    An Analysis of Labor Market Adaptation Status and Landing Outcome of Apprentices

    This research aims to analyse labor market adaptation status and landing outcome of apprentices. Based on this, it tries to provide policy suggestions for apprentices’ better adaption and soft landing on the labor market. This research mainly uses the methods of literature review, survey, Focus Group Interview (FGI), expert meeting, and seminar. There are 7 main results in regard to labor market adaptation and 5 main results related to labor market landing outcome as below. 1) Labor market adaptation status of apprentices ?The level of apprentices’ adaptation to organization and job duty has positive correlation with the level of organizational support to apprentices. ?It is important to provide apprentices with mentoring with an in-company trainer and give them opportunities to make suggestions for their adaptation to organization and duty. ?If on-the-job training is led by an in-company trainer based on job duty on industrial site, job application possibilities and job performing abilities becomes higher. ?If on-the-job and off-the-job training are systematically related focusing on job duty, job application possibilities and job performing abilities becomes higher. ?It is significant to use OJT learning tools related with job duty for the improvement of job application possibilities and job performing abilities. ?If systematic evaluation and feedback in regard to learning results is conducted, job application possibilities and job performing abilities becomes higher. ?The system of objectively evaluating the level of the improvement of apprentices’ job performing abilities does not exist yet. ..

    The effect of climate change adaptation strategies on bean yield in central and northern Uganda

    This paper analyses the impact of adaptation to climate change on bean productivity on a micro-scale using instrumental variable techniques in a two-stage econometric model, using data collected from farming households in northern and central Uganda. We employed the bivariate probit technique to model simultaneous and interdependent adoption decisions, and the ordered probit to model the intensity of adaptation. We modelled the impact of adaptation using instrumental variables and the control function approach because of the potential endogeneity of the adaptation decision. The driving forces behind adoption of the two selected adaptation strategies were heterogeneous. Location-specific factors influenced the intensity of adaptation between the two study regions. The effect of adaptation was stronger for households that used a higher number of strategies, evidence that the two adaptation strategies need to be used simultaneously by farmers to maximise the positive impact of adaptation

    Estudo experimental do comportamento ocular em trabalhadores administrativos como um indicador de conforto visual em situação de risco de encadeamento

    The daylight impact on the visual environment is fundamental on visual display terminal work (VDT). Visual performance and visual comfort should be considered for equal. The study (n=16) was performed at the experimental lighting laboratory. Office work with VDT was evaluated using STROOP task in two orientations: (with/without solar presence in the visual field). Our hypothesis states the existence of a relationship between ocular behavior and visual comfort of workers. An eye-tracker was employed in order to record the ocular gestural parameters: blinks, direction of gaze, eye aperture (Degree of eye?s openness) and pupil size, which were correlated with the vertical illuminance at the eye. Visual comfort was assessed with Glare Sensation Vote. Results indicate a strong negative linear correlation between eye illuminance and the degree of eye?s openness in the direct sunlight scenario (p=-0.636; s=0.008) and in diffuse light scenario (p=-0.661; s=0.005), that could be the main predictor of visual discomfort. This experiment allowed us to explore eye behavior patterns that could be visual comfort indices under glare risk situations.O impacto a luz do dia no ambiente visual é fundamental para o trabalho no Ecrã de Visualização de Dados (EDV). Desempenho visual e conforto visual devem ser considerados em igual. O estudo (n = 16) foi realizado no laboratório experimental de iluminação. O trabalho de escritório com EDV foi avaliado utilizando a tarefa de Stroop em duas orientações: (com / sem presença solar no campo visual). A nossa hipótese afirma a existência de uma relação entre o comportamento ocular e conforto visual dos trabalhadores. Um “eye-tracker” foi desenvolvido para gravar os parâmetros gestuais oculares: pestanejar, direção do olhar, abertura dos olhos (Grau de abertura do olho) e tamanho da pupila, que foram correlacionados com a iluminância vertical no olho. Conforto visual foi avaliado com a escala de sensação de encadeamento. Os resultados indicam uma correlação linear negativa forte entre a luminosidade dos olhos e do grau de abertura de olho no cenário de luz solar direta (p = -0,636; s = 0,008) e no cenário de luz difusa (p = -0,661; s = 0,005), que poderia ser o principal preditor de desconforto visual.     A Study on the Workplace Adaptation of Middle-aged (Re-)employed Female Workers

    The purpose of this study is to analyze the job adjustment situation of middle-aged women who are (re-)entering the labor market after a long break of job career and may be experiencing conflicts in the process of their settlement in the new workplace. Most of previous studies about female labor market have focused on the causes and the impact of ‘career interruptions’ of female workers pointing out the social and personal problems caused by the withdrawal of married female workers due to burden of housekeeping and child-raising. However, another important issue except preventing such withdrawal of female workers is how to encourage the return or new entrance of middle-aged female workers who are out of the labor market for a while and to help them smoothly settling down in new working environments. In this respect, this study was conducted to gather basic information on workplace adaptation status of middle-aged (re-)employed women. Based on that information, several policy proposals were suggested as the ways of improving the labor market adaptation process of middle-aged female workers

    Designing an Algorithm for Students Impact on Social Adaptive Behavior in Political Education Context

    This study aimed to discuss the social adjustment behaviors of university students. The social adjustment behaviors of university students not only relate to their healthy development but also significantly affect social development., the ideological and political education model combines with the impact on social adaptation behaviors of university students. It optimizes the article algorithm design and creates a theoretical model in the field of social adaptation of university students. The articles limitation is that it was made with a sample of 966 subjects. The methodology involved statistical analysis of students social adaptation status, understanding the average and standard deviation of each dimension and the basic situation of their social adaptation. The average social adjustment index of university students was found to be m=3.68. Changes were observed in the interpersonal relationships of university students in all dimensions of adaptation to the future, learning adaptation, psychological adaptation, and environmental adaptation before and after graduation. In conclusion, this article depends on the analysis of the current state of students adaptation to society, the main personal and environmental factors in the life of university students, and based on the results of analysis and research, provides recommendations for relevant improvements

    Unstructured Grid Adaptation: Status, Potential Impacts, and Recommended Investments Towards CFD 2030

    International audienceUnstructured grid adaptation is a powerful tool to control Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) discretization error. It has enabled key increases in the accuracy, automation, and capacity of some fluid simulation applications. Slotnick et al. provide a number of case studies in the CFD Vision 2030 Study: A Path to Revolutionary Computational Aerosciences to illustrate the current state of CFD capability and capacity. The study authors forecast the potential impact of emerging High Performance Computing (HPC) environments forecast in the year 2030 and identify that mesh generation and adaptivity will continue to be significant bottlenecks in the CFD workflow. These bottlenecks may persist because very little government investment has been targeted in these areas. To motivate investment, the impacts of improved grid adaptation technologies are identified. The CFD Vision 2030 Study roadmap and anticipated capabilities in complementary disciplines are quoted to provide context for the progress made in grid adaptation in the past fifteen years, current status, and a forecast for the next fifteen years with recommended investments. These investments are specific to mesh adaptation and impact other aspects of the CFD process. Finally, a strategy is identified to di↵use grid adaptation technology into production CFD work flows

    Integrating Agriculture and Ecosystems to Find Suitable Adaptations to Climate Change

    Climate change is altering agricultural production and ecosystems around the world. Future projections indicate that additional change is expected in the coming decades, forcing individuals and communities to respond and adapt. Current research efforts typically examine climate change effects and possible adaptations but fail to integrate agriculture and ecosystems. This failure to jointly consider these systems and associated externalities may underestimate climate change impacts or cause adaptation implementation surprises, such as causing adaptation status of some groups or ecosystems to be worsened. This work describes and motivates reasons why ecosystems and agriculture adaptation require an integrated analytical approach. Synthesis of current literature and examples from Texas are used to explain concepts and current challenges. Texas is chosen because of its high agricultural output that is produced in close interrelationship with the surrounding semi-arid ecosystem. We conclude that future effect and adaptation analyses would be wise to jointly consider ecosystems and agriculture. Existing paradigms and useful methodology can be transplanted from the sustainable agriculture and ecosystem service literature to explore alternatives for climate adaptation and incentivization of private agriculturalists and consumers. Researchers are encouraged to adopt integrated modeling as a means to avoid implementation challenges and surprises when formulating and implementing adaptation

    Histidine nutrition and genotype affect cataract development in Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar L.

    The aim of this study was to investigate effects of dietary levels of histidine (His) and iron (Fe) on cataract development in two strains of Atlantic salmon monitored through parr-smolt transformation. Three experimental diets were fed: (i) a control diet (CD) with 110 mg kg-1 Fe and 11.7 g kg-1 His; (ii) CD supplemented with crystalline His to a level of 18 g kg-1 (HD); and (iii) HD with added iron up to 220 mg kg-1 (HID). A cross-over design, with two feeding periods was used. A 6-week freshwater (FW) period was followed by a 20-week period, of which the first three were in FW and the following 17 weeks in sea water (SW). Fish were sampled for weighing, cataract assessment and tissue analysis at five time points. Cataracts developed in all groups in SW, but scores were lower in those fed high His diets (P < 0.05). This effect was most pronounced when HD or HID was given in SW, but was also observed when these diets were given in FW only. Histidine supplementation had a positive effect on growth performance and feed conversion ratio (P < 0.05), whereas this did not occur when iron was added. Groups fed HD or HID had higher lens levels of His and N-acetyl histidine (NAH), the latter showing a marked increase post-smoltification (P < 0.05). The HD or HID groups also showed higher muscle concentrations of the His dipeptide anserine (P < 0.05). There was a strong genetic influence on cataract development in the CD groups (P < 0.001), not associated with tissue levels of His or NAH. The role of His and His-related compounds in cataractogenesis is discussed in relation to tissue buffering, osmoregulation and antioxidation
