Scalable and Cost Efficient Algorithms for Virtual CDN Migration

Virtual Content Delivery Network (vCDN) migration is necessary to optimize the use of resources and improve the performance of the overall SDN/NFV-based CDN function in terms of network operator cost reduction and high streaming quality. It requires intelligent and enticed joint SDN/NFV migration algorithms due to the evident huge amount of traffic to be delivered to end customers of the network. In this paper, two approaches for finding the optimal and near optimal path placement(s) and vCDN migration(s) are proposed (OPAC and HPAC). Moreover, several scenarios are considered to quantify the OPAC and HPAC behaviors and to compare their efficiency in terms of migration cost, migration time, vCDN replication number, and other cost factors. Then, they are implemented and evaluated under different network scales. Finally, the proposed algorithms are integrated in an SDN/NFV framework. Index Terms: vCDN; SDN/NFV Optimization; Migration Algorithms; Scalability Algorithms.Comment: 9 pages, 11 figures, 4 tableaux, conference Local Computer Networks (LCN), class

This study utilised a descriptive research methodology to determine the leadership styles of primary school headteachers in Riyadh City and their relationship with pupils' achievement. Following a review of the literature, questions were generated as follows:1. Is there a relationship between the number of years of experience of the headteacher and his educational level (qualification of the headteacher)?2. Is there a relationship between the educational level (qualification of the headteacher) and school size (number of pupils in school)?3. Is there a relationship between school size and experience of the headteacher?4. Is there a relationship between the educational level (qualification) of the headteacher and the achievement of pupils?5. Is there a relationship between the experience of the headteacher and the achievement of the pupils?6. Is there a relationship between school size (number of pupils in school) and pupil achievement?7. Is there a relationship between the educational level (qualification) and the style of the headteacher in leading the school?8. Is there a relationship between the experience of the headteacher and his style in leading the school?9. Is there a relationship between the school size and the style of the headteacher in leading the school?10. Is there a relationship between the achievement of the pupils and the style of the headteacher in leading the school? Pfeiffer and Jones' (1972) adaptation of the Leader Behaviour Descriptive Questionnaire (LBDQ) was used. The findings of the study revealed three administrative styles: Spokesman and Manager, Striving for Achievement and Professionalism, and Autocratic. These three styles are predominant in primary schools in Riyadh. They do not have a link with pupil achievement, but there was a relationship between the qualification of the headteacher and the achievement of pupils and also the experience of the headteacher and pupil achievement. No evidence was found to suggest that any other relationships existed. The study supports the need for qualifications and experience and other general criteria to be taken into consideration when selecting school headteachers, and formal training to be given prior to becoming primary school headteachers. With all this in mind, it should be noted that in measuring pupil achievement, we cannot take the headteacher's leadership style for granted

Comparison between Giemsa and Van Geison stains in demonstration of collagen fibers (Kosti-2016)

    Get PDF
Trichrome stain (such as Van Geison) is usually used in histopathology laboratory for demonstration of collagenic fibers. Lack of selectivity and tendency of stain to fade makes van Gieson not ideal for collagen demonstration. This study was aimed to compare between Giemsa's and van Gieson's stains in collagen fibers  demonstration. Twenty biopsies were obtained from rabbit’s skin after anesthesia by chloroform and immediately fixed by 10% neutral buffered formalin for 48 h. Then samples were processed using tissue processing machine and sectioned by rotary microtome. Two hundred (200) tissue sections of 5 micron thickness were prepared. A 100 tissue sections was stained by Van Geison and another 100 tissue sections stained by Giemsa. The stained section was compared with illustrated photomicrographs in order to assess staining quality. Best collagen staining quality was obtained by Van Geison's 60 (60%) and 40 (40%), mean 1.40, followed by Giemsa's stain excellent 55 (55%) and good 45 (45%), mean 1.45. Conclusively, Van Geison's is superior but Giemsa stain is rapid, sensitive without fading tendency, easy to perform and low cost and can be used as special stain under optimized conditions.Key words: Collagen, Giemsa, Van Geison

Supporting the research approach, the study followed both quantitative and qualitative instrument for better understanding of the research problem. First an open-ended questionnaire was supplied for 160 students from different institutes and departments of University of Dhaka, followed by six semi-structured interview with the teachers and finally a FGD was also conducted with students. The study reveals that most of the students and teachers are familiar with blogs. Both teachers and students expressed that they can perceive the intensifying role of blog in teaching –learning process. In addition to this, students find Blogs as a trendy digital platform to exchange views through collaboration with teachers. Teachers perceived a positive view on it pointing that genuine blogs can help to develop creative platform for transferring contemporary views although their use of blog is not satisfactory. Different factors like inauthenticity of sources, inaccessibility to internet, unpreparedness and unwillingness of senior teachers to use blogs have been identified as challenges of using blogs in education arena. Get PDF
Once upon a time, Jute was called the golden fibre of Bangladesh. Due to some problems and growth of modern technology, the market share of jute has decreased. In this paper, the effect of Woolenization of jute fibre was described. It also shows how the physical and chemical properties of jute have been changed by alkali-treatment as well as its structure. It was demonstrated that this kind of treatment leads to several changes in its structure which has turned to a near wool structure. These works are done by different concentrations of different alkalis. Finally, 15% NaOH treatment of jute show maximum woolenized properties where we obtain softened and swollen jute. Conclusively, we have made some other products from woolenized jute fibres such that if introduced into our world market, it can increase the market share of jute fibre
