Globally reasoning about localised security policies in distributed systems
In this report, we aim at establishing proper ways for model checking the
global security of distributed systems, which are designed consisting of set of
localised security policies that enforce specific issues about the security
expected.
The systems are formally specified following a syntax, defined in detail in
this report, and their behaviour is clearly established by the Semantics, also
defined in detail in this report. The systems include the formal attachment of
security policies into their locations, whose intended interactions are trapped
by the policies, aiming at taking access control decisions of the system, and
the Semantics also takes care of this.
Using the Semantics, a Labelled Transition System (LTS) can be induced for
every particular system, and over this LTS some model checking tasks could be
done. We identify how this LTS is indeed obtained, and propose an alternative
way of model checking the not-yet-induced LTS, by using the system design
directly. This may lead to over-approximation thereby producing imprecise,
though safe, results. We restrict ourselves to finite systems, in the sake of
being certain about the decidability of the proposed method.
To illustrate the usefulness and validity of our proposal, we present 2 small
case-study-like examples, where we show how the system can be specified, which
policies could be added to it, and how to decide if the desired global security
property is met.
Finally, an Appendix is given for digging deeply into how a tool for
automatically performing this task is being built, including some
implementation issues. The tool takes advantage of the proposed method, and
given some system and some desired global security property, it safely (i.e.
without false positives) ensures satisfaction of it
Análisis de la información contable ante la responsabilidad social empresarial de una distribuidora de bienes y servicios del sector automotriz, ubicada en la ciudad de Cúcuta
Con el desarrollo se analizó el nivel de cumplimiento de la Responsabilidad Social Empresarial (RSE) de la información contable, de la empresa representada con el nombre de Organización MAC S.A.S. ubicada en la ciudad de Cúcuta, cuyos resultados permitieron identificar a través de una metodología de tipo descriptiva con un enfoque cuantitativo, a una muestra poblacional representada por 20 personas, de las cuales 18 son operativos y dos directivos, a quiénes se les aplicó una encuesta y llna entrevista, hallando que uno de los factores claves por los cuáles la empresa no ha tenido el éxito esperado a la fecha, por la falta de conocimiento gestión y acompañamiento por parte de los entes gubernamentales y del mismo Contador para implementar la RSE, a pesar que sin darse cuenta, ha ido desarrollando la responsabilidad social, reflejada en los estados financieros en los sueldos, seguridad social, prestaciones, contribuciones y adquisición de sistema verde (compra de llantas usadas). En este sentido, se plantean tres alternativas de solución: aplicar la RSE teniendo en cuenta los procesos de la metodología GRI, posteriormente mediante la propuesta de modelo de balance social que muestra en los activos la inversión delimitada por un presupuesto estimado, en los pasivos dichas inversiones ya comprometidas en el patrimonio con la subcuenta capital, la misma inversión, pero ya aplicada
Design of a Microstrip Bowtie Antenna for Indoor Radio-Communications
In this paper, a microstrip bowtie patch antenna (MBPA) for wireless indoor communications is carried out. Here, a microstrip transmission-line feed network was designed in order to match the MBPA. The proposed antenna uses a ground plane with the aim of narrowing down the back lobes in comparison with bowtie sheet antennas, which radiation pattern is omni-directional. The far-field pattern of the antenna was simulated using a finite-element numerical algorithm and obtained by interpolation employing near-field equipment. The experimental results are described in detail intending to agree well with the simulated predictions. The antenna was designed, measured and built and its far field performance was evaluated with a 2.11 GHz resonant frequency. The azimuth and elevation antenna patterns, antenna gain and, the matching frequency were the main parameters obtained to analyze the antenna behaviour. The antenna has a gain approximately equal to 8.77 dBi and its beam-widths are higher than 100° in E plane
CFD Analysis of BED Textural Characteristics on TBR Behavior: Hydrodynamics and Scaling-up
In recent years, CFD has played an important role in the understanding and design of TBR’s. In this work, through CFD with Eulerian approach, a three-phase heterogeneous reactor model was developed, were the accuracy of Interfacial Momentum Exchange Model (IMEM) for the gas-solid interaction, the effect of a more detailed catalytic bed geometry description, and the pellet shape over TBR hydrodynamics of two fluid phases interacting with the solid phase was studied. Then, a second model was developed, where the validated hy- drodynamic model was coupled with mass transport for an HDS process of light gasoil. Additionally, in order to insight into the scaling up process of a TBRs, the proposed columns behaviors were compared against lit- erature columns using four different ways, and it was found that the best predictions were obtained when the models’ holdup were equaled to those evaluated in literature columns. Since in reliable literature deviations in pressure drop predictions of around 30% can be found, the model results show significant improvement against literature, achieving 5 times better accuracy in predicting pressure drops, and 50% improvement in holdup prediction; the coupled model reproduces the same conversion values compared with literature data, and predicts conversions with 95% accurac
History-sensitive versus future-sensitive approaches to security in distributed systems
We consider the use of aspect-oriented techniques as a flexible way to deal
with security policies in distributed systems. Recent work suggests to use
aspects for analysing the future behaviour of programs and to make access
control decisions based on this; this gives the flavour of dealing with
information flow rather than mere access control. We show in this paper that it
is beneficial to augment this approach with history-based components as is the
traditional approach in reference monitor-based approaches to mandatory access
control. Our developments are performed in an aspect-oriented coordination
language aiming to describe the Bell-LaPadula policy as elegantly as possible.
Furthermore, the resulting language has the capability of combining both
history- and future-sensitive policies, providing even more flexibility and

P38 MAPK expression and activation predicts failure of response to CHOP in patients with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma
The p38 MAPK is constitutively activated in B-NHL cell lines and regulates chemoresistance. Accordingly, we hypothesized that activated p38 MAPK may be associated with the in vivo unresponsiveness to chemotherapy in B-NHL patients.Tissue microarrays generated from eighty untreated patients with Diffused Large B Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL) were examined by immunohistochemistry for the expression of p38 and phospho p38 (p-p38) MAPK. In addition, both Bcl-2 and NF-κB expressions were determined. Kaplan Meier analysis was assessed.Tumor tissues expressed p38 MAPK (82 %) and p-p38 MAPK (30 %). Both p38 and p-p38 MAPK expressions correlated with the high score performance status. A significant correlation was found between the expression p-p38 and poor response to CHOP. The five year median follow-up FFS was 81 % for p38(-) and 34 % for p38(+) and for OS was 83 % for p38(-) and 47 % for p38(+). The p-p38(+) tissues expressed Bcl-2 and 90 % of p-p38(-) where Bcl-2(-). The coexpression of p-p38 and Bcl-2 correlated with pool EFS and OS. There was no correlation between the expression of p-p38 and the expression of NF-κB.The findings revealed, for the first time, that a subset of patients with DLBCL and whose tumors expressed high p-p38 MAPK responded poorly to CHOP therapy and had poor EFS and OS. The expression of p38, p-p38, Bcl2 and the ABC subtype are significant risk factors both p38 and p-p38 expressions remain independent prognostic factors
Virtual research and learning communities in Latin America : The CEVALE2VE case
New strategies for the adaptation of higher scientific education to the requirements of the network society are briefly discussed, in particular the pivotal role played by virtual research and learning communities in the Latin American region. The Centro Virtual de Altos Estudios de Altas Energias (CEVALE2VE) is singled out in reference to the virtual graduate course on particle physics that was given at several Venezuelan and Colombian national universities and research institutions during the semesters September 2014 - February 2015 and March 2016 - July 2016. Different course implementation aspects are reviewed to encourage and facilitate similar regional initiatives in the near future.Peer reviewe
Adenovirus 5 produces obesity and adverse metabolic, morphological, and functional changes in the long term in animals fed a balanced diet or a high‑fat diet: a study on hamsters
Adenovirus 5 (Ad-5) infection is a common cause of acute respiratory infections and the main vector used in gene therapy. There are few studies on the relationship of Ad-5 to obesity. In the present study, we evaluated the chronic effects of Ad-5 infection on golden (Syrian) hamsters fed either a balanced diet (BD) or a high-fat diet (HFD). After a single inoculation with Ad-5 (1 × 107 pfu), the body weight of the animals was measured weekly. Medium-term (22 weeks) serum biochemical analyses and long-term (44 weeks) liver morphology, adiposity, and locomotive functionality (movement velocity) assessments were carried out. In the animals fed the BD, adenovirus infection produced hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia. In the long term, it produced a 57% increase in epididymal pad fat and a 30% body weight gain compared with uninoculated animals. In addition, morphological changes related to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) were observed. The animals fed the HFD had similar but more severe changes. In addition, the hamsters presented an obesity paradox: at the end of the study, the animals that had the most morphological and functional changes (significantly reduced movement velocity) had the lowest body weight. Despite the fact that an HFD appears to be a more harmful factor in the long term than adenovirus infection alone, infection could increase the severity of harmful effects in individuals with an HFD. Epidemiological studies are needed to evaluate the effect of adenovirus as a precursor of chronic liver and cardiovascular diseases, including the chronic effects of gene therapy
