EXAMINING THE EFFECT OF HIGH SEASONALITY ON FRONTLINE EMPLOYEES: A CASE STUDY OF FIVE STARS HOTELS IN AQABA

Get PDF
In recent times, the impact of seasonality on tourism industry has been recognized. There has been a distinct lack of studies that focus on the effects of high seasonality on front-line employees (the receptionist) in hotels. Therefore, this study attempted to address the importance of the receptionist job in high seasonality and the effect of high seasonality on them. To answer the questions of the study, an instrument was used for evaluation. Also, a questionnaire was addressed to both employees and managers. T-test, ANOVA, and multiple regressions were utilized to test the hypotheses. The findings of the study revealed that the high seasonality in hotels has effects on the receptionists regarding miscommunication and bad relation with others during work hours. Therefore, this study has several recommendations for both the managers and the enterprises

Mixed Effects of Deep Brain Stimulation on Depressive Symptomatology in Parkinson’s Disease: A Review of Randomized Clinical Trials

Although ~50% of patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD) experience depression, treatment for this important and debilitating comorbidity is relatively understudied. Deep brain stimulation (DBS) has been increasingly utilized for the management of tremors in progressive PD. Several preliminary studies have shown the potential benefit of DBS for non-motor PD symptoms such as depression. Here, we critically evaluate seven recent randomized clinical trials of the effectiveness of DBS in reducing depressive symptomatology among individuals with PD. Findings are mixed for the effectiveness of DBS as a treatment for depression in PD. Our review suggests that this is due, in large part, to the anatomical and methodological variation across the DBS studies. We provide a comprehensive discussion of these variations and highlight the need to conduct larger, more controlled studies aimed specifically at evaluating the treatment of depression in PD patients

Octonionization of three player, two strategy maximally entangled quantum games

We develop an octonionic representation of the payoff function for three player, two strategy, maximally entangled quantum games in order to obtain computationally friendly version of this function. This computational capability is then exploited to analyze and potentially classify the Nash equilibria in the quantum games

Automated brain tumour identification using magnetic resonance imaging:a systematic review and meta-analysis

BACKGROUND: Automated brain tumor identification facilitates diagnosis and treatment planning. We evaluate the performance of traditional machine learning (TML) and deep learning (DL) in brain tumor detection and segmentation, using MRI. METHODS: A systematic literature search from January 2000 to May 8, 2021 was conducted. Study quality was assessed using the Checklist for Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging (CLAIM). Detection meta-analysis was performed using a unified hierarchical model. Segmentation studies were evaluated using a random effects model. Sensitivity analysis was performed for externally validated studies. RESULTS: Of 224 studies included in the systematic review, 46 segmentation and 38 detection studies were eligible for meta-analysis. In detection, DL achieved a lower false positive rate compared to TML; 0.018 (95% CI, 0.011 to 0.028) and 0.048 (0.032 to 0.072) (P < .001), respectively. In segmentation, DL had a higher dice similarity coefficient (DSC), particularly for tumor core (TC); 0.80 (0.77 to 0.83) and 0.63 (0.56 to 0.71) (P < .001), persisting on sensitivity analysis. Both manual and automated whole tumor (WT) segmentation had “good” (DSC ≥ 0.70) performance. Manual TC segmentation was superior to automated; 0.78 (0.69 to 0.86) and 0.64 (0.53 to 0.74) (P = .014), respectively. Only 30% of studies reported external validation. CONCLUSIONS: The comparable performance of automated to manual WT segmentation supports its integration into clinical practice. However, manual outperformance for sub-compartmental segmentation highlights the need for further development of automated methods in this area. Compared to TML, DL provided superior performance for detection and sub-compartmental segmentation. Improvements in the quality and design of studies, including external validation, are required for the interpretability and generalizability of automated models

Role of Stem Cells in Orthopaedic Surgery: Theoretical Survey

Get PDF
This study aims at analyzing the Stem cell application is a burgeoning field of medicine that is likely to influence the future of orthopaedic surgery. Stem cells are associated with great promise and great controversy. For the orthopaedic surgeon, stem cells may change the way that orthopaedic surgery is practiced and the overall approach of the treatment of musculoskeletal disease. Stem cells may change the field of orthopaedics from a field dominated by surgical replacements and reconstructions to a field of regeneration and prevention. This review will introduce the basic concepts of stem cells pertinent to the orthopaedic surgeon and proceed with a more in depth discussion of current developments in the study of stem cells in orthopaedic surgery. Keywords: Stem cell, orthopaedic, surgery

Pediatric Dermatology In Family Medicine: Common Conditions And Management Strategies

Get PDF
Among the most prevalent disorders are those related to the skin. However, in medical education and training, this class of illnesses is frequently disregarded. The first line of defence for the treatment of common dermatological diseases is a family physician. The purpose of our study was to evaluate the particular identification, management, encountering, and referral practices related to dermatological illnesses in family care. We also looked into the challenges and opportunities that family doctors experience in family medicine and saw a few of the paediatric dermatological diseases that family doctors may encounter. Finding areas of weakness in the clinical therapy of certain dermatological disorders, however, will be aided by assessing how family doctors treat particular ailments. Thus, this needs assessment might serve as a foundation for future research on the efficacy of family medicine in treating common paediatric dermatological problems as well as aid in the development of evidence-based training for family physicians in the area

This qualitative study aimed to diagnose the challenges facing teachers of the (A2) program for the Arabic language in developing 21st century learning skills among students of the Arabic language in Comoros high schools. The 21st century imposes an interest in acquiring students the skills that can help them solve their learning problems, prepare for work and live in this 21st century, the ability to innovate, innovate and collaborate in their practices rather than compete, and to be able to adapt to the rapid technological change and development of a modern society. This research dealt with semi-organized personal interviews from six teachers for this program in one of the islands, and the researcher interviewed them one by one. The content of the interviews was analyzed, and the topics were extracted. This research is divided into two sections. The first section deals with the effects that impede the application of 21st century learning skills among Arabic language students from the teachers' point of view. Administratively, there is a problem in the curriculum and teaching methods, weak response of students towards learning the Arabic language, while the second section deals with the suggestions of teachers on how to develop the application of skills among students of the Arabic language from the perspective of teachers which are: Raising interest in Arabic (2) Providing modern teaching aids (3) Raising students' desire towards learning Arabic
