Testicular Morphometry and Sperm Quality of Rabbit Bucks Fed Graded Levels of Moringa oleifera Leaf Meal (MOLM).
In developing nations, Moringa oleifera leaves are used for their nutritional and medicinal values and are rich in minerals and vitamins. Twenty rabbit bucks of mixed breeds, aged four to five weeks which weighed between 627.4g to 631.5g were used to evaluate the effect of Moringa oleifera leaf meal (MOLM) on testicular morphometry and sperm quality. Five bucks were randomly assigned to each of the four diets containing MOLM at 0%. 5%, 10% and 15% levels of inclusion. After eight weeks of ad libitum feeding, the bucks were sacrificed and evaluated for testicular morphometry and epididymal sperm characteristics. No significant effect (p > 0.05) of diets was observed on all the parameters studied. The results show that MOLM had no adverse effect on the testicular morphometry and epididymal sperm quality of rabbit bucks at inclusion level of up to 15%. It is suggested that Moringa oleifera leaves could be used in rabbit diets. Keywords: Moringa oleifera, rabbit, sperm quality and testicular morphometry
Effect of exogenous progesterone on oestrus response of West African Dwarf (WAD) goats
Twenty-four (24) healthy, parous West African dwarf (WAD) does aged 2 – 3 years were used to study the effects of varying doses of progesterone on oestrus synchronization and plasma progesteronelevels. The does were randomly assigned to 4 treatment groups consisting of 12.5, 25.0 and 37.5 mg progesterone treatments and 1.0 ml physiological saline as the control. The animals were monitored forsigns of oestrus during and after the treatment. Blood samples collection from each treatment groups on days 7 and 14 of progesterone treatment were used for serum progesterone evaluation. The results showed that the number of oestrus goats, percentage oestrus goats and oestrous cycle length were similar between the control and goats on 12.5 mg progesterone injection. The does treated with 12.5 mg progesterone showed longer oestrus duration that differed significantly (P 0.05) in intensity of heat between the treatment groups. Although higher serum progesterone levels were observed in goats treated with 37.5 mg progesterone, 12.5 mg was more effective in producing heat atthe withdrawal of progesterone treatment. The results of this study indicate that progesterone injection would be effective in synchronizing heat in WAD goats
Nursing student caring behaviours: a systematic review
Caring is central to nursing and requires scientific professional skills and knowledge. Numerous definitions highlight the fact that there is a range of perspectives regarding the caring behaviors. The purpose of this study was to provide a summary of caring behaviors among nursing students in order to depict a more comprehensive view, which could be used as foundational data for the argument that cultivating caring behaviors should be an early focus of the nursing curriculum. Article selection was guided by the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) Statements. Literature searches were conducted in June 21, 2022 in PubMed, cumulative index to nursing and allied health (CINAHL), and (OVID). The following search blocks were generated: nursing students, caring behavior, and education. About 318 were found using primary search descriptors and 19 studies were included in the review. All research was published between 2016 and 2020. The majority of studies were conducted using a cross-sectional design, two studies used prospective, and one study used a retrospective design. The caring behavior of nursing students varies depending on the country and instrument used, ranging from a moderate score to a high score, and varies from one study year to the next. The most dominant caring behavior domains reported are the domains of instrumental caring/physical caring and expressive caring/emotional caring. This study adds to the existing literature on nursing care and explains the universality of the concept of care from multiple theoretical perspectives. Caring interventions should be used to help students develop clinically-relevant caring behaviors
Aqueous ethanolic extract of Cochlospermum planchonii rhizome enhances spermatogenesis in male albino rats
Cochlospermum planchonii has numerous therapeutic benefits and is widely used in folklore medicine of many African countries. This study was designed to investigate the effects of aqueous ethanolic extract of Cochlospermum planchonii root on sperm characteristics of albino rats. Animals were assigned into four groups comprising a control, which received only distilled water and treatment groups at the doses of 100, 200 and 400 mg/kg body weight daily for 30 days, respectively. The aqueous ethanolic extract of C. planchonii did significantly increase (P<0.05) the weights of the testes and accessory sex organs. Sperm count and sperm motility of rats given the extract increased (P<0.05) relative to the control. Percentages of abnormal sperm cells remained unchanged. The results of this study indicate that aqueous ethanolic extract of Cochlospermum planchonii increased spermatogenesis in the male rats. Keywords: Cochlospermum planchonii, sperm characteristics, reproduction, Wistar rat
mengumpulkan pandangan mereka mengenai strategi pemasaran kempen anti-merokok.
Panoramic Mapping of Urban Social Sustainability: A 35-Year Bibliometric and Visualization Analysis
In recent years, ensuring social sustainability has been a global concern for sustainable urban development in both the academic arena and sustainability science. Many studies have been conducted in this area, but a bibliometric analysis has not yet been done previously. This study identified research streams and research hotspots in the urban social sustainability field based on a bibliometric analysis from 1985 to 2020, involving 1,623 documents from the Web of Science database. We used two software packages, Bibliometrix (Biblioshiny) and VOSviewer, for performance and science mapping analysis. The result showed that this research field is growing fast in multiple disciplines. In the publication trend analysis, we found significant changes since 2015. Analysis of leading countries and institutions revealed that developed countries are performing better than developing countries in producing publications on urban social sustainability. In the content analysis, we selected 214 documents and found that the survey method was the most used. Additionally, we found that 13.08 percent of papers (28 out of 214) used as many as 21 different theories, where ‘stakeholder theory,’ ‘planning theory,’ ‘theory of urbanism as a way of life,’ and ‘theory of good city form’ were significantly used. The findings of this study can assist researchers and practitioners by providing valuable insights into the research area of urban social sustainability
An Examination of the No Child Left Behind Act
In an effort to provide a highly skilled future workforce and assure a fair and just education for all, the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 was enacted. This thesis project is an analytical review of the history and implementation of this controversial law and its impact on the educational system in America. Since the NCLB is a re-authorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, discussion includes the origins of the legislation, its benefits and challenges, as well as suggestions for improvement of this educational concept. Because of the proximity of this research to the 2008 US presidential campaign, a section of the project is devoted to the perspectives and opinions of presidential candidates, specifically, Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton, on the Democrat side, and Mike Huckabee and John McCain, on the Republican. Conclusions drawn from this research project suggest the noble intentions of the NCLB legislation are challenging to apply in reality, that amendments to the law need consideration, and that the end goal of a fair and just education is worthy of the efforts required
