    A Bieberbach group with point group  C2 xC2  is a free torsion crystallographic group. A central subgroup of a nonabelian tensor square of a group G, denoted by ∇(G) is a normal subgroup generated by generator g⊗g for all g∈G and essentially depends on the abelianization of the group. In this paper, the formula of the central subgroup of the nonabelian tensor square of one Bieberbach group with point group   C2 xC2 , of lowest dimension 3, denoted by S3 (3) is generalized up to n dimension. The consistent polycyclic presentation, the derived subgroup and the abelianization of group this group of n dimension are first determined. By using these presentations, the central subgroup of the nonabelian tensor square of this group of n dimension is constructed. The findings of this research can be further applied to compute the homological functors of this group.Keywords: Bieberbach group; central subgroup; nonabelian tensor square

    A b s t r a c t This review concentrates on corrosion properties that expose to soil environment. Forms of corrosion classified with respect to outward appearance and altered physical properties are uniform attack, galvanic corrosion, erosion corrosion, stress corrosion, crevice corrosion, pitting and inter-granular corrosion. A porous soil may retain moisture for a longer period for optimum aeration and indirectly increase the initial corrosion rate. External corrosion is corrosion attack upon the outside of the pipe soil medium and the most failure mechanisms experienced by buried steel pipelines. Many systems possibly in contact with soil have risk to be corroded such as storage tanks and pipelines

    Porous Asphalt (PA) is known as a highly permeable asphalt surface that design to be permeable pavements for stormwater control and reduce the stormwater runoff. However, the structure is subjected to damage from cracking, rutting, stripping, and rapid aging under the effects of repeated vehicle loading, hot climates, and heavy rainfall. To overcome this, PA needs to modify using high tensile strength like steel fiber. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the performance of PA with the addition of steel fiber and overcome the issue that is related to PA. A mixture contains varying percentages of steel fiber were assessed to check which samples gives the best performance as per the requirement by using laboratory tests which are LA Abrasion, Resilient Modulus, Marshall Stability, and Density. The results show that the additions of 0.6% steel fiber give the lowest value of abrasion, while 0.5% fiber content contributes the highest value of Resilient Modulus and Marshall Stability respectively. PA mixtures modified with steel fiber produce the performance enhancement of PA as a road surfacing material. It is concluded that the asphalt mixtures containing steel fibers could increase the stability and strength of the mix

    This research examines the role of smartphones in refugees’ journeys. It traces the risks and possibilities afforded by smartphones for facilitating information, communication, and migration flows in the digital passage to Europe. For the Syrian and Iraqi refugee respondents in this France-based qualitative study, smartphones are lifelines, as important as water and food. They afford the planning, navigation, and documentation of journeys, enabling regular contact with family, friends, smugglers, and those who help them. However, refugees are simultaneously exposed to new forms of exploitation and surveillance with smartphones as migrations are financialised by smugglers and criminalized by European policies, and the digital passage is dependent on a contingent range of sociotechnical and material assemblages. Through an infrastructural lens, we capture the dialectical dynamics of opportunity and vulnerability, and the forms of resilience and solidarity, that arise as forced migration and digital connectivity coincide

    Porous asphalt mixture is also known as gap graded mixture with less amount of fine aggregate has led the mixture contains high air voids, tends to make the mixture less durable and high porousity. Hence, past researchers has investigate on how to increase the strength of porous asphalt mixture by the addition of additive such as fiber and nanomaterials. The chemical and physical properties of porous asphalt mixture was highlighted in this paper to compare its structure, the bonding between the materials and its chemical composition that exist. This paper reviews on how additive affect the asphalt mixture in terms of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-Ray Diffractions (XRD) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). These tests are selected to improve the asphalt mixture according to the morphological and chemical properties of porous asphalt. This study is expected to identify the morphological and chemical composition of the materials in asphalt mixture

    The power of PISA – limitations and possibilities for educational research

    On 6th December 2016, the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) releases its report on the achievements of 15-year-olds from 72 countries and economies around the world. This triennial international survey aims to evaluate education systems across 72 contexts by testing skills in Mathematics, Science and Reading Literacy. This is the sixth cycle of PISA and the OECD suggests countries and economies now have the capability to compare the results over time to ‘assess the impact of education policy decisions’ . Compared to other education studies, the media coverage of PISA must be described as massive (Meyer and Benavot, 2013, Baird et al., 2016) and, as with previous years, it is expected that PISA will attract considerable discussion among policy makers, educators and researchers (Wiseman, 2014). It is therefore timely to present a thematic issue of Assessment in Education, where we publish four articles that have analysed previous datasets from the PISA studies each commenting upon the challenges, limitations and potential future assessment research on the PISA data. The articles touch upon issues regarding sampling, language, item difficulty and demands, as well as the secondary analyses of students’ reported experiences of formative assessment in the classroom. One important message from the authors in this thematic Special Issue is the need for a more complex discussion around the use and misuse of PISA data, and the importance of pointing to the limitations of how the results are presented to policy makers and the public. In an area where the media produces narratives on schools and education systems based upon rankings in PISA, researchers in the field of large-scale assessment studies have a particularly important role in stepping up and advising on how to interpret and understand these studies, while warning against potential misuse. </p

    A Ghoshal-like Test of Equilibration in Near-Fermi-Energy Heavy Ion Collisions

    Calorimetric and coalescence techniques have been employed to probe equilibration for hot nuclei produced in heavy ion collisions of 35 to 55 MeV/u projectiles with medium mass targets. Entrance channel mass asymmetries and energies were selected in order that very hot composite nuclei of similar mass and excitation would remain after early stage pre-equilibrium particle emission. Inter-comparison of the properties and de-excitation patterns for these different systems provides evidence for the production of hot nuclei with decay patterns relatively independent of the specific entrance channel.Comment: 7 pages, 2 figure
