This report is the result of a master thesis work for the Industrial design engineering programme at Lulea University of Technology conducted during the spring of 2012. This project was carried out in collaboration with Semcon AB on their automotive and design branch at the head office in Gothenburg, Sweden. The purpose of this project was to develop an interior of an electrically powered three wheeled concept vehicle named Trio concept. The concept was made by Semcons design department and had, at the start of this project an exterior but lacked interior parts. In theory, this concept is supposed to be launched within a few years as an environmentally friendly vehicle for a daily commuting need within a big city. Visually, the Trio concept had deliberately been given a futuristic design to differentiate itself from today’s fossil-fueled vehicles. The vehicle would be able to accommodate two adults and able to run without a B license or protective clothing while offering comfort and protection from the elements. In the startup of the project a project plan was established determining the project content and objective. This was to eliminate the risk of misunderstandings within the project team and to make sure that the project team agreed. The project started with a thorough preliminary investigation in which an intended customer target was identified and the vehicle's primary use was surveyed. While existing competitors in the form of present vehicles and developed concepts were examined in a benchmark. To provide guidance, several mood boards were fashioned prior to the creative work. The project then went into a creative phase which initially dealt with the overall layout of the interior and later move on to focus on separate components. These concept components were developed through exploratory sketching, brain storming, workshops, etc., and evaluated carefully before further development. Furthermore a mock-up was created to perform ergonomic tests on critical components to determine the dimensions and adjustment regions before the components were re-created as surface models in Autodesk Alias. The result is an exciting, smart and aesthetically pleasing interior with features and technology that makes The Trio concept a truly unique vehicle. The technical systems are described in the results section along with photo-realistic renderings of the interior mounted in the exterior.Validerat; 20120710 (anonymous

Risk of Ischemic Stroke After Acute Myocardial Infarction in Patients Undergoing Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery

Only sparse epidemiological data are available regarding the risk of ischemic stroke (IS) after coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG). Here we aimed to describe the incidence and predictors of IS associated with CABG performed after acute myocardial infarction (AMI), as well as trends over time. We analyzed data for 248,925 unselected AMI patients. We separately analyzed groups of patients who underwent CABG early or late after the index infarction. IS incidence rates per year at risk were 15.8% (95% confidence interval, 14.5-17.1) and 10.9% (10.6-11.2), respectively, among patients with and without CABG in the early cohort, and 4.0% (3.5-4.5) and 2.3% (2.2-2.3), respectively, among patients with and without CABG in the late cohort. Predictors of post-AMI IS included prior IS, CABG, prior atrial fibrillation, prior hemorrhagic stroke, heart failure during hospitalization, older age, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension. Reduced IS risk was associated with use of statins and P2Y12 inhibitors. IS incidence markedly decreased among patients who did not undergo CABG, while no such reduction over time occurred among those who underwent CABG. This emphasizes the need to optimize modifiable risk factors and to consistently use treatments that may reduce IS risk among CABG patients

International audiencePercutaneous image-guided oncologic interventions have rapidly evolved over the last two decades as an independent strategy or used within a first-, second-, or even third-line strategy in the treatment of musculoskeletal (MSK) tumors. Abundant mostly nonrandomized publications have described the safety, efficacy, and reproducibility of implementing percutaneous therapies both with curative and palliative intent. In this article, we continue to share our experience in bone and MSK soft tissue interventions focusing on stabilization and combined ablation and stabilization. We propose a pathway and explore future directions of image-guided interventional oncology related to skeletal disease. We reflect on the advantages and limitations of each technique and offer guidance and pearls to improve outcomes. Representing patterns from our practices, we demonstrate the role of collaborative working within a multidisciplinary team, ideally within a dedicated tumor treatment center, to deliver patient-specific therapy plans that are value based and favored by patients when given the choice

ESSR consensus document for detection, characterization, and referral pathway for tumors and tumorlike lesions of bone

Benign bone tumors are rare but are more common than primary malignant bone tumors. The early accurate diagnosis and reliable differentiation of these rare benign tumors and tumor mimickers from the even rarer malignant tumors with subsequent appropriate treatment or watchful waiting is crucial for the clinical outcome. Bone tumors are often a source of diagnostic and therapeutic uncertainty. Thus this European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology consensus document is intended to help radiologists in their decision making and support discussion among clinicians who deal with patients with suspected or proven bone tumors. Evaluating these tumors starts with a patient history and physical examination. Radiography is the principal imaging modality and often can reliably diagnose a benign bone tumor by providing information about localization, matrix, aggressiveness, size, and (potential) multiplicity. In a significant number of cases, additional imaging is not necessary. Potentially malignant entities recognized by radiography should be referred for magnetic resonance imaging, which also serves as a preoperative local staging modality, with specific technical requirements. Indeterminate tumors, or tumors in which therapy depends on histology results, should be biopsied. For biopsy, we strongly recommend referral to a specialist regional sarcoma treatment center (RSTC), where a multidisciplinary tumor team, including a specialist pathologist, radiologist, and sarcoma surgeon, are involved. Additional staging modalities are entity specific and should be performed according to the recommendations of the RSTC
