La página web de la previsora como desventaja competitiva frente a las aseguradoras colombianas

El documento está organizado en cinco capítulos así: el primer capítulo introduce la definición del canal de distribución y el comercio electrónico. El segundo se centra en conocer las generalidades del sector asegurador colombiano. El tercero está enfocado en la reseña histórica de la Previsora Seguros y su evolución en canales de distribución. El cuarto, analiza algunos sitios web de las principales compañías aseguradoras en Colombia, lo cual permitió conocer el enfoque y uso de sus sitos en Internet, además de identificar como hasta hoy la principal función que ejercen estos sitios es ser una vitrina de información de productos y servicios, existiendo escaso desarrollo de los mercados electrónicos de seguros, y muy pocos elementos que permitan la atención integral de los clientes a través de este canal. Finalmente está el capítulo de conclusiones y recomendaciones para que la página web de la Previsora Seguros se convierta en un canal de distribución competitivo frente al mercado y las demás aseguradoras, generando de esta manera valor agrado a la empresa y al cliente fina

Cross-neutralization of the coagulant activity of Crotalus durissus terrificus venom from the northeast of Argentina by bivalent bothropic antivenom

Cross-neutralization of Crotalus durissus terrificus venom coagulant activity was tested using bivalent horse antivenom against Bothrops alternatus and Bothrops diporus venoms. Our in vitro and in vivo experiments showed that bothropic antivenom neutralizes the thrombin-like activity of crotalic snake venom and this cross-reaction was demonstrated by immunoassays either with whole venom or a purified thrombin-like enzyme. These results suggest common antigenic properties and, consequently, similar molecular structure among venom thrombin-like enzymes. ASIC-in-the-loop methodology for verification of piecewise affine controllers

This paper exposes a hardware-in-the-loop metho- dology to verify the performance of a programmable and confi- gurable application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) that imple- ments piecewise affine (PWA) controllers. The ASIC inserted into a printed circuit board (PCB) is connected to a logic analyzer that generates the input patterns to the ASIC (in particular, the values to program the memories, configuration parameters, and values of the input signals). The output provided by the ASIC is also taken by the logic analyzer. La permacultura, una alternativa en la producción de alimentos desde la escuela y la comunidad

One of the performances high-priority collections in the Calendar 21 are the reorientation of the education toward a sustainable development; he/she intends, in this sense that is helped to the schools to design plans related with the environment very integrated in their study plans. These directive ones serve as mark for contextualizar the present project in the one that, observing the thematic axes of the permacultura and using as central axis that of the production of foods that can be implemented and maintained with minimum resources, and in coordination with the group Ecomujer of Germany, is sought to link the primary school of group with the community to actions of use of the water rain for the production of foods in a school orchard of vegetables, medicinal plants, as well as an area of fruit-bearing in the primary school Eberto Polanco of the Popular Council of New Town of the municipality of Consolation of the South and this way to contribute to the population's alimentary education from the school and the community, being achieved the reorientation of the education toward the sustainable development, by means of the design and execution of plans of actions related with the environment and the alimentary culture and integrated to the effective study plans.Una de las actuaciones prioritarias recogidas en la Agenda 21 es la reorientación de la educación hacia un desarrollo sostenible; se propone, en este sentido, que se ayude a las escuelas a diseñar planes relacionados con el medio ambiente bien integrado en sus planes de estudio. Deep Phenotypic Characterisation of CTCs by Combination of Microfluidic Isolation (IsoFlux) and Imaging Flow Cytometry (ImageStream)

Carmen Garrido-Navas has a postdoctoral fellowship funded by the Ministry of Economy, Competitiveness, Enterprises and Universities (DOC_01682).The isolation of circulating tumour cells (CTCs) in colorectal cancer (CRC) mostly relies on the expression of epithelial markers such as EpCAM, and phenotypic characterisation is usually performed under fluorescence microscopy with only one or two additional markers. This limits the ability to detect different CTC subpopulations based on multiple markers. The aim of this work was to develop a novel protocol combining two platforms (IsoFluxTM and ImageStream®X) to improve CTC evaluation. Cancer cell lines and peripheral blood from healthy donors were used to evaluate the efficiency of each platform independently and in combination. Peripheral blood was extracted from 16 early CRC patients (before loco-regional surgery) to demonstrate the suitability of the protocol for CTC assessment. Additionally, peripheral blood was extracted from nine patients one month after surgery to validate the utility of our protocol for identifying CTC subpopulation changes over time. Results: Our protocol had a mean recovery efficiency of 69.5% and a limit of detection of at least four cells per millilitre. We developed an analysis method to reduce noise from magnetic beads used for CTC isolation. CTCs were isolated from CRC patients with a median of 37 CTCs (IQ 13.0–85.5) at baseline. CTCs from CRC patients were significantly (p < 0.0001) larger than cytokeratin (CK)-negative cells, and patients were stratified into two groups based on BRAFV600E and PD-L1 expression on CK-positive cells. The changes observed over time included not only the number of CTCs but also their distribution into four different subpopulations defined according to BRAFV600E and PD-L1 positivity. We developed a novel protocol for semi-automatic CTC isolation and phenotypic characterisation by combining two platforms. Impacto de un programa de salud sobre perfil metabólico y autoconcepto en adolescentes con obesidad

n. Se analizó el impacto de un programa de salud para adolescentes con problema de obesidad. La intervención duró 14 semanas, consistió en tres condiciones (control, experimental y experimental con fototerapia) y los indicadores fueron medidas del perfil metabólico y cinco dimensiones del autoconcepto (Inventario de autoconcepto forma AF-5). Diseño cuasi-experimental con mediciones pre-post. La condición de control únicamente fue evaluada en dos ocasiones. Un grupo experimental recibió orientación nutricional y realizó actividad física (bicomponente). El segundo grupo experimental recibió, además, sesiones de fototerapia. Se analizaron las diferencias basales (pretest) encontrando diferencias entre las tres condiciones en triglicéridos y autoconcepto familiar. Los resultados finales indicaron que la administración de orientación nutricional, actividad física y fototerapia se relacionó con mejoras en el pliegue tricipital, triglicéridos y glicemia (p < .05). La administración de cualquiera de las condiciones experimentales, incluyeran o no fototerapia, se correspondía con mejor autoconcepto social respecto del grupo de control. Se concluye que la participación en un programa de salud que incluye orientación nutricional y actividad física puede producir en corto plazo cambios en la distribución de la adiposidad y el autoconcepto social en adolescentes con obesidad

Asociación entre fuerza de prensión manual y bienestar en mujeres con fibromialgia

La fibromialgia es una enfermedad caracterizada por una sintomatología compleja con presencia de dolor crónico generalizado junto con otros síntomas incapacitantes como fatiga y problemas de memoria. Como consecuencia, suelen verse deteriorados sus niveles de bienestar. Por lo tanto, es necesario encontrar factores modificables mediante terapia para mejorar el bienestar en la fibromialgia. En esta población, la fuerza de prensión manual es un conocido marcador relevante de salud física, pero se desconoce si también lo es de salud psicológica. Objetivo. Analizar la asociación entre los niveles de fuerza de prensión manual con el bienestar subjetivo en mujeres con fibromialgia. Métodos. Este estudio transversal incluyó a 465 mujeres pertenecientes a pertenecientes a la Comunidad de Andalucía (España). La fuerza se midió a través del test de prensión manual. Las dos dimensiones (i.e., afectiva y cognitiva) del bienestar subjetivo se midieron con cuestionarios, Positive and Negative Affect Scale (PANAS) para el afecto positivo y negativo y Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) para la satisfacción con la vida. La asociación de la fuerza de prensión manual con estas dimensiones se analizó mediante regresiones lineales ajustadas por la edad y el consumo de medicamentos. Resultados. Mayores niveles de fuerza se asociaron con mayor afecto positivo (p<0,001), menor afecto negativo (p<0,001) y mayor satisfacción con la vida (p<0,05). Conclusión. En una muestra representativa de la población andaluza de mujeres con fibromialgia, este estudio ha identificado que los niveles de fuerza están positivamente asociados con puntuaciones más favorables de bienestar subjetivo (i.e., afecto positivo, afecto negativo y satisfacción con la vida). En general, la fuerza de estas asociaciones fue débil. Para esclarecer la causalidad de nuestros hallazgos se requieren futuros estudios longitudinales y experimentales

PD-L1+ Regulatory B Cells Are Significantly Decreased in Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients and Increase After Successful Treatment

Background: B cells play an important role in the development and maintenance of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Although IL-10–producing B cells represent a major subset of regulatory B cells (Bregs) able to suppress autoimmune and inflammatory responses, recent reports showed that B cell-mediated immune suppression may also occur independent of IL-10. For instance, B cells can modulate T cell immune responses through the expression of regulatory molecules such as PD-L1. So far, PD-L1-expressing B cells have not been analyzed in RA patients.Objective: To analyze the frequency of PD-L1-expressing B cells in the peripheral blood of RA patients compared to healthy controls (HC) matched for sex and age, their function on T cell response and their changes in response to therapy.Methods: Fresh peripheral blood B cells from RA patients and HC were characterized by flow cytometry and their functionality assessed in a co-culture system with autologous T cells.Results: The frequencies of CD19+PD-L1+ B cells, CD24hiCD38−PD-L1+ and CD24hiCD38hiPD-L1+ B cells were significantly lower in untreated RA patients than in HC. In a follow-up study, the frequencies of PD-L1+ B cells (CD19+PD-L1+ B cells, CD24hiCD38−PD-L1+ and CD24hiCD38hiPD-L1+ B cells) increased significantly after treatment in good responder patients, although the frequency of total CD24hiCD38hi B cells decreased. CD19+ B cells from untreated RA patients and HC upregulated PD-L1 expression similarly upon stimulation with CpG plus IL-2 and were able to suppress, in vitro, CD8+ T cell proliferation and cytokine production in a PD-L1-dependent manner.Conclusions: Our results show that PD-L1+ B cells exhibiting T cell suppressive capacity are significantly decreased in untreated RA patients but increase in response to successful treatment. PD-L1 expression on B cells from RA patients can be modulated in vitro and PD-L1+ B cells could thus provide new perspectives for future treatment strategies

Effectiveness of interventions to improve adherence to antidepressant medication in patients with depressive disorders: a cluster randomized controlled trial

AimTo assess the effectiveness of two interventions of knowledge transfer and behavior modification to improve medication adherence in patients with depressive disorders.MethodsAn open, multicenter, three-arm clinical trial with random allocation by cluster to usual care or to one of the two interventions. The intervention for psychiatrists (PsI) included an educational program based on a patient-centered care model. The intervention for patients and relatives (PtI) included a collaborative care program plus a reminder system that works using an already available medication reminder application. The primary outcome was patient adherence to antidepressant treatment assessed through the Sidorkiewicz Adherence Instrument. Secondary measures were depression severity, comorbid anxiety and health-related quality of life. Mixed regression models with repeated measures were used for data analysis.ResultsTen psychiatrists and 150 patients diagnosed with depressive disorder from eight Community Mental Health Units in the Canary Islands (Spain) were included. Compared with usual care, no differences in long-term adherence were observed in either group PsI or PtI. The PsI group had significantly improved depression symptoms (B = −0.39; 95%CI: −0.65, −0.12; p = 0.004) during the follow-up period. The PtI group presented improved depression symptoms (B = −0.63; 95%CI: −0.96, −0.30; p &lt; 0.001) and mental quality of life (B = 0.08; 95%CI: 0.004, 0.15; p = 0.039) during the follow-up period.ConclusionThe assessed interventions to improve adherence in patients with depressive disorder were effective for depression symptoms and mental quality of life, even over the long term. However, no effect on antidepressant adherence was observed
