    The effects of mixed fat in broiler rations on the performance in summer seasons

    Bu çalısma, yaz aylarında farklı köken ve düzeylerde yag katılan rasyonların etlik piliçlerde canlı agırlık, canlı agırlık artısı, yem tüketimi ve yemden yararlanma üzerine etkilerini incelemek amacıyla yapılmıstır. Bu arada, piliçlerin yem tüketimi ve performansı üzerine olası etkilerine ısık tutmak üzere, kümes içi sıcaklıgı ve bagıl nem degerleri de haftalık olarak ölçülmüstür. Yag kökenlerine göre hayvanların genel performansı degerlendirildiginde; yem tüketimi dısında, canlı agırlık, canlı agırlık artısı ve yemden yararlanma açısından rasyon grupları arasında önemli farklılık bulunmustur (P<0.01).Yag düzeylerine göre degerlendirmede ise farklılık önemli çıkmamıstır.This research has been carried out to determine the effects of rations with different fat origins and levels on live weight, live weight gain, feed consumption and feed conversion ratio of broilers in summer seasons. Besides, indoor temperature and relative humudity values of poultry house have also been measured weekly in order to determine their possible effects on the feed consumption and performance of broiler. When overall performance of the broilers regarding fat origins within first six weeks is assessed, it is found that there is a significant difference between ration groups for live weight, live weight gain and feed conversion ratio values (P<0.01).When assessed regarding fat levels, there is no significant difference statistically

    A genomic snapshot of demographic and cultural dynamism in Upper Mesopotamia during the Neolithic Transition

    Upper Mesopotamia played a key role in the Neolithic Transition in Southwest Asia through marked innovations in symbolism, technology, and foodways. We present thirteen ancient genomes (c.8500-7500 calBCE) from Pre-Pottery Neolithic Çayönü in the Tigris basin together with bioarchaeological and material culture data. Our findings reveal that Çayönü was a genetically diverse population, carrying a mixed ancestry from western and eastern Fertile Crescent, and that the community received immigrants. Our results further suggest that the community was organised along biological family lines. We document bodily interventions such as head-shaping and cauterization among the individuals examined, reflecting Çayönü's cultural ingenuity. Finally, we identify Upper Mesopotamia as the likely source of eastern gene flow into Neolithic Anatolia, in line with material culture evidence. We hypothesise that Upper Mesopotamia's cultural dynamism during the Neolithic Transition was the product not only of its fertile lands but also of its interregional demographic connections

    Survival results according to Oncotype Dx recurrence score in patients with hormone receptor positive HER-2 negative early-stage breast cancer: first multicenter Oncotype Dx recurrence score survival data of Turkey

    BackgroundThe Oncotype Dx recurrence score (ODx-RS) guides the adjuvant chemotherapy decision-making process for patients with early-stage hormone receptor-positive, HER-2 receptor-negative breast cancer. This study aimed to evaluate survival and its correlation with ODx-RS in pT1-2, N0-N1mic patients treated with adjuvant therapy based on tumor board decisions.Patients and methodsEstrogen-positive HER-2 negative early-stage breast cancer patients (pT1-2 N0, N1mic) with known ODx-RS, operated on between 2010 and 2014, were included in this study. The primary aim was to evaluate 5-year disease-free survival (DFS) rates according to ODX-RS.ResultsA total of 203 eligible patients were included in the study, with a median age of 48 (range 26-75) and median follow-up of 84 (range 23-138) months. ROC curve analysis for all patients revealed a recurrence cut-off age of 45 years, prompting evaluation by grouping patients as ≤45 years vs. &gt;45 years. No significant difference in five-year DFS rates was observed between the endocrine-only (ET) and chemo-endocrine (CE) groups. However, among the ET group, DFS was higher in patients over 45 years compared to those aged ≤45 years. When stratifying by ODx-RS as 0-17 and ≥18, DFS was significantly higher in the former group within the ET group. However, such differences were not seen in the CE group. In the ET group, an ODx-RS ≥18 and menopausal status were identified as independent factors affecting survival, with only an ODx-RS ≥18 impacting DFS in patients aged ≤45 years. The ROC curve analysis for this subgroup found the ODx-RS cut-off to be 18.ConclusionThis first multicenter Oncotype Dx survival analysis in Turkey demonstrates the importance of Oncotype Dx recurrence score and age in determining treatment strategies for early-stage breast cancer patients. As a different aproach to the literature, our findings suggest that the addition of chemotherapy to endocrine therapy in young patients (≤45 years) with Oncotype Dx recurrence scores of ≥18 improves DFS

    Comparison of artifact values of prosthodontic materials with 2 different cone beam computed tomography devices

    Statement of problem. Prosthodontic materials may cause unexpected artifacts in cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images, but studies quantifying these artifacts are sparse. Purpose. The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the artifact expression of fixed prosthodontic materials with different CBCT devices. Material and methods. Ten prosthodontic materials (Co-Cr-Mo alloy, interim acrylic resin, polyetheretherketone, feldspathic ceramic, lithium disilicate glass-ceramic, zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate ceramic, zircon core, and 3 monolithic zirconias) were scanned with 2 CBCT devices. The materials were placed in polymethyl methacrylate resin to simulate clinical conditions. To assess the impact of the devices on artifacts, the gray values of 8 areas in each material image were analyzed. The data were analyzed with the Kruskal-Wallis and Wilcoxon Signed-Rank tests (α=.05). Results. Statistically significant differences were found in the artifact expression of the materials (P<.001) and between CBCT devices (P<.001). Conclusions. The artifact expression of polymeric and ceramic materials in CBCT images was less than that of other materials. The milliampere-second (mAs) value of CBCT devices had a significant impact on the artifact level.Statement of problem.     Isolated Superior Mesenteric Vein Tumor Thrombus in a Patient with Gastric Cancer

    Tumor thrombus in the portal vein can rarely originate from gastric cancer via hematogenous spread, with only few case reports published in the literature. Isolated superior mesenteric vein tumor thrombus in gastric cancer has not been previously reported. A 61-year-old male patient who had undergone distal gastrectomy and gastroenterostomy for gastric ulcer 20 years ago was diagnosed with an obstructive tumor originating from the gastroenterostomy anastomosis site on upper gastrointestinal endoscopy that was performed for complaints of fatigue, oral feeding problems, and anemia. The PET-CT imaging revealed a hypermetabolic mass in the gastroenterostomy region along with hypermetabolic suspected tumor thrombus in the superior mesenteric vein (SMV). A suspected tumor thrombus with contrast enhancement that completely obstructed the SMV was detected on triphasic abdominal computed tomography. Decision for surgery was made due to gastric tumor obstruction. Firstly, lesions suspected with tumor thrombus were extirpated from the SMV and sent to frozen section. Then, it was completely recanalized. A locally advanced tumor originating from the gastroenterostomy anastomosis site that totally obliterated the lumen was observed on surgical exploration. After proving tumor thrombus by frozen, near-total gastrectomy was performed for palliative purposes. Histopathologic examination of the specimen showed gastric invasive adenocarcinoma and tumor thrombi in the SMV (T4N2M1). The patient received adjuvant chemotherapy, and he is at his 22nd-month follow-up with extensive hepatic metastases and intra-abdominal disease. It should be kept in mind that gastric cancer may lead to portal vein tumor thrombus or that it may rarely be associated with an isolated SMV tumor thrombus, both of which are associated with poor prognosis
