Sulfonamides and quinoxaline derivatives possess many types of biological activities and have been recently reported to show substantial antitumor activity. This paper reports the synthesis of novel thioureidosulfaquinoxaline derivatives. All the newly synthesized compounds were evaluated for their in vitro anticancer activity against a human liver cell line (HEPG2) and showed higher activity than the reference drug doxorubicin. 4-(3-(4-Ethylbenzoate)thioureido)-N-(quinoxalin-2-yl)benzenesulfonamide (9) (IC50 = 15.6 µmol L1), N-(pyridin-2-yl)-4-(3-(4-(N-quinoxalin-2-yl-sulfamoyl)phenyl)thioureido)benzene-sulfonamide (10) (IC50 = 26.8 µmol L1) and N-(quinoxalin-2-yl)-4-(3-(4-(N-thiazol-2-ylsulfamoyl)phenyl)thioureido)benzenesulfonamide (11) (IC50 = 24.4 µmol L1) were the most potent compared to doxorubicin (IC50 = 71.8 µmol L1). The most potent compounds 9, 10 and 11 were evaluated as radiosensitizing agents by subjecting the compounds to γ-irradiation (8 kGy).Derivati sulfonamida i kinoksalina imaju raznoliko biološko djelovanje, između ostalog i antitumorsko djelovanje.

IoT-equipped UAV communications with seamless vertical handover

With advancement in the technology and services in different application areas, UAVs have become a strong market share. Applications range from goods delivery, agriculture, surveillance, mining, industrial inspection, disaster management etc. Furthermore, this vast usability of UAVs can be powered by Internet of Things (IoT) and it can offer a new IoT value-added services. UAVs can be referred to as 'things in motion' which can be controlled over the Internet and push the sensor data they collect to the cloud services. But this imposes major challenges with high a volume of data transmissions in some applications. Another area of concern is the choice of mode of communication in LOS (Line of Sight) and BLOS (Beyond Line of Sight) where Wi-Fi could have limited accessibility and other modes like satellite communication have higher cost of data transmissions. In this paper, a RESTful approach to connect UAVs with IoT to stream sensor data to cloud services is presented, providing an efficient solution for data management and transmissions by efficiently gathering, filtering and transmitting data on demand to the cloud services. An efficient vertical handover mechanism is also presented between different modes of communication like Wi-Fi and satellite for BLOS communication challenges to increase reliability or reduce cost

Assessment of Effectiveness of Ozonated Olive Oil Fused with Corticosteroids for the Management of Oral Erosive Lichen Planus: A Novel Approach

Erosive lichen planus is counted amongst the most debilitating conditions of oral cavity which has multifactorial etiology and Malignant turnover potential. It has been documented that ozonated olive oil have healing, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties and thus have great potential in management of the ulcerative lesions. Present study is aimed to evaluate and compare the efficacy of using ozonated olive oil combined with systemic steroid and antioxidant in the management of erosive lichen planus. Materials and methods: Eighty patients with a confirmed clinical and histopathologic diagnosis of erosive OLP were randomly allocated into four groups. Group I, II, III and IV were prescribed systemic Prednisolone 40 mg/day,soft-gel capsule lycopene (6 mg/day), combination therapy of systemic steroid (40mg/day) along with ozonated olive oil and combination therapy of lycopene (16 mg/day) and ozonated olive oil respectively. OLP clinical course was assessed by measuring severity of pain, burning sensation(VAS), clinical signs(scale of Thongprasom) and efficacy of the treatment(efficacy index methods of Liu set). Patients were monitored on regular follow up

The Zebrafish GenomeWiki: a crowdsourcing approach to connect the long tail for zebrafish gene annotation.

A large repertoire of gene-centric data has been generated in the field of zebrafish biology. Although the bulk of these data are available in the public domain, most of them are not readily accessible or available in nonstandard formats. One major challenge is to unify and integrate these widely scattered data sources. We tested the hypothesis that active community participation could be a viable option to address this challenge. We present here our approach to create standards for assimilation and sharing of information and a system of open standards for database intercommunication. We have attempted to address this challenge by creating a community-centric solution for zebrafish gene annotation. The Zebrafish GenomeWiki is a 'wiki'-based resource, which aims to provide an altruistic shared environment for collective annotation of the zebrafish genes. The Zebrafish GenomeWiki has features that enable users to comment, annotate, edit and rate this gene-centric information. The credits for contributions can be tracked through a transparent microattribution system. In contrast to other wikis, the Zebrafish GenomeWiki is a 'structured wiki' or rather a 'semantic wiki'. The Zebrafish GenomeWiki implements a semantically linked data structure, which in the future would be amenable to semantic search. Database URL: http://genome.igib.res.in/twiki
