Perfect Teleportation and Superdense Coding With W-States
True tripartite entanglement of the state of a system of three qubits can be
classified on the basis of stochastic local operations and classical
communications (SLOCC). Such states can be classified in two categories: GHZ
states and W-states. It is known that GHZ states can be used for teleportation
and superdense coding, but the prototype W-state cannot be. However, we show
that there is a class of W-states that can be used for perfect teleportation

Management and Performance of APPLE Battery in High Temperature Environment
India's first experimental communication satellite, APPLE, carried a 12 AH Ni-Cd battery for supplying power during eclipse. Failure to deploy one of the two solar panels resulted in the battery operating in a high temperature environment, around 40 C. This also resulted in the battery being used in diurnal cycles rather than just half yearly eclipse seasons. The management and performance of the battery during its life of two years are described. An attempt to identify the probable degradation mechanisms is also made
Stacking the Equiangular Spiral
We present an algorithm that adapts the mature Stack and Draw (SaD) methodology for fabricating the exotic Equiangular Spiral Photonic Crystal Fiber. (ES-PCF) The principle of Steiner chains and circle packing is exploited to obtain a non-hexagonal design using a stacking procedure based on Hexagonal Close Packing. The optical properties of the proposed structure are promising for SuperContinuum Generation. This approach could make accessible not only the equiangular spiral but also other quasi-crystal PCF through SaD

A new finite-difference-based method for wide-angle beam propagation
A novel split-step finite-difference method for wide-angle beam propagation is presented. The formulation allows solution of the second-order scalar wave equation without having to make the slowly varying envelope and one-way propagation approximations. Extensive Supratentorial Hemorrhages Following Posterior Fossa Meningioma Surgery
Remote supratentorial hematoma soon after posterior fossa surgery for the removal of a space-occupying lesion is a rare but dramatic and dreaded complication, carrying significant morbidity and mortality. A 47-year-old woman presented with headache of 1-year duration that worsened over last 2 months, progressive ataxia of 2 months’ duration, blurring and diminution of vision of 2 months’ duration and forgetfulness of 2 months’ duration. Fundus showed bilateral papille dema, and visual acuity was 6/9 in both eyes. She had left-sided cerebellar signs. There were no focal motor or sensory neurological deficits. MRI brain with contrast showed a large posterior fossa tumor with obstructive hydrocephalus. The patient underwent
left paramedian suboccipital craniectomy in prone position with left side up. In the immediate postoperative period, the patient did no recover from anesthesia and was persistently drowsy. Immediate repeat CT scan showed diffuse subarachnoid hemorrhage spread all over the bilateral cerebral hemispheres with diffuse cerebral edema. The patient recovered with conservative management without deficits. This case stresses the importance of early postoperative CT scan and optimal management of the hemorrhage for good outcome.
