Interactive media support the creation ofpeople- centered systems that can clarify and simplify the coordination ofhuman action. For interactive media to succeed, they ne- ed to fit gracefully into the lives oftheir users. Therefore, the purpose ofthis research is to determine possible criteria to evaluate the interactive media with special reference to multimedia. Many native and foreigner companies produce multimedia based softuoare. CD market has been developing very fast. Multimedia productions have to be examined with user centered, multi disciplinary frame, and the evaluation model must be set like other information resources have been set. While setting up this evaluation model basic consideration must have content that meets the user needs.Etkileşimli bilgi kaynaklan insanı temel almakta ve bilgi kullanımını kolaylaştırmaktadırlar. Bu araştırmanın amacı "multimedya” örneğinde etkileşimli bilgi kaynaklarını değerlendirecek unsurları ortaya çıkarmaktır. Birçok yerli ve yabancı şirket multimedya yazılımı üretmektedir. CD piyasası hızla gelişmektedir. Multimedya ürünlerinin kullanıcıyı temel alan değişik disiplinlerin oluşturduğu bilimsel bir çerçeve içerisinde incelenmesi ve bilgi merkezlerinde kullanılan diğer bilgi kaynakları gibi değerlendirme modelinin oluşturulması gerekmektedir. Electrochemical and chemical oxidation of S2COEt-, Ni(S2COEt)2, and [Ni(S2COEt)3]- have been studied by CV and in situ UV-VIS spectroscopy in acetonitrile. Cyclic voltammograms of S2COEt- and Ni(S2COEt)2 display one (0.00 V) and two (0.35 and 0.80 V) irreversible oxidation peaks, respectively, referenced to an Ag/Ag+ (0.10 M) electrode. However, the cyclic voltammogram of [Ni(S2COEt)3]- displays one reversible (-0.15 V) and two irreversible (0.35, 0.80 V) oxidation peaks, referenced to an Ag/Ag+ electrode. The low temperature EPR spectrum of the oxidatively electrolyzed solution of (NEt4)[Ni(S2COEt)3] indicates the presence of [NiIII(S2COEt)3], which disproportionates to Ni(S2COEt)2, and the dimer of the oxidized ethylxanthate ligand, (S2COEt)2 ((S2COEt)2=C2H5OC(S)SS(S)COC 2H5), with a second order rate law. The final products of constant potential electrolysis at the first oxidation peak potentials of S2COEt-, Ni(S2COEt)2, and [Ni(S2COEt)3]- are (S2COEt)2; Ni2+ (sol) and (S2COEt)2; and Ni(S2COEt)2 and (S2COEt)2, respectively. The chemical oxidation of S2COEt- to (S2COEt)2, and [Ni(S2COEt)3]- to (S2COEt)2 and Ni(S2COEt)2 were also achieved with iodine. The oxidized ligand in the dimer form can be reduced to S2COEt- with CN- in solution

Stronger prejudices are associated with decreased model-based control

Background: Prejudices against minorities can be understood as habitually negative evaluations that are kept in spite of evidence to the contrary. Therefore, individuals with strong prejudices might be dominated by habitual or "automatic" reactions at the expense of more controlled reactions. Computational theories suggest individual differences in the balance between habitual/model-free and deliberative/model-based decision-making. Methods: 127 subjects performed the two Step task and completed the blatant and subtle prejudice scale. Results: By using analyses of choices and reaction times in combination with computational modeling, subjects with stronger blatant prejudices showed a shift away from model-based control. There was no association between these decision-making processes and subtle prejudices. Conclusion: These results support the idea that blatant prejudices toward minorities are related to a relative dominance of habitual decision-making. This finding has important implications for developing interventions that target to change prejudices across societies

Peer relations linking overweight and obesity, and mediator factors among Turkish adolescents

Depending on the individual’s body height and frame structure and body weight, obesity is considered both as a socially accepted norm in a society and as exceeding the accepted upper limits. The present study aimed to determine the associations between overweight and obesity, peer relationships, and nutritional and physical activity behaviour among Turkish adolescents. A cross-sectional study was conducted in Ankara, and the sample consisted of 402 adolescents (171 boys and 231 girls) aged between 12 and 17 years. A physical examination was conducted to collect anthropometric measurements (height, weight, BMI, and body fat using bio-impedance analysis), and detailed information was collected on adolescents’ behaviour (Peer Relationship Scale with four sub-scales of commitment, trust and identification, self-disclosure, and loyalty), diet (24h recall dietary questionnaire), physical activity, self-reported weight, parental attitudes, and socio-economic circumstances. BMI was evaluated using IOTF cut-off points, and simple mediation analyses were performed using ordinary least squares path analysis by the PROCESS macro for SPSS. The results showed that according to the weight status by BMI using IOTF cut-offs, thinness was more prominent in girls (9.5%), overweight was higher in girls (19%), while obesity was higher in boys (8.8%). Total body fat percentage was found to be higher in girls in all weight groups (p < 0.001). The Peer Relationship Scale and, commitment, self-disclosure, and loyalty sub-scales were found to be statistically significant (p < 0.001); girls tend to have higher scores except for the loyalty sub- scale. According to the results, self-reported and actual weight differences were found to be significant in both sexes (p < 0.001), and among IOTF weight groups overweight girls tended to report their weight approximately 2 kg lower than their actual weight and obese girls more than 5 kg lower. In conclusion, the mediation analysis showed that fat percentage, self-reported weight difference, and BMI were significant predictors of Peer Relationship Score where fat percentage partially mediated the relationship between the Peer Relationship Scale and BMI, and full mediation effect of self-reported weight difference was also significant. The relation of the high level of fat accumulation and overweight/obesity with Peer Relationship Scores and its sub-domains should be carefully monitored
