An intelligent balance
This paper discusses the intelligent balance, which has been established between real and virtual experiments and it also gives skills that have not covered in conventional electronics and communication engineering. Engineering is the art of applying scientific and mathematical principles, experience, judgment and common sense to make things that benefit people. The explosive growth of computer capabilities and easy access to nanominiature devices has revolutionized communication and the analysis of complex systems. The EC engineer either individually or as a member of a team, can play an important role in this technical diverse mosaic and this community prepares to adapt frequency shifts in technical priorities. EC engineers should be given computers hand-on-practice and training and also should understand the physics of the problem and fundamental theorem.IEE

With the e-letter of the Rector dated December 1, 2014 our term as editors of this journal has come to an end. That it had been 11 years since the start of this task seemed unreal; seemed unreal as we were a group working in harmo-ny, each member sharing high aca-demic standards and objectivity. During this period indexing/abstracting of the journal increased from 1 to 7 in number and thus it became important for the academia to publish in Dogus Journal for academic promotions. Further statistics regarding the journal are listed in Table 1.Rektörün 1 Aralık 2014 günlü e-mektubuyla bu dergideki editörlük görevimizin sona erdiğini öğrenmiş bulunuyoruz.

CMOS realization of a quantized-output classifier circuit
In this paper a CMOS implementation of a multi-input data classifier with several output levels and a different architecture is presented. The proposed circuit operates in current-mode and can classify several types of analog vector data. The classifier circuit’s new architecture consists of the interconnections of core cells each possessing a current-voltage converter, an inverter followed by a NOR gate and a voltage-current output stage. Using 0.35µm TSMC technology parameters, SPICE simulation results for a classifier with two inputs are included to verify the expected results
Optimized fractional-order Butterworth filter design in complex F-plane
This paper introduces a new technique to optimally design the fractional-order Butterworth low-pass filter in the complex F-plane. Design stability is assured by incorporating the critical phase angle as an inequality constraint. The poles of the proposed approximants reside on the unit circle in the stable region of the F-plane. The improved accuracy of the suggested scheme as compared to the recently published literature is demonstrated. A mixed-integer genetic algorithm which considers the parallel combinations of resistors and capacitors for the Valsa network is used to optimize the frequency responses of the fractional-order capacitor emulators as part of the experimental verification using the Sallen–Key filter topology. The total harmonic distortion and spurious-free dynamic range of the practical 1.5th-order Butterwoth filter are measured as 0.13% and 62.18 dBc, respectively; the maximum and mean absolute relative magnitude errors are 0.03929 and 0.02051, respectively.Publisher's VersionQ1WOS:00085474580000

Potential anomaly separation and archeological site localization using genetically trained multi-level cellular neural networks
In this paper, a supervised algorithm for the evaluation of geophysical sites using a multi-level cellular neural network (ML-CNN) is introduced, developed, and applied to real data. ML-CNN is a stochastic image processing technique based on template optimization using neighborhood relationships of the pixels. The separation/enhancement and border detection performance of the proposed method is evaluated by various interesting real applications. A genetic algorithm is used in the optimization of CNN templates. The first application is concerned with the separation of potential field data of the Dumluca chromite region, which is one of the rich reserves of Turkey; in this context, the classical approach to the gravity anomaly separation method is one of the main problems in geophysics. The other application is the border detection of archeological ruins of the Hittite Empire in Turkey. The Hittite civilization sites located at the Sivas-Altinyayla region of Turkey are among the most important archeological sites in history, one reason among others being that written documentation was first produced by this civilization
A Fractional-Order Transitional Butterworth-Butterworth Filter and Its Experimental Validation
This paper introduces the generalization of the classical Transitional Butterworth-Butterworth Filter (TBBF) to the Fractional-Order (FO) domain. Stable rational approximants of the FO-TBBF are optimally realized. Several design examples demonstrate the robustness and modeling efficacy of the proposed method. Practical circuit implementation using the current feedback operational amplifier employed as an active element is presented. Experimental results endorse good agreement (R2= 0.999968) with the theoretical magnitude-frequency characteristic
A new differential configuration suitable for realization of high CMRR, all-pass/notch filters
#yayıncısurumuyok# ; Tam metin hakemden geçmiş kopyadır.In this paper, a new configuration suitable for realization of differential input-differential output first order, second order all-pass and notch filters with high CMRR is given. The proposed configuration uses two negative type second-generation current conveyors (CCII-), and three admittances. Two first order and one second order all-pass filters and a notch filter (tunable if current controlled conveyor CCCII is used) are extracted from the proposed configuration. Tracking error, element mismatch, sensitivity analysis, simulation and experimental results are included
