, Background problem in this research is the result of shot put students are still many who do not reach the target. This is presumably because of the explosive power of arms and shoulders. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a corelation explosive power of arms and shoulders with shot put results students of SMPN 6 Teluk Tengah District of Kuantan Tengah. This type of research is correlational comparing the measurement results of two different variables in order to determine the degree of correlation between these variables. As the independent variable (X) is explosive power and arm muscles while the dependent variable (Y) is the result of shot put. This empirically Data obtained from the tests using two hand medicine ball put and shot put test. Based on the results of research and data processing using statistical procedures of research, it can be concluded that for the corelation between the variables x and y values obtained r = 0.66 then r xy> rtabel (0.66> 0.361). And obtained the mean of 4.71 thitungsebesar thitung> ttabel (4.71> 1.701) so this shows that the variables X and Y there is a significant corelation, then Ho is rejected and Ha accepted

Silver-Russell syndrome
Silver-Russell syndrome is clinically and genetically a heterogeneous disorder. In most of the cases, etiology is unknown, only in 10% cases defect in chromosome 7 is identified. It bas distinctive facial features and asymmetric limbs. Most predominant symptom is growth failure. A case of Silver-Russell syndrome reported here who presented with growth failure, hemihypertrophy ofleft side oftbe body, dysmorphic facial profile and difficulty in speech. Counseling was done with the parents regarding the etiology, progression and outcome of the disease
Knowledge and Attitudes of Sana'a University Medical Students towards Premarital Screening
Objectives: To assess the knowledge and attitudes of Sana’a University medical students towards premarital screening (PMS).
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among the students of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Sana’a University, during the academic year 2012/2013. A self-administered questionnaire was distributed to 516 Yemeni students. The questionnaire was composed of three parts; the first part was about socio-demographic data, the second part was about the students’ knowledge about PMS and the third part was about their attitudes towards the PMS.
Results: Most of the respondents (92%) knew that PMS reduces hereditary and sexually-transmitted diseases, believed that it is important to carry out and agreed to do it. Making PMS mandatory and legal prevention of marriage in case of positive results were accepted by 82% and 62% of the respondents, respectively.
Conclusions: Although the majority of Sana’a University medical students favored PMS and had a fair knowledge about most of its aspects, a small proportion of them refused its mandating or legally preventing at-risk marriages. These negative attitudes could be reversed by health education of medical students on PMS
Examination of Prefrontal Cortex Activity After EEG-Neurofeedback Stimulation in Overweight Cases
Food intake regulation is considered the key to weight control and overweight prevention. The brain activity in PreFrontal Cortex (PFC) plays a role in food intake behaviors. Most of the previous studies were aimed to PFC stimulation in overweight cases to modify the food intake behaviors. The EEG-neurofeedback is one of the brain stimulation techniques; therefore, this study aims to find the effect of EEG-NF stimulation on PFC function by EEG features analysis. For the purpose of analysis, the theta\beta ratio was extracted from ten healthy overweight participators in this study. All participants were divided into two groups, experimental group and control group with two phase-terms, pre and post-stimulation phase. The experiments were run using EEG-NF device. The results in this study indicate that success of EEG-Neurofeedback in PFC stimulation of overweight cases may have an influence on changing the food intake behavior
Types and Clinical Profile of Rickets in a Tertiary Care Hospital
Background: There are different types of rickets. Rickets presents with various clinical signs and symptoms. Familial X linked hypophosphatamic rickets (XLHR) is reported to be the commonest one. Objectives: To find out the types of rickets and the presenting features of rickets. Setting: Department Paediatrics, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). Design: Descriptive type of study. Methods: A total number of 20 children with rickets were included in this study during the period of January 2004 to July 2008. A questionnaire was used for compiling the information. Data were compiled manually and expressed as frequency distribution table. Result: Male: Female ratio was 13:7. Mean age of the patients was 49.36 months. Nutritional and familial hypophosphatamic rickets constituted the majority, each of the type being 40%. Common clinical presentations included limb weakness (90%), growth failure (90%) and repeated respiratory tract infection (80%). Widening of the wrist were present in 90% of patients. Rachitic rosary and protruded abdomen were present in 80% of cases. Radiological findings of rickets were present in 100% of patients. Conclusion: Nutritional and XLHR rickets were the common type. Common clinical features were weakness of limbs, growth failure and widening of wrists. Key words: Rickets; nutritional; XLHR; RTA.DOI: 10.3329/bsmmuj.v2i1.3703 BSMMU J 2009; 2(1): 3-
Mid-Gut Carcinoid Tumour Presenting as Suspected Orbital Metastasis
Although metastasis of carcinoid tumours of the intestine is rare, it has been reported in several organs, mainly in the lungs, the liver and less commonly in the orbits. We report a 50-year-old male patient who presented at Hamad General Hospital, Doha, Qatar, in 2016 with central abdominal pain, distention, nausea and vomiting for the previous four days. The patient had unilateral right- sided exophthalmos for two years prior to presentation. Following an abdominal computed tomography (CT) scan and an ultrasound guided biopsy, the patient was diagnosed with extensive multi-focal metastatic carcinoid tumour of the small bowel and mesentery; histopathology confirmed the diagnosis. Subsequently, the patient underwent a laparotomy and small bowel resection and was administered somatostatin therapy. One week postoperatively, the patient developed an acute increase in his right eye exophthalmos. CT, magnetic resonance imaging and scintigraphy scans revealed an orbital metastatic lesion, which probably originated from the previously diagnosed carcinoid tumour. The orbital metastasis was treated with somatostatin therapy and the patient was lost to follow-up when he left the country. Keywords: Carcinoid Tumor; Orbital Neoplasm; Metastasis; Exophthalmos; Scintigraphy; Case Report; Qatar
Phytochemical, antimicrobial and cytotoxicity screening of ethanol extract of Acacia ehrenbergiana Hayne grown in Jazan Region of Saudi Arabia
Purpose: To explore the phytoconstituents of Acacia ehrenbergiana Hayne as well as its biological effects.
Methods: Determination of phytoconstituents of ethanol extract of the plant was performed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) technique. Antibacterial screening was conducted against the isolates of Gram-positive and Gram-negative microbes while the anti-carcinogenic properties of the ethanol extract on cancerous cells were investigated by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) cytotoxicity assay against breast MCF7, ovary cancer A2780 and colon cancer HT29 cells, respectively, in addition to normal MRC5 fibroblast cells.
Results: GC-MS analysis identified 15 different phytochemicals in the ethanol extract. The extract exerted significant antimicrobial activity with the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) in the range 1.56 - 6.25 and 3.12 – 12.5 mg/L, respectively, against all test bacterial strains. Cytotoxic activity, obtained by MTT assay, was 28.81 ± 0.99, 12.50 ± 2.50, 23.90 ± 0.74 and 50.58 ± 3.24 μg/mL, against the three cancer cell lines and normal fibroblast, respectively. MTT cytotoxicity results was further confirmed by clonogenic survival assay on MCF7 cells.
Conclusion: This study highlights the potential interesting ethnopharmacological applications of Acacia ehrenbergiana Hayne to treat drug-resistant pathogens as standardized extract.
