    Assessment of the periodontal health status and gingival recession during orthodontic treatment with clear aligners and fixed appliances: A systematic review and meta-analysis

    Background: The aim was to assess periodontal health maintenance and gingival recessions development in pa-tients undergoing an orthodontic treatment with clear aligners (CA) and fixed appliances (FA).Material and Methods: An electronic search in MEDLINE, Scopus, The Cochrane Library, and Web of Science was performed up to September 2022 to identify all potential articles. Two investigators independently selected the studies according to the inclusion criteria. Prospective and retrospective studies assessing the periodontal health status and gingival recession development during the orthodontic treatment with buccal FA and CA were included. Case series, cross-sectional studies, and studies with less than two months of follow-up were excluded. Two investigators independently extracted the data from included articles and assessed risk of bias across studies using the Cochrane Collaboration tool. Qualitative and quantitative analyses of the data were performed. Pairwise meta-analysis using a random-effects model were used to compare periodontal indices between FA and CA treat-ment in different follow-up periods.Results: From the 129 potential studies, finally 12 studies were included. Only 8 could be included in the quantita-tive analysis. CA seems to slightly maintain better periodontal health indices. Only plaque index in a mid-term follow-up (mean difference (MD):-0.99; 95%; Confidence interval (CI) [-1.94 to-0.03]; P=.04; I2=99%), and pocket probing depth at a long-term follow-up (MD: -0.93mm; 95% CI [-1.16 to 0.7]; P<0.0001) reported statisti-cally significant results favoring CA.Conclusions: Up to the date there is not enough evidence to conclude that CA maintains better periodontal health during an orthodontic treatment than FA

    Canted antiferromagnetism in phase-pure CuMnSb

    We report the low-temperature properties of phase-pure single crystals of the half-Heusler compound CuMnSb grown by means of optical float-zoning. The magnetization, specific heat, electrical resistivity, and Hall effect of our single crystals exhibit an antiferromagnetic transition at TN=55 KT_{\mathrm{N}} = 55~\mathrm{K} and a second anomaly at a temperature T∗≈34 KT^{*} \approx 34~\mathrm{K}. Powder and single-crystal neutron diffraction establish an ordered magnetic moment of (3.9±0.1) ΌB/f.u.(3.9\pm0.1)~\mu_{\mathrm{B}}/\mathrm{f.u.}, consistent with the effective moment inferred from the Curie-Weiss dependence of the susceptibility. Below TNT_{\mathrm{N}}, the Mn sublattice displays commensurate type-II antiferromagnetic order with propagation vectors and magnetic moments along ⟹111⟩\langle111\rangle (magnetic space group R[I]3cR[I]3c). Surprisingly, below T∗T^{*}, the moments tilt away from ⟹111⟩\langle111\rangle by a finite angle ή≈11∘\delta \approx 11^{\circ}, forming a canted antiferromagnetic structure without uniform magnetization consistent with magnetic space group C[B]cC[B]c. Our results establish that type-II antiferromagnetism is not the zero-temperature magnetic ground state of CuMnSb as may be expected of the face-centered cubic Mn sublattice.Comment: 14 pages, 15 figure

    Using game theory, this study analyzed clients' decisions after receiving digital relational marketing campaigns via email for two types of products: apparel and electronics-music-video. The objectives were to analyze the promotional and relational e-mails to discern which of the two is most effective in achieving marketing objectives and short-term business objectives. A cross-sectional study was carried out, with samples from Spain and Colombia, starting from a total of 400 surveys, a game based on the Nash Theory was proposed, having as a more important result, regardless of the type of email received by the client, the last action of the client will be marked as 'spam'. Likewise, differences were found by country and by gender depending on the type of product and no conclusive differences were found on which type of communication (promotional or differential) is better received by the client

    Effective stability of the Trojan asteroids

    We study the spatial circular restricted problem of three bodies in the light of Nekhoroshev theory of stability over large time intervals. We consider in particular the Sun-Jupiter model and the Trojan asteroids in the neighborhood of the Lagrangian point L4L_4. We find a region of effective stability around the point L4L_4 such that if the initial point of an orbit is inside this region the orbit is confined in a slightly larger neighborhood of the equilibrium (in phase space) for a very long time interval. By combining analytical methods and numerical approximations we are able to prove that stability over the age of the universe is guaranteed on a realistic region, big enough to include one real asteroid. By comparing this result with the one obtained for the planar problem we see that the regions of stability in the two cases are of the same magnitude.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figures, Astronomy & Astrophysics in pres

    SR-2: A Hybrid Algorithm for the Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem

    During the last decades a lot of work has been devoted to develop algorithms that can provide near-optimal solutions for the capacitated vehicle routing problem (CVRP). Most of these algorithms are designed to minimize an objective function, subject to a set of constraints, which typically represents aprioristic costs. This approach provides adequate theoretical solutions, but they do not always fit real-life needs since there are some important costs and some routing constraints or desirable properties that cannot be easily modeled. In this paper, we present a new approach which combines the use of Monte Carlo simulation and parallel and grid computing techniques to provide a set of alternative solutions to the CVRP. This allows the decision-maker to consider multiple solution characteristics other than just aprioristic costs. Therefore, our methodology offers more flexibility during the routing selection process, which may help to improve the quality of service offered to clients

    Phase-Space Volume of Regions of Trapped Motion: Multiple Ring Components and Arcs

    The phase--space volume of regions of regular or trapped motion, for bounded or scattering systems with two degrees of freedom respectively, displays universal properties. In particular, sudden reductions in the phase-space volume or gaps are observed at specific values of the parameter which tunes the dynamics; these locations are approximated by the stability resonances. The latter are defined by a resonant condition on the stability exponents of a central linearly stable periodic orbit. We show that, for more than two degrees of freedom, these resonances can be excited opening up gaps, which effectively separate and reduce the regions of trapped motion in phase space. Using the scattering approach to narrow rings and a billiard system as example, we demonstrate that this mechanism yields rings with two or more components. Arcs are also obtained, specifically when an additional (mean-motion) resonance condition is met. We obtain a complete representation of the phase-space volume occupied by the regions of trapped motion.Comment: 19 pages, 17 figure

    A Semi-Analytic Algorithm for Constructing Lower Dimensional Elliptic Tori in Planetary Systems

    We adapt the Kolmogorov's normalization algorithm (which is the key element of the original proof scheme of the KAM theorem) to the construction of a suitable normal form related to an invariant elliptic torus. As a byproduct, our procedure can also provide some analytic expansions of the motions on elliptic tori. By extensively using algebraic manipulations on a computer, we explicitly apply our method to a planar four-body model not too different with respect to the real Sun--Jupiter--Saturn--Uranus system. The frequency analysis method allows us to check that our location of the initial conditions on an invariant elliptic torus is really accurate.Comment: 31 pages, 4 figure
