On the fermionic T-duality of the AdS_4 \times CP^3 sigma-model
In this note we consider a fermionic T-duality of the coset realization of
the type IIA sigma-model on AdS_4 \times CP^3 with respect to the three flat
directions in AdS_4, six of the fermionic coordinates and three of the CP^3
directions. We show that the Buscher procedure fails as it leads to a singular
transformation and discuss the result and its implications.Comment: LaTeX2e, 9 pages, no figures, JHEP style; v2: minor clarifications;

Fermionic T-duality in the pp-wave limit
AdS5 X S5 and its pp-wave limit are self-dual under transformations involving
eight fermionic T-dualities, a property which accounts for symmetries seen in
scattering amplitudes in N=4 super-Yang-Mills. Despite strong evidence for
similar symmetries in the amplitudes of three-dimensional N=6 ABJM theory, a
corresponding self-duality in the dual geometry AdS4 X CP3 currently eludes us.
Here, working with the type IIA pp-wave limit of AdS4 X CP3 preserving twenty
four supercharges, we show that the pp-wave is self-dual with respect to eight
commuting fermionic T-dualities and not the six expected. In addition, we show
the same symmetry can be found in a superposition pp-wave and a generic pp-wave
with twenty and sixteen unbroken supersymmetries respectively, strongly
suggesting that self-duality under fermionic T-duality may be a symmetry of all
pp-waves.Comment: 21 pages, typos fixe
More on integrable structures of superstrings in AdS(4) x CP(3) and AdS(2) x S(2) x T(6) superbackgrounds
In this paper we continue the study, initiated in arXiv:1009.3498 and
arXiv:1104.1793, of the classical integrability of Green-Schwarz superstrings
in AdS(4) x CP(3) and AdS(2) x S(2) x T(6) superbackgrounds whose spectrum
contains non-supercoset worldsheet degrees of freedom corresponding to broken
supersymmetries in the bulk. We derive an explicit expression, to all orders in
the coset fermions and to second order in the non-coset fermions, which extends
the supercoset Lax connection in these backgrounds with terms depending on the
non-coset fermions. An important property of the obtained form of the Lax
connection is that it is invariant under Z_4-transformations of the
superisometry generators and the spectral parameter. This demonstrates that the
contribution of the non-coset fermions does not spoil the Z_4-symmetry of the
super-coset Lax connection which is of crucial importance for the application
of Bethe-ansatz techniques. The expressions describing the AdS(4) x CP(3) and
AdS(2) x S(2) x T(6) superstring sigma--models and their Lax connections have a
very similar form. This is because their amount of target-space supersymmetries
complement each other to 32=24+8, the maximal number of 10d type II
supersymmetries. As a byproduct, this similarity has allowed us to obtain the
form of the geometry of the complete type IIA AdS(2) x S(2) x T(6) superspace
to all orders in the coset fermions and to the second order in the non-coset
ones.Comment: 28 pages; v2: References adde
Fatigue assessment of steel riveted railway bridges: Full-scale tests and analytical approach
[EN] This paper describes a double experimental and analytical study of the fatigue behaviour of the Quisi and Ferrandet Bridges, twin 170 m long steel railway bridges constructed between 1913 and 1915 with typical Pratt truss structures and riveted connections. These bridges are part of the Spanish national railway network connecting the towns of Alicante and Denia, one of the key networks in the Valencia Region (Spain). The experimental laboratory investigation involved fatigue testing in one of the ICITECH laboratories at the Universitat Politècnica de València of: (i) a full-scale bridge span and (ii) an upper cross beamfromthe Ferrandet Bridge. During the tests, Linear Variable Displacement Transducers (LVDTs) and Strain Gauge (SG) sensorswere used to capture the possible nucleation and propagation of fatigue cracks. Fatigue test carried out on the cross beam identified: (i) fatigue life of the critical detail, (ii) fatigue hot-spots along the cross beam and (iii) strain redistribution along the riveted element during crack growth. The experimental results from the full-scale bridge were adopted to calibrate an elastic numerical model of the whole structure, which was in turn used to estimate the Quisi Bridge's remaining fatigue life. The definition of the class of detail and remaining fatigue lifewere calculated by the SÂżN curvesmethod, according to Eurocode 3, considering the available information on the bridges' loading histories.Bertolesi, E.; Buitrago, M.; Adam, JM.; CalderĂłn GarcĂa, PA. Over-the-Counter Analgesic Use Patterns in Appalachian Older Adults, Focusing on Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs
Introduction
Over-the-counter (OTC) medications are commonly used by elderly patients to self-manage pain symptoms. Medications such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), acetaminophen and topical analgesics are readily available and therefore may seem harmless to patients. In the growing population of those 65 years and older, providers need to inquire about OTC medication use due to the increased risk for adverse reactions in this population. Complications related to these medications can be worsened by chronic disease, variable metabolism, polypharmacy, etc. which become more common in the older adults.
Methods
A survey was created to determine the prevalence and habits of OTC use in the central Appalachian population, as well as the potential harms involved related to provider awareness, chronic disease, and polypharmacy.
Results
Of surveyed Appalachian seniors (n = 307), 86.3% take OTC medications. Of these, 57.4% report that they do not tell their provider and 51.3% do not take the medication as directed. Within this population, 19.2% of those on blood thinners, 22.4% of those with hypertension, 34.8% of those with chronic kidney disease, and 30.6% of those with gastrointestinal issues are not only using NSAIDs but also do not inform their physician nor follow the packaging instructions.
Discussion
Potential complications of NSAID use related to these medical comorbidities are well known. Providers need to regularly ask their older adult patients about the use of OTC medication to prevent adverse events in this vulnerable population

From Correlators to Wilson Loops in Chern-Simons Matter Theories
We study n-point correlation functions for chiral primary operators in three
dimensional supersymmetric Chern-Simons matter theories. Our analysis is
carried on in N=2 superspace and covers N=2,3 supersymmetric CFT's, the N=6
ABJM and the N=8 BLG models. In the limit where the positions of adjacent
operators become light-like, we find that the one-loop n-point correlator
divided by its tree level expression coincides with a light-like n-polygon
Wilson loop. Remarkably, the result can be simply expressed as a linear
combination of five dimensional two-mass easy boxes. We manage to evaluate the
integrals analytically and find a vanishing result, in agreement with previous
findings for Wilson loops.Comment: 32 pages, 6 figures, JHEP
Self-duality of the D1-D5 near-horizon
We explore fermionic T-duality and self-duality in the geometry AdS3 x S3 x
T4 in type IIB supergravity. We explicitly construct the Killing spinors and
the fermionic T-duality isometries and show that the geometry is self-dual
under a combination of two bosonic AdS3 T-dualities, four fermionic T-dualities
and either two additional T-dualities along T4 or two T-dualities along S3. In
addition, we show that the presence of a B-field acts as an obstacle to
self-duality, a property attributable to S- duality and fermionic T-duality not
commuting. Finally, we argue that fermionic T-duality may be extended to CY2 =
K3, a setting where we cannot explicitly construct the Killing spinors.Comment: 24 pages, references added, changes made to reinforce the point that

Evidence for the classical integrability of the complete AdS(4) x CP(3) superstring
We construct a zero-curvature Lax connection in a sub-sector of the
superstring theory on AdS(4) x CP(3) which is not described by the
OSp(6|4)/U(3) x SO(1,3) supercoset sigma-model. In this sub-sector worldsheet
fermions associated to eight broken supersymmetries of the type IIA background
are physical fields. As such, the prescription for the construction of the Lax
connection based on the Z_4-automorphism of the isometry superalgebra OSp(6|4)
does not do the job. So, to construct the Lax connection we have used an
alternative method which nevertheless relies on the isometry of the target
superspace and kappa-symmetry of the Green-Schwarz superstring.Comment: 1+26 pages; v2: minor typos corrected, acknowledgements adde
