Spatiotemporal Stacked Sequential Learning for Pedestrian Detection

Pedestrian classifiers decide which image windows contain a pedestrian. In practice, such classifiers provide a relatively high response at neighbor windows overlapping a pedestrian, while the responses around potential false positives are expected to be lower. An analogous reasoning applies for image sequences. If there is a pedestrian located within a frame, the same pedestrian is expected to appear close to the same location in neighbor frames. Therefore, such a location has chances of receiving high classification scores during several frames, while false positives are expected to be more spurious. In this paper we propose to exploit such correlations for improving the accuracy of base pedestrian classifiers. In particular, we propose to use two-stage classifiers which not only rely on the image descriptors required by the base classifiers but also on the response of such base classifiers in a given spatiotemporal neighborhood. More specifically, we train pedestrian classifiers using a stacked sequential learning (SSL) paradigm. We use a new pedestrian dataset we have acquired from a car to evaluate our proposal at different frame rates. We also test on a well known dataset: Caltech. The obtained results show that our SSL proposal boosts detection accuracy significantly with a minimal impact on the computational cost. The intense process of industrialization and technocrat planning territorial of the years 1960, have modified the demographic dynamics and the urban structure of the city of Vigo deeply. Theses policies serves as base to study the impacts taken place on the demographic evolution into the city, and the planning figures that should order the populational and physical growth of Vigo. The intense flow inmigratory, a planning ineffective and great floor consumer cause an unbalanced urban development from a demographic point of view, and disordered from the urbanístic perspective.El intenso proceso de industrialización desarrollista y de planificación territorial tecnócrata de los años 1960 ha modificado profundamente la dinámica demográfica y la estructura urbana de la ciudad de Vigo. Corporate bonds, asset-backed securities and deferred checks in Argentina

We describe the evolution of three types of corporate securities in Argentina, namely, corporate bonds, asset-backed securities and deferred checks. Corporate bonds (obligaciones negociables) were legally authorized in 1988, and after a tax reform in 1991 they became an important financing vehicle. Asset backed securities (fideicomisos), legally created in 1995, have been issued since 1996. They typically bundle together small credits of a similar category. Deferred checks (cheques de pago diferido) exist since 1993, alongside standard checks. They can be negotiated on the exchange since 2003, and are akin to commercial paper. Corporate bonds have been overwhelmingly issued by large firms and banks, with an average issue size of 53 million dollars. Asset backed securities have an average value of 9 million dollars. The introduction of real numbers in secondary education. An institutional analysis of textbooks

In this paper we analyse the introduction of irrational and real numbers in secondary textbooks, and specifically the propositions on how these should be taught, in a sample of Brazilian textbooks used in state schools and approved by the Ministry of Education. The analyses discussed in this paper follow an institutional perspective (using Chevallard's Anthropological Theory of Didactics). Our results indicate that the notion of irrational number is generally introduced on the basis of the decimal representation of numbers, and that the mathematical need for the construction of the field of real numbers remains unclear in the textbooks. Herpetofauna of Cayo Carenas, Cienfuegos Bay, south-central Cuba

The herpetofauna inhabiting the keys in Cienfuegos Bay in south-central Cuba is virtually unknown. Herein we provide the results of the first rapid inventory performed on Cayo Carenas during the summer of 2016. We found 12 reptilian species in seven families on the key. Custody transfer procedures of noxious liquid substances in bulk

Este trabajo ofrece un análisis sobre el control de una transferencia de carga de productos químicos, analiza toda la operativa desde el punto de vista del inspector, centrándose en los dos aspectos en los que se encuentra el control del proceso: la calidad y la cantidad. Se muestra el desarrollo de los procesos en base a una normativa internacional escrita por organismos como ASTM, API, IP, ISO, etc. y las particularidades que se llevan a cabo durante el manejo de este tipo de productos. Para una mayor comprensión se incluyen ejemplos de procedimientos estandarizados realizados durante una inspección de cantidad y calidad. Es esencial garantizar que la transferencia se lleve a cabo acorde a los términos recogidos en el contrato establecido por las partes ya que durante la transferencia el producto puede sufrir alteraciones que cambien su composición. Surge por tanto la necesidad de establecer un control durante la custodia que verifique tanto calidad como cantidad del producto. El objetivo de la inspección es prevenir la alteración del producto, y si ocurriese durante su transferencia, descubrir estas alteraciones físicas o químicas. Para prevenirlo se seguirán los estándares aprobados que aseguren su correcta manipulación.ABSTRACT. This work offers an analysis on the control of a chemical transfer of cargo. It analyzes the entire operation from the point of view of the inspector, focusing on the two aspects in which the process control is found: quality and quantity. It shows the development of the processes based on an international regulation written by organizations such as ASTM, API, IP, ISO, etc. and the particularities that are carried out during the handling of this type of products. For greater understanding, examples of standarized procedures performed during a quantity and quality inspection are included. It is essential to ensure that the transfer ir carried out in an accordance with the terms set out in the contract established by the parties, since during the transfer the product may suffer alterations that change its composition. The need, therefore, arises to establish a control during custody that verifies both quality and quantity of the product. The purpose of the inspection is to prevent the alteration of the product, and if it occurs during the transfer, discover these physical or chemical alterations. Nanofabrication and electrochemical characterization of self-assembled monolayers sandwiched between metal nanoparticles and electrode surfaces

et al.Nanoscience and nanotechnology have reached the syllabi of many upper-division undergraduate and master-level courses all over the world. There is therefore a growing need for practical exercises that illustrate the fabrication, characterization, properties, and applications of nanomaterials. Here we describe an advanced-level laboratory experiment in which students had the opportunity to fabricate surfaces modified by ordered monolayers and nanostructured materials. The surface modification was quantified by means of a quartz crystal microbalance, while the electrochemical properties of the nanoarchitectures were assessed using cyclic voltammetry experiments. The CICA GRID: A Cloud Computing Infrastructure on Demand with Open Source Technologies

A new approach technology to enable the expansion and replication of resources on demand is presented in this paper. This approach is called CICA GRID and it provides service to research community in the Scientific Computer Centre of Andalusia (CICA). This approach is an alternative solution to the initial cost involved in building an own data center by public organizations for researches. This solution quickly provides resources with a minimal technical staff effort. Also, an architecture and user interface example called ReCarta was presented.
