Asymmetric I-V characteristics and magnetoresistance in magnetic point contacts

We present a theoretical study of the transport properties of magnetic point contacts under bias. Our calculations are based on the Keldish's non-equilibrium Green's function formalism combined with a self-consistent empirical tight-binding Hamiltonian, which describes both strong ferromagnetism and charging effects. We demonstrate that large magnetoresistance solely due to electronic effects can be found when a sharp domain wall forms inside a magnetic atomic-scale point contact. Moreover we show that the symmetry of the $I$-$V$ characteristic depends on the position of the domain wall in the constriction. In particular diode-like curves can arise when the domain wall is placed off-center within the point contact, although the whole structure does not present any structural asymmetry.Comment: 7 figures, submitted to PR

Constraints on holographic multifield inflation and models based on the Hamilton-Jacobi formalism

In holographic inflation, the 4D cosmological dynamics is postulated to be dual to the renormalization group flow of a 3D Euclidean conformal field theory with marginally relevant operators. The scalar potential of the 4D theory—in which inflation is realized—is highly constrained, with use of the Hamilton–Jacobi equations. In multifield holographic realizations of inflation, fields additional to the inflaton cannot display underdamped oscillations (that is, their wave functions contain no oscillatory phases independent of the momenta). We show that this result is exact, independent of the number of fields, the field space geometry, and the shape of the inflationary trajectory followed in multifield space. In the specific case where the multifield trajectory is a straight line or confined to a plane, it can be understood as the existence of an upper bound on the dynamical masses m of extra fields of the form m≤3H/2 up to slow roll corrections. This bound corresponds to the analytic continuation of the well-known Breitenlohner–Freedman bound found in anti–de Sitter spacetimes in the case when the masses are approximately constant. The absence of underdamped oscillations implies that a detection of “cosmological collider” oscillatory patterns in the non-Gaussian bispectrum would not only rule out single-field inflation, but also holographic inflation or any inflationary model based on the Hamilton–Jacobi equations. Non-Ricardian Aspects of Fiscal Policy in Chile

This paper examines non-Ricardian effects of government spending shocks in the Chilean economy. We first provide evidence on those effects based on vector autoregressions. We then show that such evidence can be accounted for by a model that features: (i) a sizeable share of non-Ricardian households (i.e. households which do not make use of financial markets and just consume their current labor income); (ii) nominal price and wage rigidities; (iii) an inflation targeting scheme and (iv) a structural balance fiscal rule that reflects the particular Chilean fiscal rule. The model is estimated employing Bayesian techniques. Finally, we use model simulations to demonstrate the countercyclical effects of the Chilean fiscal rule as compared with a zero-deficit rule.

Los estilos de aprendizaje Vark en estudiantes universitarios de las escuelas de negocios

The aim of this research was to know the learning styles in the students of the business schools of a private university in the Department of Lambayeque. An applied survey, a test of VARK learning styles, was applied to 218 university students (71 students of Administration and 147 students of International Business Administration), from the II to X term of the business schools of said University. During the first semester of the 2018, it was found that 25.5% of students have a multimodal learning style. It was also found that age is significantly associated with learning styles. Finally, a significant relationship between the learning style and the professional school is demonstrated. On the one hand the Administration students have mostly a multimodal learning style (two or more styles), while international business students have a reading/writing learning style.La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo conocer los estilos de aprendizaje en los estudiantes de las escuelas de negocios de una universidad privada del departamento de Lambayeque. Mediante una encuesta aplicada, prueba de estilos de aprendizaje VARK, a 218 universitarios/as (71 estudiantes de Administración y 147 estudiantes de Administración de Negocios Internacionales), del II al X ciclo de las escuelas de negocios de dicha universidad durante el primer semestre del 2018. Se encontró que el 25.5% de los/as estudiantes tienen un estilo de aprendizaje multimodal; asimismo, se halló que la edad está asociada significativamente a los estilos de aprendizaje. Finalmente, se demuestra una relación significativa del estilo de aprendizaje y la escuela profesional, de un lado los/las estudiantes de Administración tienen en su mayoría un estilo de aprendizaje multimodal (dos o más estilos); mientras que los/las estudiantes de Negocios Internacionales tienen un estilo de aprendizaje lecto/escritora

El control de los criterios de higiene de los procesos en mataderos de cerdo ibérico como medio para evaluar el funcionamiento aceptable de la producción

La normativa vigente obliga a los mataderos de cerdo ibérico a desarrollar e implantar un plan APPCC (Análisis de Peligros y Puntos de Control Crítico). De igual modo deben comprobar el correcto funcionamiento de su proceso de producción realizando controles microbiologícos de la superficie de las canales, siguiendo un plan de muestreo diseñado de acuerdo al Reglamento 2073/2005. En el presente trabajo se expone el diseño de un plan de muestreo de un matadero de cerdo ibérico, y se muestran los resultados obtenidos en los primeros controles realizados siguiendo dicho plan

Controles analíticos realizados en una pequeña industria elaboradora de quesos de oveja y su papel en el contexto de la garantía de inocuidad de los productos elaborados

Como parte de las actuaciones encaminadas a asegurar la inocuidad de los quesos, las industrias elaboradoras de quesos deben comprobar la ausencia de antibióticos en la leche que utilizan como materia prima, así como la calidad microbiológica de ésta. Igualmente deben llevar a cabo controles microbiológicos de los quesos que ponen en el mercado. El presente trabajo muestra el modo en que lleva a cabo estos controles una industria elaboradora de queso de oveja, así como la comparación de los resultados obtenidos en los mencionados controles durante el año 2006 con los criterios establecidos en la normativa vigente
