The role of Islamic Higher Education in strengthening the Halal ecosystem in Indonesia

This study examines the role of Islamic tertiary institutions in strengthening the halal ecosystem in Indonesia through the establishment and operation of Halal Centers. These centers, acting as Halal Inspection Agencies (LPHs), are expected to significantly impact halalization efforts by integrating scientific knowledge with Islamic values, ultimately serving as hubs for halal studies. Through qualitative research on Halal Centers at five State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN), this study analyzes the individual contributions of each institution to generalize their collective role. The findings reveal that these institutions make significant contributions to the advancement of halal potential in Indonesia through three key roles: (a) developing human resources through the establishment and operationalization of Halal Centers; (b) increasing access to halal certification by functioning as LPHs, thereby incentivizing wider adoption of halal standards among businesses; and (c) promoting halal product research and business incubation, particularly for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). These universities, leveraging their infrastructure, human resources, and expertise, are positioned to pioneer innovation and research within the halal sector. Furthermore, practical initiatives undertaken by these institutions include disseminating information on halal certification to MSME stakeholders and assisting with Halal Product Process (PPH) implementation

Peran perguruan tinggi Islam dalam mengembangkan potensi halal di Indonesia

This paper examines the role of Islamic tertiary institutions in the process of halalization in Indonesia. Since the promulgation of law no. 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Guarantee (UU JPH), products circulating in Indonesia must have a halal certificate. This poses a new challenge for halal stake holders in Indonesia. In the process of halal certification, the Halal Inspection Agency (LPH) is one of the most important elements. However, at least LPHs are officially established, making the acceleration of halalization in Indonesia slow. The establishment of a Halal Center at an Islamic university as an LPH is expected to have a significant impact on halalization in Indonesia which is then believed to become a center for halal studies that brings together science and Islamic values

The purpose of the research and assistance carried out in Sidomukti Village, Kenduruan Sub-District, Tuban District was to make farmers independent for seed sovereignty, production sovereignty, and market sovereignty. The method used was Participatory Action Research. The results obtained are that agriculture is a very crucial field in the lives of Indonesian people. Therefore, the number of innovations and assistance carried out to build or increase agricultural capacity is absolutely necessary. In addition, collaboration between parties will be very helpful in the process of independence in the agricultural sector, both in the fields of seeds, production, and markets. For further researchers and assistants, it is hoped that they can carry out more in-depth research, this is because the research and assistance carried out is only in a fairly short time, so that the implementation evaluation process cannot be carried out optimally. In addition, collaboration from multi stakeholders continues to provide further assistance, especially in collaboration with government agencies, where one of the missions carried out by the current Regent is to increase the added value of the agricultural sector widely, where one of the work programs is one village. one priority, village cooperation, logistical support, and strengthening food security. So that multi-stakeholder cooperation will be established in Sidomukti Village. &nbsp

sPlot - a new tool for global vegetation analyses

Aims: Vegetation-plot records provide information on the presence and cover or abundance of plants co-occurring in the same community. Vegetation-plot data are spread across research groups, environmental agencies and biodiversity research centers and, thus, are rarely accessible at continental or global scales. Here we present the sPlot database, which collates vegetation plots worldwide to allow for the exploration of global patterns in taxonomic, functional and phylogenetic diversity at the plant community level. Results: sPlot version 2.1 contains records from 1,121,244 vegetation plots, which comprise 23,586,216 records of plant species and their relative cover or abundance in plots collected worldwide between 1885 and 2015. We complemented the information for each plot by retrieving climate and soil conditions and the biogeographic context (e.g., biomes) from external sources, and by calculating community-weighted means and variances of traits using gap-filled data from the global plant trait database TRY. Moreover, we created a phylogenetic tree for 50,167 out of the 54,519 species identified in the plots. We present the first maps of global patterns of community richness and community-weighted means of key traits. Conclusions: The availability of vegetation plot data in sPlot offers new avenues for vegetation analysis at the global scale
