    Kajian Semiotika pada Kumpulan Puisi Nyanyian Pesisir Karya Marsel Robot

    Kumpulan puisi Nyanyian Pesisir karya Marsel Robot merupakan objek kajian dalam artikel ini. Puisi mengekpresikan pengalaman, pengetahuan, dan perasaan pengarang yang merangsang imajinasi dan tanggapan pembaca. Puisi hadir dalam tanda, simbol, seperti diksi, rima, gaya bahasa, yang mengandung makna yang dapat dikaji antara lain melalui teori semiotika. Artikel ini bertujuan mendekripsikan bentuk dan makna semiotika yang terkandung dalam kumpulan puisi Nyanyian Pesisir karya Marsel Robot. Masalah yang dibahas tentang apa saja bentuk semiotika dan makna yang erkandung dalam kumpulan puisi Nyanyian Pesisir karya Marsel Robot.Teori yang digunakan adalah teori semiotika yang dikemukakan oleh Roland Barthes yang menggunakan 3 (tiga) metode untuk menganalisis karya sastra, yakni menemukan makna denotasi, makna konotasi, dan mitos.  Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa frasa, kalimat yang terdapat dalam larik-larik puisi pada kumpulan puisi Nyanyian Pesisir karya Marsel Robot. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik membaca berulang, mencatat, dan mendeskripsikan bentuk dan makna puisi yang dianalisis sebanyak 5 (lima) puisi. Puisi yang dianalisis adalah puisi yang berisi kecaman yang bersifat sindiran, seperti puisi Kembang Tepi Jalan dan puisi Memotong Sepi; puisi berisi penyesalan yang memilukan, seperti puisi Gempa di Atas Kertas dan puisi Menggaris Matahari, dan puisi berisi ajakan penyesalan yang memilukan, seperti puisi Gempa di Atas Kertas dan puisi Menggaris Matahari, dan  puisi berisi ajakan yang membangkitkan, seperti puisi Cangkulah Bumi, Saudaraku. Analisis data dilakukan dengan teknik analisis teks. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data disimpulkan bahwa kumpulan Puisi Nyanyian Pesisir Karya Marsel Robot, memiliki (1) bentuk-bentuk semiotik yang ditemukan dalam kalimat, dan frasa, dan (2) makna semiotik yang ditemukan dalam makna denotasi, makna konotasi, dan mitos

    Electric-field-induced alignment of electrically neutral disk-like particles: modelling and calculation

    This work reveals a torque from electric field to electrically neutral flakes that are suspended in a higher electrical conductive matrix. The torque tends to rotate the particles toward an orientation with its long axis parallel to the electric current flow. The alignment enables the anisotropic properties of tiny particles to integrate together and generate desirable macroscale anisotropic properties. The torque was obtained from thermodynamic calculation of electric current free energy at various microstructure configurations. It is significant even when the electrical potential gradient becomes as low as 100 v/m. The changes of electrical, electroplastic and thermal properties during particles alignment were discussed

    Meat and bone meal as a partial replacement for fish meal in diets for gilthead seabream (Spares aurata): growth, feed efficiency angry amino acid utilization, and economic efficiency

    [EN] A trial was conducted to evaluate fish meal (FM) replacement with meat and bone meal (MBM; 53% CP, 15% CL, 27% Ash) in diets for gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata) juveniles. Three extruded experimental diets were formulated (45% CP; 20% CL) to include 0, 50 and 75% of protein from MBM (diets MBM0; MBM50; MBM75). Triplicate groups of seabream (IBW = 25 g) were fed these diets to satiety for 12 weeks. Growth performance and feed efficiency were similar with the diets MBM0 and MBM50, but were lower with diet MBM75, while the opposite was true for feed intake. Whole-body composition was not affected by diets composition except for crude lipid and energy content, which were lower with the diet MBM75. Protein and essential amino acids retention were unaffected by diet composition, while energy retention was lower with the diet MBM75. In terms of economic efficiency, diets with MBM resulted in a lower production costs, with the lowest economic conversion ratio ( kg− 1 fish produced) being obtained for the MBM diets while the maximum economic profit ( kg fish− 1) was obtained for diet MBM50.     Astronomical Spectroscopy

    Spectroscopy is one of the most important tools that an astronomer has for studying the universe. This chapter begins by discussing the basics, including the different types of optical spectrographs, with extension to the ultraviolet and the near-infrared. Emphasis is given to the fundamentals of how spectrographs are used, and the trade-offs involved in designing an observational experiment. It then covers observing and reduction techniques, noting that some of the standard practices of flat-fielding often actually degrade the quality of the data rather than improve it. Although the focus is on point sources, spatially resolved spectroscopy of extended sources is also briefly discussed. Discussion of differential extinction, the impact of crowding, multi-object techniques, optimal extractions, flat-fielding considerations, and determining radial velocities and velocity dispersions provide the spectroscopist with the fundamentals needed to obtain the best data.     Habitat quality affects the condition of Luciobarbus sclateri in the Guadiamar River (SW Iberian Peninsula): Effects of disturbances by the toxic spill of the Aznalcóllar mine

    This study analyzes the somatic condition of southern Iberian barbel Luciobarbus sclateri (Günther, 1868) in the Guadiamar River (SW Iberian Peninsula). This river was seriously affected by a toxic spill of about 4 million cubic meters of acidic water and 2 million cubic meters of mud rich in heavy metals. Once the spill removal works concluded, sites affected and unaffected by the accident were sampled to study its effects on the fish fauna. The ecological variables registered were related to water quality, physical state of reaches, ecological quality, resources exploited by fish, and potential intra-specific interactions. From an initial 15 ecological variables, seasonal water flow and pH explained most of the variation in barbel condition. This study shows that the Guadiamar River, 56 months after the accident, is still undergoing a recovery process where, beyond ecological variables, proximity to the affected area is the most influential factor for fish condition. © 2012 Springer Science+Business Media B.V

    Mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical properties of thermoplastic elastomer styrene–butadiene–styrene/multiwall carbon nanotubes composites

    Composites of styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) block copolymer with multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) were processed by solution casting in order to investigate the influence of filler content, the different ratio of styrene/butadiene in the copolymer and the architecture of the SBS matrix on the electrical, mechanical and electro-mechanical properties of the composites. It was found that filler content and elastomer matrix architecture influence the percolation threshold and consequently the overall composite electrical conductivity. The mechanical properties are mainly affected by the styrene and filler content. Hopping between nearest fillers is proposed as the main mechanism for the composite conduction. The variation of the electrical resistivity is linear with the deformation.     Electrodeposition and characterisation of CdS thin films using thiourea precursor for application in solar cells

    CdS thin films have been successfully electrodeposited on glass/FTO substrates using acidic and aqueous solution of CdCl2.xH2O and thiourea (SC(NH2)2). The electrodeposition of CdS thin films were carried out potentiostatically using a 2-electrode system. The prepared films were characterised using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Atomic force microscopy (AFM), Photoelectrochemical (PEC) cell measurements, Electrical resistivity measurements and UV-Vis spectrophotometry to study their structural, compositional, morphological, electrical and optical properties, respectively. The structural studies show that the as-deposited and annealed CdS layers are polycrystalline with hexagonal crystal structure and preferentially oriented along (200) planes. The optical studies indicate that the ED-CdS layers have direct bandgaps in the range (2.53-2.58) eV for the as-deposited and (2.42-2.48) eV after annealing at 400oC for 20 minutes in air. The morphological studies show the good coverage of the FTO surface by the CdS grains. The average grain sizes for the as-deposited and annealed layers were in the range (60-225) nm. These grains or clusters are made out of smaller nano crystallites with the sizes in the range ~(11-33) nm. The electrical resistivity shows reduction as thickness increases. The resistivity values for the as-deposited and annealed layers were in the range (0.82-4.92)×105 Ωcm. The optimum growth voltage for the CdS thin films was found to be at the cathodic potential of 797 mV with respect to the graphite anode. No visible precipitations of elemental S or CdS particles were observed in the deposition electrolyte showing a stable bath using thiourea during the growth

    Congruence of tissue expression profiles from Gene Expression Atlas, SAGEmap and TissueInfo databases

    BACKGROUND: Extracting biological knowledge from large amounts of gene expression information deposited in public databases is a major challenge of the postgenomic era. Additional insights may be derived by data integration and cross-platform comparisons of expression profiles. However, database meta-analysis is complicated by differences in experimental technologies, data post-processing, database formats, and inconsistent gene and sample annotation. RESULTS: We have analysed expression profiles from three public databases: Gene Expression Atlas, SAGEmap and TissueInfo. These are repositories of oligonucleotide microarray, Serial Analysis of Gene Expression and Expressed Sequence Tag human gene expression data respectively. We devised a method, Preferential Expression Measure, to identify genes that are significantly over- or under-expressed in any given tissue. We examined intra- and inter-database consistency of Preferential Expression Measures. There was good correlation between replicate experiments of oligonucleotide microarray data, but there was less coherence in expression profiles as measured by Serial Analysis of Gene Expression and Expressed Sequence Tag counts. We investigated inter-database correlations for six tissue categories, for which data were present in the three databases. Significant positive correlations were found for brain, prostate and vascular endothelium but not for ovary, kidney, and pancreas. CONCLUSION: We show that data from Gene Expression Atlas, SAGEmap and TissueInfo can be integrated using the UniGene gene index, and that expression profiles correlate relatively well when large numbers of tags are available or when tissue cellular composition is simple. Finally, in the case of brain, we demonstrate that when PEM values show good correlation, predictions of tissue-specific expression based on integrated data are very accurate
