Measurement of the Lifetime Using Semileptonic Decays
We report a measurement of the lifetime in the semileptonic decay
channel (and its charge conjugate), using
approximately 0.4 fb of data collected with the D0 detector during 2002
-- 2004. We have reconstructed 5176 signal events, where the
is identified via the decay , followed by . Using these events, we have measured the lifetime to be

Some New Results on the H Dibaryon in the Quark Cluster Model
The H dibaryon channel, (I=0,J=0,S=-2), is revisited in the non-relativistic
quark cluster model (NRQCM) using a basis extended beyond the usual set of
baryon cluster pairs to include an explicit spatially symmetric 6q state,
analogous in structure to the MIT bag model H. We find that the binding
predicted using the two-baryon basis alone is significantly deepened by the
addition of the additional 6q configuration. The NRQCM thus appears, contrary
to earlier findings, to be incompatible with the experimental information

Variations on Prequantization
We extend known prequantization procedures for Poisson and presymplectic
manifolds by defining the prequantization of a Dirac manifold P as a principal
U(1)-bundle Q with a compatible Dirac-Jacobi structure. We study the action of
Poisson algebras of admissible functions on P on various spaces of locally
(with respect to P) defined functions on Q, via hamiltonian vector fields.
Finally, guided by examples arising in complex analysis and contact geometry,
we propose an extension of the notion of prequantization in which the action of

Strangeness Enhancement in Cu+Cu and Au+Au Collisions at \sqrt{s_{NN}} = 200 GeV
We report new STAR measurements of mid-rapidity yields for the ,
, , , , ,
particles in Cu+Cu collisions at \sNN{200}, and mid-rapidity
yields for the , , particles in Au+Au at
\sNN{200}. We show that at a given number of participating nucleons, the
production of strange hadrons is higher in Cu+Cu collisions than in Au+Au
collisions at the same center-of-mass energy. We find that aspects of the
enhancement factors for all particles can be described by a parameterization
based on the fraction of participants that undergo multiple collisions
NICMOS Imaging of Molecular Hydrogen Emission in Seyfert Galaxies
We present NICMOS imaging of broad band and molecular hydrogen emission in
Seyfert galaxies. In 6 of 10 Seyferts we detect resolved or extended emission
in the 1-0 S(1) 2.121 or 1-0 S(3) 1.9570 micron molecular hydrogen lines. We
did not detect emission in the most distant galaxy or in the 2 Seyfert 1
galaxies in our sample because of the luminosity of the nuclear point sources.
In NGC 5643, NGC 2110 and MKN 1066, molecular hydrogen emission is detected in
the extended narrow line region on scales of a few hundred pc from the nucleus.
Emission is coincident with [OIII] and H alpha+[NII] line emission. This
emission is also near dust lanes observed in the visible to near-infrared color
maps suggesting that a multiphase medium exists near the ionization cones and
that the morphology of the line emission is dependent on the density of the
ambient media. The high 1-0 S(1) or S(3) H2 to H alpha flux ratio suggests that
shock excitation of molecular hydrogen (rather than UV fluorescence) is the
dominant excitation process in these extended features. In NGC 2992 and NGC
3227 the molecular hydrogen emission is from 800 and 100 pc diameter `disks'
(respectively) which are not directly associated with [OIII] emission and are
near high levels of extinction (AV > 10). In NGC 4945 the molecular hydrogen
emission appears to be from the edge of a 100 pc superbubble. In these 3
galaxies the molecular gas could be excited by processes associated with local
star formation. We confirm previous spectroscopic studies finding that no
single mechanism is likely to be responsible for the molecular hydrogen
excitation in Seyfert galaxies.Comment: submitted to Ap
Variations on a Higgs theme
We show how the boson can be generated in gluon-gluon fusion and yield
two photons, via , through massive fermion loops only,
thereby contributing events to a candidate Higgs sample in the di-photon
channel. A sub-leading contribution also exists from events. Assuming the Standard Model, the corresponding event
rates are negligible at the LHC stages of 7, 8 TeV, given the luminosities
collected therein (about 5 and 20 fb, respectively). Conversely, at 14
TeV, the first process become accessible for luminosities of order 300
fb. Finally, we show how additional fermion states entering such loops,
in production, in decay or in both cases, could affect the predictions in this
channel by curiously mimicking Higgs signals.Comment: 18 pages, 1 table, 4 figure
The Kinematics of the Ionized and Molecular Hydrogen in the Starburst Galaxy NGC 253
Near-infrared H_2 1-0 S(1) and Br_gamma velocity curves along the major axis
of NGC 253 have revealed a central velocity gradient that is seven times
steeper than that shown by the optical velocity curve. This is interpreted as
an optical depth effect due to dust. Approximately 35 mag of visual extinction
in the center is required to match the SW side of the optical velocity curve.
The spatial variation of the ratio of these lines to the CO (J=1-0) line is
compared among starburst galaxies NGC 253, M82, and NGC 4945 to investigate the

A Theorem on First-Order Interaction Vertices for Free p-Form Gauge Fields
The complete proof of a theorem announced in [1] on the consistent
interactions for (non-chiral) exterior form gauge fields is given. The theorem
can be easily generalized to the analysis of anomalies. Its proof amounts to
computing the local BRST cohomology H^0(s|d) in the space of local n-forms
