs pay more attention to be scrutinied. The aims of this research are to know and to describe the implementation of group work technique that improve students reading comprehension of narrative text. The problem raised in the research is about low scores of reading comprehension of narrative text gotten by eighth grade students of SMPN 13 Tangerang Selatan. The number of students is 40. Instrument used in this research is observation, questionnaire, and test. The technique is used in collecting data in the research is qualitative data. The qualitative data consisted of observation within the physical activity in the classroom. Moreover, the questionnaire for student is made to support in collecting the data. In analyzing qualitative data, rating scale table is used to measure the observation of students’ activities during teaching learning process. Meanwhile, some statistical formula is used in analyzing the numerical data. The findings of this study are: 1. Related to the test result, there are 20% or 8 students passing KKM in pre action test, 47.5% or 21 students passing KKM in cycle 1 test and 80% or 32 students passing KKM in cycle 2. 2. Related to the observation result, the students were more active and interested in learning reading activity in the classroom through group work technique. Furthermore, they could cooperative well with their group.     Dilemma in distance learning during the covid-19 pandemic: The EFL teachers’ perspective

    The dilemma in teaching has been long discussed in the discourse of education, yet the topic has received little attention concerning online teaching, especially during the latest The Covid-19 pandemic. Addressing the gap, the study utilized interview and document analysis that organized following Schwab’s curriculum commonplaces to discover the dilemma encountered according to the perspective of English teachers of SMPN 6 Tangerang Selatan in distance learning during the Covid-19 pandemic situation. The result of interview of four on-duty EFL teachers of SMPN 6 Tangerang Selatan and the analysis of the teachers’ lesson plans and the Circular Letter of Ministry of Education and Culture No. 4 Year 2020 showed the dilemma comprised issues of optimizing teachers’ efforts and authority, maximizing learning comprehension, developing favorable attitudes, maximizing learning time usage, maintaining the children’s academic availability, maintaining a motivating environment for students, and offering academic opportunity for students. The findings inferred a central conflict between teachers’ interests and expectations of the curriculum. From the account of the teachers, they tackled the conflict by improving their IT skills and modifying the learning schedules. However, since the conflict was dilemmatic, the two solutions of teachers still left residual problems both for the teacher and the students

    Dalam proses pengambilan keputusan yang melibatkan banyak kriteria dan banyak alternatif, metode analytical hierarchy ( AHP ) sering digunakan sebagai metode pemecahan permasalahan. Pengambilan keputusan dilakukan dengan memberikan nilai persepsi sebagai pembobot oleh seorang pengambil keputusan atau ahli. Padahal dalam beberapa pengambilan keputusan, pemberian nilai persepsi melibatkan kelompok ahli. Dimana setiap ahli memiliki nilai persepsi masing-masing. Nilai-nilai persepsi yang diinputkan ahli dimungkinkan untuk melebihi nilai CR normal yaitu 0.1.Sehingga perlu ada proses pencarian pembobot terbaik dari kelompok ahli tersebut untuk dapat meminimalkan nilai CR. Untuk pencarian pembobot terbaik dan meminimalkan CR dilakukan dengan menggunakan algoritma genetika yang mana pada akhir nya diharapkan akan menghasilkan keputusan optimal yang mewakili kelompok ahli dan memiliki nilai CR atau konsistensi nilai yang lebih baik. Dari uji coba menunjukan bahwa jika nilai CR awal melebihi 0.1 penggunaan AHP GA dapat mengoptimalkan/meminimalkan nilai CR sekitar 35 % – 82% pada data uji pertama,43% - 93% pada data uji coba kedua.     Gender Representation in English Textbooks for Islamic Junior High School Students

    This article would investigate the gender representation in English textbooks for MTs Students. In detail, the investigation covered: Gender-biased, gender posistion, authors’ understanding, male and female position, the explicitly or implicitly presented the gender representation in the English textbook for MTs students.  Critical Multimodal Analysis and Content Analysis Method was used to analyze the data. The results will be expected is to obtain the clear understanding of each aspects regarding to the gender representation in the English textbooks for MTs as the object of  the investigated. Furthermore, another result can be summed up is the authors of English for MTs use imageare used inequal or unbalance. In other  words, the authors of “English on Sky” Grade VIII for MTs/Junior High School shows that the gender positioning was inequal. In the meantime, the authors use some words to illustrate or depict the gender which are in English textbook “English in Focus”, they are adjective, proper name, and pronoun.  Based on the result as seen above, the authors of the two English textbooks, not only the authors of English in Focus but also English on Sky have somewhat understanding  the gender bias, gender streotype

    This study analyzed the feminist analysis of children fairytale "The Lazy Girl". In this case, the researchers selected the children fairytale from the perspective of modern feminism framework analysis and identified the moral values of this story. This study focused on the main character of the story drawn as brave and hardworking character. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive analysis. The researchers analyzed the text of the story from a YouTube channel based on the feminist approach. The finding showed that the second and the third wave of feminist characteristic were used in this story. The main character of this this story showed the brave and hardworking of young girl which related to the feminist framework. In addition, this story has good moral values for children and provides a positive impact for the children

    The background of this research comes from the viral post of Mang Oleh’s homemade named Odading cake. Well-known uniquely reviewed by a man named Ade Londok. The controversial diction that is used by Ade Londok is very interesting, unusual, and of course, amusing. His entertaining figure with his unusual review style made this man from the city of Bandung go viral. Previously, it was well-known that Ade Londok was promoting a typical Bandung home made cake called Odading in an amusing manner. He promoted Odading with his mixed accents, between Sundanese and Indonesian. He also slips in a tickling rhyme so that it makes his figure interesting to be viral. The approach used in this research is critical discourse analysis that used a video of Ade Londok and the script of his speech as the source to collect the data. The findings show that the content used Abstract word, Special word, Popular word, and Jargon. It can be concluded as in its original, primary meaning, refers to writers’ or speakers’ distinctive vocabulary choices and style of expression
