Association among SNAP-25 gene DdeI and MnlI polymorphisms and hemodynamic changes during methylphenidate use: A functional near-infrared spectroscopy study

    Get PDF
Objective: To investigate the interaction of treatment-related hemodynamic changes with genotype status for Synaptosomal associated protein 25 (SNAP-25) gene in participants with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) on and off single dose short-acting methylphenidate treatment with functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). Method: A total of 15 right-handed adults and 16 right-handed children with DSM-IV diagnosis of ADHD were evaluated. Ten milligrams of short-acting methylphenidate was administered in a crossover design. Results: Participants with SNAP-25 DdeI T/T genotype had decreased right deoxyhemoglobin ([HHb]) with treatment. SNAP-25 MnlI genotype was also associated with right deoxyhemoglobin ([HbO2]) and [HHb] changes as well as left [HHb] change. When the combinations of these genotypes were taken into account, the participants with [DdeI C/C or T/C and MnlI G/G or T/G] genotype had increased right [HHb] with MPH use whereas the participants with [DdeI T/T and MnlI T/T] or [DdeI T/T and MnlI G/G or T/G] genotypes had decreased right prefrontal [HHb]. Conclusions: These results suggested that SNAP-25 polymorphism might be associated with methylphenidate induced brain hemodynamic changes in ADHD participants. © 2011 SAGE Publications

Investigation of the physical properties of meltblown nonwovens for air filtration

    No full text
Textile filters are industrial textiles used in filtration applications. Among textile materials, especially nonwovens are suitable for filtration applications, because of their complex structures and appropriate thickness. Nonwoven filters are used in various application areas of technical textiles such as medtech, mobiltech, protech, packtech and hometech. Meltblown nonwovens are a unique class of materials, characterized by high surface are, porosity, softness and absorbency due to their microstructure. In this study polypropylene meltblown nonwovens were produced for the purpose of air filtration. Physical properties, namely thickness, basis weight, tensile properties, air permeability, and fibre diameter of were measured and effect of various production parameters on the physical properties of PP meltblown nonwovens were investigated and possibility for using such materials in air filtration was discussed

Distribution of Natural Radioactivity from 40K\text{}^{40}K Radioelement in Volcanics of Sandıklı-Şuhut (Afyon) Area

Many radioactive elements have existed when the Earth had appeared and the long living of them are still present. One of the most important of these radioactive elements is 40K\text{}^{40}K. It makes about 0.012% of total content of K, widely represented in many different rocks. In this study the distribution of the natural 40K\text{}^{40}K radioelement in the volcanics of the south part of Afyon was investigated. Gamma-ray spectrometer was used for in-situ measurements of this radioelement concentration. Studied area has covered approximately 1800 km². In-situ measurements were performed at 1390 different locations in this field. Data for each measurement was gathered during 3 min. The map of the ^{40}K element distribution in the studied area was produced. The high values of 40K\text{}^{40}K, according to this map, were obtained in the areas of the alteration zones, between Sandıklı and Şuhut in the studied area

State support of the real sector of the economy: Legal regulation

    No full text
The problem of state support for business is the most important in today’s conditions. The cataclysms that have occurred recently have affected the world economy. The world has ceased to be balanced. Business froze in fear of inevitable bankruptcy, unemployment and ruin. Political changes in Russia, which began in January 2020, the drop in oil prices, the collapse of the ruble, which followed the relative stability of the Russian national currency and reached the pandemic country, negatively affected business in the country. The development of urgent state measures to support small and medium-sized enterprises is the only way to maintain its viability. These measures should be based on a clear regulatory framework that does not allow vague interpretations and legal incidents. Using the comparative legal method, it is necessary to draw the experience of those countries in which there is a state policy in relation to small and medium-sized businesses, which is a system of socio-economic actions built on the principle of ensuring the favorable development of this sector of the economy and to develop measures that can preserve it in conditions of prevailing force majeure. The aim of this work is a comparative analysis of measures taken by the world community and Russia to support small and medium-sized businesses during the economic crisis caused by Covid19. Particular attention is paid to the legislative justification of measures taken in Russia and the identification of shortcomings of the newly adopted normative legal acts

Animal exploitation at the Olympos, southwestern Anatolia: Zooarchaeological analysis

    No full text
This study presents analysis of animal remains unearthed from 2006 to 2021 excavations at Olympos, an important city of ancient Lycia, southwestern Turkey. Seven faunal assemblages were unearthed from seven distinct areas of the city. Each of them was studied according to their distinct archaeological contexts. The zooarchaeological observation was based on taxonomic identification, species diversity, kill-off patterns, nature of bone modification, including taphonomic and anthropogenic marks, and type of species exploitation at the site. The results demonstrated that the majority of the specimens were consumption residues, comprising mainly of ungulate and carnivore mammals, birds and marine fish and mollusks. Goat remains were the most common in all the assemblages, which is consistent with common animal exploitation patterns in Anatolia. Fish bones mostly represented bonito (Sarda sarda), tuna (Thunnus thynnus) and shark (Carcharhinidae sp.). Among the mollusks, the shells of Triton trumpet, rarely found in the Roman-Byzantine Anatolia, were clearly used as trumpets. As Olympos was an important harbour with a strategic location by the Mediterranean Sea, its faunal remains shed new light on the coastal dietary habbit, animal economy, and cultural contacts in the Roman and Early Byzantine periods in Anatolia

Psychopathology in emerging adults in seven countries: Impact of identity-related risk factors [Psychopathologie bei jungen Erwachsenen aus sieben Ländern: Einfluss identitätsbezogener Risikofaktoren]

    No full text
The study examined the influence of culture and gender on psychopathology after controlling for identity-related risk factors. A total of 2113 young adults from 7 countries (France, Germany, Poland, Greece, Turkey, Peru and Pakistan) answered a questionnaire on symptom burden, identity development and family relationships. After controlling for identity-related risk factors (e. g. identity development, maternal upbringing styles), the strong country effect on symptom burden disappeared. While there were practically no gender effects in western countries, in countries such as Peru, Pakistan, Poland and Turkey men reported significantly higher symptom burdens than women. In accordance with DSM-5, a weakening of the cultural effect and a certain universality of mental symptoms was found with a clear interaction between country × and gender. New is the greater vulnerability of men in some countries. © 2018, Springer Medizin Verlag GmbH, ein Teil von Springer Nature
