Loop formation mechanism in the air-jet texturing process
A brief introduction to the air-jet texturing process is given, with reference to similarities between air-jet textured yarns and spun yarns, differences between them and stretch yarns, and developments in texturing nozzles. Researches undertaken at various universities on the investigation of the loop formation mechanism are reviewed. An alternative explanation of the loop formation mechanism is offered by detailed reference to current research in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Loughborough University of Technology, this being based on high-speed photography and flow measurement methods applied mainly to the standard core HemaJet produced by Heberlein of Switzerland. It is argued that the suggested mechanism applies generally to all texturing nozzles

The use of field indentation microprobe in measuring mechanical properties of welds
A field indentation microprobe (FIM) was conceived for evaluating the structural integrity of metallic components (including base metal, welds, and heat-affected zones) in situ in a nondestructive manner. The FIM consists of an automated ball indentation (ABI) unit for determining the mechanical properties (yield strength, flow properties, estimates of fracture toughness, etc.) and a nondestructive evaluation (NDE) unit (consisting of ultrasonic transducers and a video camera) for determining the physical properties such as crack size, material pileup around indentation, and residual stress presence and orientation. The laboratory version used in this work performs only ABI testing. ABI tests were performed on stainless steel base metal (type 316L), heat-affected zone, and welds (type 308). Excellent agreement was obtained between yield strength and flow properties (true-stress/true-plastic-strain curve) measured by the ABI tests and those from uniaxial tensile tests conducted on 308 stainless steel welds, thermally aged at 343/degree/C for different times, and on the base material. 4 refs., 17 figs
A model for the management of sexual harassment in South African companies
Sexual harassment is an issue shrouded in both controversy and ambiguity. As the literature indicates, its presence manifests itself negatively on both the well-being of the employees and the organisation. Consequently, management need to view sexual harassment as an area of concern because it ultimately affects the overall efficiency of organisations. The existing theoretical principles relating to the management of sexual harassment in the workplace have been analysed in depth, and a model is proposed which introduces, describes and integrates the various processes, steps and actions required for the efficient and effective management of sexual harassment in the workplace.Human Resource Managemen

Determination of the Strong Coupling \boldmath{\as} from hadronic Event Shapes and NNLO QCD predictions using JADE Data
Event Shape Data from annihilation into hadrons collected by the
JADE experiment at centre-of-mass energies between 14 GeV and 44 GeV are used
to determine the strong coupling . QCD predictions complete to
next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO), alternatively combined with resummed
next-to-leading-log-approximation (NNLO+NLLA) calculations, are used. The
combined value from six different event shape observables at the six JADE
centre-of-mass energies using the NNLO calculations is
= 0.1210 +/- 0.0007(stat.) +/- 0.0021(expt.) +/- 0.0044(had.)
+/- 0.0036(theo.) and with the NNLO+NLLA calculations the combined value is
= 0.1172 +/- 0.0006(stat.) +/- 0.0020(expt.) +/- 0.0035(had.) +/-
0.0030(theo.) . The stability of the NNLO and NNLO+NLLA results with respect to
missing higher order contributions, studied by variations of the
renormalisation scale, is improved compared to previous results obtained with
NLO+NLLA or with NLO predictions only. The observed energy dependence of
agrees with the QCD prediction of asymptotic freedom and excludes

Structural, item, and test generalizability of the psychopathology checklist - revised to offenders with intellectual disabilities
The Psychopathy Checklist–Revised (PCL-R) is the most widely used measure of psychopathy in forensic clinical practice, but the generalizability of the measure to offenders with intellectual disabilities (ID) has not been clearly established. This study examined the structural equivalence and scalar equivalence of the PCL-R in a sample of 185 male offenders with ID in forensic mental health settings, as compared with a sample of 1,212 male prisoners without ID. Three models of the PCL-R’s factor structure were evaluated with confirmatory factor analysis. The 3-factor hierarchical model of psychopathy was found to be a good fit to the ID PCL-R data, whereas neither the 4-factor model nor the traditional 2-factor model fitted. There were no cross-group differences in the factor structure, providing evidence of structural equivalence. However, item response theory analyses indicated metric differences in the ratings of psychopathy symptoms between the ID group and the comparison prisoner group. This finding has potential implications for the interpretation of PCL-R scores obtained with people with ID in forensic psychiatric settings
Complete solutions to the metric of spherically collapsing dust in an expanding spacetime with a cosmological constant
We present semi-analytical solutions to the background equations describing
the Lema\^itre-Tolman-Bondi (LTB) metric as well as the homogeneous Friedmann
equations, in the presence of dust, curvature and a cosmological constant
Lambda. For none of the presented solutions any numerical integration has to be
performed. All presented solutions are given for expanding and collapsing
phases, preserving continuity in time and radius. Hence, these solutions
describe the complete space time of a collapsing spherical object in an
expanding universe. In the appendix we present for completeness a solution of
the Friedmann equations in the additional presence of radiation, only valid for

Measurement of the strong coupling alpha_S from the three-jet rate in e+e- - annihilation using JADE data
We present a measurement of the strong coupling alpha_S using the three-jet
rate measured with the Durham algorithm in e+e- -annihilation using data of the
JADE experiment at centre-of-mass energies between 14 and 44 GeV. Recent
theoretical improvements provide predictions of the three-jet rate in e+e-
-annihilation at next-to-next-to-leading order. In this paper a measurement of
the three-jet rate is used to determine the strong coupling alpha_s from a
comparison to next-to-next-to-leading order predictions matched with
next-to-leading logarithmic approximations and yields a value for the strong
coupling alpha_S(MZ) = 0.1199+- 0.0010 (stat.) +- 0.0021 (exp.) +- 0.0054

Perturbative Heavy Quark Fragmentation Function through O(alpha_s^2)
We derive the initial condition for the perturbative fragmentation function
of a heavy quark through order O(alpha_s^2) in the MS-bar scheme. This initial
condition is useful for computing heavy quark (or lepton, in case of QED)
energy distributions from calculations with massless partons. In addition, the
initial condition at O(alpha_s^2) can be used to resum collinear logarithms
ln(Q^2/m^2) in heavy quark energy spectrum with next-to-next-to-leading

Measurement of Rb in e+e- Collisions at 182 - 209 GeV
Measurements of Rb, the ratio of the bbbar cross-section to the qqbar cross-
section in e+e- collisions, are presented. The data were collected by the OPAL
experiment at LEP at centre-of-mass energies between 182 GeV and 209 GeV.
Lepton, lifetime and event shape information is used to tag events containing b
quarks with high efficiency. The data are compatible with the Standard Model
expectation. The mean ratio of the eight measurements reported here to the
Standard Model prediction is 1.055+-0.031+-0.037, where the first error is
