The main aim of this study was to assess the needs of the homeless in temporary hostel accommodation people in Bloomsbury Health District for mental health services. The central question of this assessment was whether the need is for institutional or community care services. Current literature suggests that a high proportion of the homeless are victims of deinstitutionalisation and hinted at their need for institutional treatment. The study aim was achieved by: (a) Comparing the records of homeless and the home-based clients of the CPNs in their problems and care. (b) Comparing a random sample from homeless peoples' hostels with a sample from the chronic psychiatric patients of a community psychiatric service, (c) Undertaking a cross-cultural comparison of the care provided to homeless people in London and New York. The main results of this study showed that the majority of needs of homeless people for mental health services is related to their poverty and homelessness. Nevertheless homeless people with chronic mental illness have many unmet needs that make them disturbed and visible to the general public. The services needed by homeless people to meet their mental health needs should be community-based with a specialist role to work with them in their residential settings. Their need is for a multi-disiplinary service that can incorporate psychiatric, social and substance abuse services

This paper will explore the existence of the contract has a crucial role in Islamic financial transactions with a number of implications posed. One of that in Islam there is freedom to determine the contract with all the terms and forms of contract desired by the parties, provided that the contract is voluntary and is not included in the prohibition of sharia\u27. On this basis, the core of the contract which is carried out in Islam is to create benefits for the parties to the agreement for an Islamic financial transactions

A Reflection and Relevance of Lectures and Organizational Performance in The Pandemic Time Covid-19

This study aims to determine the effect of lecturer competence and commitment on their teaching performance during the Covid-19 pandemic which was remotely (online) carried out through the e-learning website. The respondents were 80 permanent lecturers of the faculty of teacher training and education. A quantitative approach with ex post facto study design and path analysis with SPSS v.21 was used. The results showed that the competence variable had a higher influence of 14.5% while commitment was 7.8%. Therefore, 30.9% determined their teaching performance during the Covid-19 pandemic from the contribution of competence and commitment, while 69.1% was from other variables outside the study

Anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive activities of the ethanolic extract of Pluchea indica (L) less leaf

    Get PDF
Ethanolic extract of Pluchea indica leaf (PIL) was used to investigate its anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive activities by using carrageenan - induced oedema model and acetic acid induced writhing test. PIL exhibited significant and dose-dependent anti-inflammatory activity at a dose of 300 mg/kg when administered orally. It is also demonstrated that the i.p administration of PIL at a dose of 10, 30, 100 and 300 mg/kg produced significant inhibition of abdominal constriction induced with 0.6% (v/v) acetic acid in dose dependent manner. These results indicate that PIL exhibits significant anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive effects

Thermal Conductivity Enhancement of Al2O3 Nanofluid in Ethylene Glycol and Water Mixture

AbstractThe ability of nanofluids that exhibits enhanced thermal performance is acknowledged by researchers through studies since decades ago. However, the observation of thermal properties for nanofluids in water and ethylene glycol based is not fully explored yet. Hence, this paper presents the thermal conductivity of water and ethylene glycol (EG) based Al2O3 nanofluid. The 13 nm sized Al2O3 nanoparticles were dispersed into three different volume ratio of water: EG such as 40:60, 50:50 and 60:40 using a two-step method. The measurement of thermal conductivity was performed using KD2 Pro Thermal Properties Analyzer at working temperatures of 30 to 70 ̊C for volume concentration of 0.5 to 2.0%. The results indicate that the thermal conductivity increases with the increase of nanofluid concentration and temperature. While the percentage of ethylene glycol increase, the range of thermal conductivity decreases due to ethylene glycol properties. The measurement data of the nanofluids give maximum enhancement of thermal conductivity at condition 2.0% volume concentration, temperature of 70 ̊C and for all base fluid

Residential Satisfaction in a Mining-Induced Displacement and Resettlement in Ghana

Housing challenges associated with Mining-Induced Displacement and Resettlement have not been examined in literature as much as relocations due to physical development projects like the construction of dams.  This study, therefore, endeavours to fill this gap by contributing to discussions on displacements and resettlements communities due to mining activities from the perspective of residential satisfaction.  A questionnaire survey was administered to 229 household-heads at Salman, a rural community in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region in Ghana, to investigate the determinants of residential satisfaction in a Mining-Induced Displacement and Resettlement. Residents’ assessed their satisfaction based on the physical features of the dwelling units, community facilities, social/neighbourhood environment, and infrastructural services.  Data were analysed using mathematical equations to attain residential satisfaction and habitability indices.  The study revealed moderate residential satisfaction with the overall resettlement housing.  Satisfaction with physical features of the dwelling units was high, while satisfaction with community facilitates and social/neighbourhood environment was moderate. The satisfaction level with infrastructure services was, however, shallow.  The study avers that there exist opportunities for real residential satisfaction after permanent mining-induced relocation of communities. Frame aggregation in wireless networks: techniques and issues

    Get PDF
The timing and headers overheads of IEEE 802.11 PHY and MAC layers consume a large part of the channel time leading to performance degradation especially at higher data rates. Several enhancements at both the PHY and MAC layers have been proposed in order to reduce these overheads and increase the channel utilization. A key enhancement is frame aggregation in which the timing and headers overheads are reduced by aggregating multiple frames into a single large frame and then transmit it in a single channel access. This paper addresses the frame aggregation techniques that have been proposed for the next generation wireless networks and the aggregation techniques that are adopted by IEEE 802.11n standard. It also high-lights the aggregation issues that need to be investigated in order to further enhance the frame aggregation performance
