An Analytical Approach for the Optimal Operation of Simultaneous AC-DC Power Transmission System

    Get PDF
Simultaneous AC-DC power transmission technique can improve both loadability and stability of a power system with long transmission line. But, there is a tradeoff between loadability and stability i.e. increase in the improvement of loadability causes the decrease in the improvement of stability and vice versa. Actually, it is a multi-objective optimization problem where the objective function depends on two decision variables with opposite in nature. Firstly, this paper presents an analytical expression for the objective function which is the function of two decision variables i.e. power flowing capacity and critical clearing time. Secondly, a mathematical model is developed for the optimal point of the objective function. Considering a typical system a numerical analysis is performed using the proposed expressions. Again, the impact of the line length and the voltage level of a transmission line on the objective function are also investigated. Finally, the developed model of the optimal point is applied to a real system to justify its ability to evaluate the combined benefit of loadability and stability of simultaneous AC-DC system

    Get PDF
Activity of fresh neem leaf juice to immobilize, anaesthetize and fatal effect were studied against two live fish species, Anabas testudineus and Channa punctatus. The concentrations, 5, 10, 15 and 20% of neem leaf juice affected both the species, but A.  testudineus was found to be comparatively more susceptible to the treatment  than C.  punctatus. The time required to immobilize were 4 to > 6 hours for A. testudineus and 7 to 9 hours for C.  punctatus; to anaesthetize were 6 to > 12 hours and 8 to 10.15 hours for A. testudineus and C.  punctatus respectively; and death occurred 7 to > 13 hours in A. testudineus and 9 to 10.45 hours in C.  punctatus after treatment depending on the concentrations. The toxic effects were positively co-related with the concentrations and negatively co-related with the total weight of the fish, though the values of the coefficient of the correlations (r) were low. At the anaesthetic stage, the colour of skin, gills and eye were changed, the fishes showed irritated movement first (A. testudineus) and then became sluggish (both species), and instead of the normal fishy smell the fishes gave neem leaf like smell

Mobile Cell Data Structure Quality Improvement For User Positioning Purposes

    Get PDF
In wireless telephony networks, each cell is a geographical coverage area which can distribute frequency among cellular networks for different specific mobile network regions. Good cell and bad cell are used in the cellular network to identify the proper user position in a certain geographical area. The good cell is identified by assuming a maximum distance between latitude and longitude of two cell points with reasonable shape in a particular geographical area. The bad cell is identified while the cell shapes are become as irregular shape. However, mobile location accuracy is important for good cells data. Some cell data are not precise in shape to become good cells. Moreover, locations of handset are dependent for the accuracy of cell data shape. Most of the cases mobile operators are facing problem for the positioning purposes due to inaccuracy of the shape of cell data. The proper position accuracy of user is not visualized due to inaccuracy of cell data shape. The proposed system identifies the bad cell and repairs as good cell using visualize tool. An XML data file contains cell data information with longitude and latitude. A data base has been created to store the longitude and latitude of cell data in a standard format using PHP code. The visualize tool identify bad cell and good cell from the database. Furthermore, the tool converts the bad cell into good cell. Moreover, the tool can able to repair the cells which are not converted as good cell shape. The system can able to help to improve quality of user position accuracy for GSM and CDMA mobile operator

A Secure Medical Record Sharing Scheme Based on Blockchain and Two-fold Encryption

Usually, a medical record (MR) contains the patients disease-oriented sensitive information. In addition, the MR needs to be shared among different bodies, e.g., diagnostic centres, hospitals, physicians, etc. Hence, retaining the privacy and integrity of MR is crucial. A blockchain based secure MR sharing system can manage these aspects properly. This paper proposes a blockchain based electronic (e-) MR sharing scheme that (i) considers the medical image and the text as the input, (ii) enriches the data privacy through a two-fold encryption mechanism consisting of an asymmetric cryptosystem and the dynamic DNA encoding, (iii) assures data integrity by storing the encrypted e-MR in the distinct block designated for each user in the blockchain, and (iv) eventually, enables authorized entities to regain the e-MR through decryption. Preliminary evaluations, analyses, comparisons with state-of-the-art works, etc., imply the efficacy of the proposed scheme.Comment: 6 pages, 3 tables, 8 figures, ICCIT 202

Numerical investigation of the slope stability under the rainfall infiltration of different intensities and duration using finite element code

    Get PDF
This research presents a numerical analysis using the two-dimensional finite element code, PLAXIS 2D, to explore the impact of rainfall infiltration on slope stability through a fully coupled deformation flow analysis. In the numerical model, the soil is represented as an elastic-perfect plastic material, and its shear strength is modeled using the Mohr-Coulomb model. Using the 2D finite element method, the study explores the combined effects of varying rectilinear slope geometries, soil types, rainfall intensities, and durations on slope stability. Diverse slope configurations with significant variations in slope height and angle were considered. The results imply that the stability of the slope is significantly influenced by both the rainfall intensity and duration. Moreover, the influence of rainfall duration and intensity on slope stability is more pronounced for clayey soil and slopes with a steep angle. The findings of this study will provide guidelines to engineers in assessing the potential risk of slope failure under varying rainfall intensities and durations

    Get PDF
In this paper, a detailed comparison of a few numerical models (with and without considering humid air properties) for the estimation of water production from a solar water distillation device is investigated. An extensive laboratory production experiments were executed under fifteen sets of external conditions to find the properties of evaporation and condensation coefficients to incorporate with the present evaporation and condensation models (two unique and independent theoretical models), respectively. The calculation accuracy of the evaporation flux computed by two evaporation models (present and previous), Dunkle's and Ueda's model, and of the hourly condensation flux estimated by two condensation models (present and previous) was examined using the field experimental results. It was found that the previous evaporation and condensation models using empirical relationships extremely overestimated and underestimated the observed production flux, respectively. The evaporation flux calculated by the conventional models of Dunkle and Ueda notably underestimated and overestimated the observed values, respectively. Finally, it is revealed that the present models have the smallest deviation between the calculated and the observed values among these six models and can predict the daily production flux

Orange peel, sawdust and bagasse have been used as adsorbents for the removal of Cu(II) from aqueous solution. The effects of contact time, pH, concentration, dose and ionic strength on the removal of Cu(II) have been studied. Moreover, treated sawdust has been used as an adsorbent for the same. The equilibrium adsorption capacity of the adsorbents for Cu(II) was obtained by Langmuir isotherm. The ionic strength effect on the removal of Cu(II) from its aqueous solution indicated that the removal followed ion-exchange mechanism

Effective composting of oil palm industrial waste by filamentous fungi: A review.

    Get PDF
Palm oil production is a major agricultural industry in Malaysia, in which palm oil mill effluent (POME) and oil palm empty fruit bunch (EFB) are considered as major waste products from the palm oil industry. These waste products create an environmental hazard and entail high disposal costs every year. Composting is a biologically based process which is practiced to stabilize the organic matter for soil amendment (producing compost) and to protect the environment from the detrimental effects of these waste products. This study reviews the composting process of EFB and POME as a single substrate and/or their mixture by using potential filamentous fungi that are especially lignocellulolytic and antibiotic (in a matured stage) in nature within several effective parameters, for example, C/N ratio, moisture content, pH, temperature, etc. Several studies record the mature composting process as being 60 days. In most cases, temperature and moisture content was maintained up to 70 °C and 60–75%, respectively. In addition, this study reviews EFB and POME with their constituents for an efficient composting process
